NathanC93 Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 Just wondering for those who have/had Foxes Player, whether it was worth getting for a season ticket holder? Never had it before but seems alright seeing as you get all the interviews and highlights etc. Also how long does it take for the highlights/interviews to go up after a match? And does anyone know if you can listen to the radio commentary on there, through an iPhone/Mac? Normal radio apps don't let me listen to the commentary for whatever reason so would be handy if I could listen to it through Foxes Player too.
GingerrrFox Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 For some away games last season they put the whole game up. You can listen to commentary but only on mac/pc if memory serves me right. Everything else is good but they could probably do with using it more like filming training etc more. They did tunnel cam last year which was decent but they often cut out interesting bits because of swearing.
NathanC93 Posted 3 July 2013 Author Posted 3 July 2013 Ah okay, thanks. I take it you have it then? Would you say it's pretty much worth it then with the videos etc that you get?
GingerrrFox Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 Yeah it's worth it because it's not too pricey per month.
dbt_lcfc Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 Definitely worth the money, get a couple of after match interviews and highlights after every game, a load of random interviews through the week and u have tge added bonus of being able to listen to matches if your unable to get to the game or unable to pick up 104.9fm....money well spent imo as I dont feel you get to see enough of the highlights on the fl show
indierich06 Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 It's only about £4.29 a month as well. And you can access Player through the official FL app, meaning you can watch vids and listen to commentary on the go. Well worth it for how little you pay really.
Langley Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 You can listen to it on your iPhone though the football league app but you need to have foxes player and link the accounts.
StanSP Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 It's not too pricey, but there's a reason for that. The quality of highlights isn't great - they say there was better streaming quality for the season just gone, but I struggled to see the difference. It was still poor. And throughout too many games while listening to commentary, it just cut out so much. The content of the highlights are good because it is more you see than on TV. I also like some of the flashbacks they do, like classic games with upcoming opponents or classic goal compilations. This summer they've done a legends series with Steve Walsh and Ian Marshall so far.
Ricey Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 It's worth it for people like me that struggle to get Radio Leicester. However it's unreliable, doesn't work on mobile, the highlights are bad quality and most the video content is pretty dull.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 I cancelled mine tbh, I never found myself using it. It's alright I guess.
HoustonFox Posted 3 July 2013 Posted 3 July 2013 Not living in the Leicester area (far from it in fact!) I use it a lot for listening to the games and watching the highlights. I can't say I've ever watched the FULL MATCH highlights or the Tunnel cam (maybe once) but it's pretty decent for £40/year-ish plus $1.99 for the app on iPad/Iphone. Yes the performance was poor last season but they've improved it vastly and in fact, they even replied when I complained! iPhone just started working for the playoffs, so blame me for us losing to Watford in the second leg.

I might look at picking it up next season then - good to hear a review from North America. If you're planning on subscribing again, would you mind shooting me a message about the quality in the new season?
dpjfox Posted 4 July 2013 Posted 4 July 2013 I have it and its worth getting especially for the likes of me who live 250 miles away, the price is cheap , connection not without its faults, commentary eventfull, go for it
broughtonblue Posted 4 July 2013 Posted 4 July 2013 Anyway of downloading the highlights once subscribed if its a brilliant match?
bluesbrothers Posted 4 July 2013 Posted 4 July 2013 It's alright for the money, given the access to a proper archive of the past few seasons and the access to commentary. However, the reliability of that commentary is godawful at times and I complained multiple times last season due to missing large swathes of a number of matches. If I had a reliable stream of BBC Leicester, I'd just listen to that instead.

If you're planning on subscribing again, would you mind shooting me a message about the quality in the new season? Will do bud. Normally pretty decent quality when on wifi for the highlights and 3G for the commentary as audio only doesn't normally need much bandwidth for just regular radio quality. ozleicester Posted 8 July 2013 Posted 8 July 2013 Had it a few years, dont have too much trouble with the commentary, is essential if you cant get RL, and can get it on android. I think the highlights are CRAP!, (ive complained to the club many times) you usually get about 3 minutes, which is effectively just the shots and goals, i have discovered however that your foxesplayer get you into all the others clubs "player" sites, so, quite a number of the other clubs put up full matches, so if you can put up with their commentary you can sometimes see complete games. The interviews etc are a bit meh for me, infact if it werent for the live commentary..i dont think id bother. edit - they usually do a free trial offer during the season, maybe wait for that and give it a test?
tontolcfc Posted 11 July 2013 Posted 11 July 2013 I was really disappointed with it, got it half way through last season hoping to see some of the away games footage. The highlights took too long to get put up and then they were usually just the ones on the football league show.
ozleicester Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Just got this through.. though i wouldnt recomend it given that we will be in the Prem next year and streaming will be wooohoooo. We’re celebrating 125 years of the Football league and to celebrate we’re offering you £12.50 off Leicester City player. Just use voucher code 5205-125YEARS. Don’t miss this offer, available for a limited time only. Leicester City player features: Edit - the voucher code is --- 5205-125YEARS
Vicki Vixen Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 The deal the football league struck with YouTube makes Player's existence harder to justify. My understanding is that from this season, all football league teams are obliged to put interviews and match highlights on their official youtube sites, which of course are free to watch. So the only reasons for paying a subscription for Player are to: - watch extended match highlights (versus the shorter highlights on youtube). Typically you get 2-3 mins of match highlights on youtube versus anywhere from 3-10 mins of highlights on Player - watch replays of the full 90 mins, on the very rare occasion they put them up on Player (10% of games at most) - watch full interviews and tunnel cam (versus the snippets you get on youtube) - the odd exclusive, like the video of Nugent's first 50 goals for the club, but its not often they make the effort to do these - listen to match commentary (only useful if you live outside Radio Leicester's broadcast area) - access to the archive of match highlights (which currently goes back as far as the League One promotion season) - access other teams' Player sites at no extra cost, so you can see what their manager/players are saying about us before and after games. Sometimes other teams are better about keeping their Player sites up to date, so you might see full game replays or longer highlight reels if you go to their sites rather than Foxes Player
yorkie1999 Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Plus you can give your user name and password to all your mates, much in the same way as my lad did, and everyone can enjoy it for free!!!
LanguedocFox Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Plus you can give your user name and password to all your mates, much in the same way as my lad did, and everyone can enjoy it for free!!! Does that work?
Captain... Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Don't forget next season we will be in the prem and be able to stream most matches live (if illegally) where ever you are in the world, and have the full match replayed on Sky Sports (I think that is for every 3pm kick off).
lc_tillidie Posted 3 April 2014 Posted 3 April 2014 Why do they not show replays of the full game.anymore? Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2
