Ozwin Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Got a bit teary eyed then. Amazing stuff. Three cheers for the Tahitians!
Kitchandro Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 They should have a penalty shootout at the end just for the fun of it. Give Tahiti their moment sort of thing. Let's give them an automatic by to the World Cup instead.
Dan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 They look average even against this opposition without them, not retaining the ball nearly as well. 6-0 is really flattering to Spain based on that first half display. I thought the same. They had a completely different gameplan. Only 3 goals off thought Spain's decision making was poor.
Kitchandro Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 It's already been said but it's annoying to hear them in the studio saying they think the format should be different. Don't they understand why it is called the Confederations Cup? Besides, it's a minor tournament, let's get real for a minute, it's been entertaining but they're all just a bunch of friendlies. Winning this means almost nothing. It's not like Tahiti can devalue it because it has no value.
Dan Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Loved that at the end though. That was what football's about.

It's as much about making sure the host nation can cope with the forthcoming World Cup as much as anything. When else are Tahiti going to play the World Champions?
Kitchandro Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Fans have made it more than just a filler tournament though I think. It's been more than that in terms of I've actually enjoyed watching it, but it still really is a filler tournament. There's nothing wrong with that, not everything can/has to be be a major tournament. I have to agree with Nevin about the high line. It's one thing being outclassed but trying to play offside in the opposition half is retarded. If I was managing a country, even an amateur country, I'd make sure Id watched a football match before. Like he said, you can teach kids some kind of organisation. Most Sunday League sides would do a lot better.

Too many teams in them and the strategy is just to get group stages and not to lose (penalties if need be) for other rounds including the final. They look for the safest route through the group stage. In this there are winners of something.
Guest MattP Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 We should expand things like this to all forms of Society. We could shove Rincewind on The only way is Marbella or Kingfox on Question Time once every four years.

The Doctor Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Which poor fvcker is going on Take Me Out? Leicesterpool - only way he's going to get near a lassie.
Super_horns Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Playing such a high line would have problems against most sides - never mind Spain. Tahiti lads clearly enjoyed it though...and the crowd.

Fox92 Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Didn't realise Xavi is the most decorated footballer in the World. Think he only needs this Confederations Cup.
Kitchandro Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Didn't realise Xavi is the most decorated footballer in the World. Think he only needs this Confederations Cup. And the FA Cup
Kitchandro Posted 20 June 2013 Posted 20 June 2013 Cavani always looks good when I've seen him for Napoli but crap when I've seen him for Uruguay.
Finnegan Posted 21 June 2013 Posted 21 June 2013 Leicesterpool - only way he's going to get near a lassie. If even you pulled, he'll get there eventually.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 21 June 2013 Posted 21 June 2013 And the FA Cup Johnstone's Paint Can?
SystonFox Posted 22 June 2013 Posted 22 June 2013 Well done. What were the odds I wonder? Around 5/1 I think. A pittance!
