What does everyone play? Is 352 really that good? 4231?

I was playing 4411 (King behind Wood), it was working so well. Went on a terrible run, changed to 442, won a few games but it isn't working again. Just lost 0-3 at home to Nottingham Forest!

3-4-1-2

I would always play with the three centre halves, two centre mids, one attacking mid behind two strikers - but the other two would vary. I'd use any combination of LWB/RWB, LWB/RM, LM/RWB, LM/RM. Simply to accomodate my wide players. If De Laet was fit I'd use him at RWB and if I'd rather be a bit more attacking, I'd play Simon Davies in RM. Similar scenario on the left with Bakayogo, Hunt (who is shite), Ilunga (also shite), Konchesky (shite and left), and Schlupp. Dyer didn't play once all season.

Back three was any of Morgan, Moore, Wasilewski, Whitbread, Tate and even Taft. Miquel left very early into his loan. I only used Taft because of injuries but Wasilewski's managed to get his determination up to a 17 which is phenomenal. It was usually the first three, Moore being probably the most consistent.

Two centre mids would be a deep-lying playmaker (99% Drinkwater) and a box to box, which would either be King, James or Hammond, preferably King. Hammond would often come on for Drinkwater and I made him a ball winner rather than a DLP. Drinkwater finally grew a pair and 'forgave' me for the horrific act of telling him he isn't unconditionally in the side. Nobhead.

Knockaert was my main AMC in AP (A), but I signed Jason Holt from Hearts for a mere £100k and he was very decent when he filled in and got a few starts as a result. Up front it was a deep-lying forward and a poacher. The DLF was normally always GTF but I did rotate a bit with Nugent (who was sold due to being shit). Schlupp was my poacher for a lot of the season but Wood was just better. Signed Javier Patino on a free towards the end and he was a tidy forward.

Got a lot of work to do though. A lot of my squad are going.

Abate would probably not go for £20m+ in real life...

Give over.

He's a 27 year old right back with little experience of the later knockout rounds of the Champions League.

He's not even in the top 10 fullbacks in the world IMO. Anyone who pays £20m is a mug.

He meant David Alaba, he mixed them up.

In fairness though on FM13 I bet you'd have to pay £20mil for Abate. I'm glad you don't have to pay completely over the odds for anyone who isn't transfer listed.

theres a link neqr the bottom of the message to view report. comparison is there.

Ah thanks for that. I had it set up in 'windowed' mode - switched to full screen and I can see it now.

Shame though, I much prefer windowed.

same here. i was hoping by now they'd have fixed the fact it cuts the bottom of the screen off.

4-5-1 with AML/R or 4-1-3-2 wide. I have a back up 3-1-3-1-2 in case I have a defensive crisis but have yet to use it.

my problem every year is passing january. have a great half season bit then it just collapses.

Taken over at Hradec Kralove, remember them being pretty decent last year, should be an interesting challenge. Expected to finish 2nd so, I'll see what I can work with.

Were always a yo-yo club

Just managed to bag Ross Barkley for £2.5m over 12 months. Don't think I'll get a better bargain that than for an Englishman.

£82k lol

15? He could be incredible! Get him in the first team early.

EDIT: Wait, only 5"8? Better hope for a growth spurt :P

Such a find from my scouts. Delighted with that.

He'll get a bit taller but he's still pretty good in the air. Intend to use him in the U21's this season and give him a few games next. Also intend to get Wasilewski tutoring him, I renewed his deal for a year for that sole reason lol

How did you pick him up so cheap? And where from? Even when I find good players that have like £52k value or whatever they still won't accept anything under a million usually.

He was at Crewe. I got very lucky really. Saw him and offered him a deal ASAP.

Sadly Spurs and Liverpool became interested, inevitable, but incredibly he stuck with Leicester.

I managed to get Crewe as my feeder club, gonna have a look at their youth teams now, bet they have nothing!

lol this game has made me almost physically sick

I had a 3-4pt lead over Porto for most of the season, 4 games left I play them at home and absolutely hammer them 4-0 to extend my unbeaten league record to 49 games. Between 6/3/2060 - 29/4/62 I lost one game in the league. 3 games left, 6pt lead.. pretty much just won the league.

Next game away at relegation strugglers, lose 1-0. Last minute. I use only commentary and it was one of them shitty phases of play where it just came up GOOAALL. No build up play or anything, it just started flashing goal.

Next game I hammer a side but can only draw 1-1. Porto win. Last game, gap is 1pt

Took me until the 60th minute to break the deadlock away at my bogey team with a penalty. Last 10mins i'm winning 1-0 and completely shitting myself, then my defender scores two goals from a corner so it ended comfortably.

I've never gone through a full season unbeaten so it was a giant pisstake to lose when I thought i'd play all my difficult games for the season. On for the treble since my FA Cup final is against a Div 2 side, could have been a quadruple has the FA not decided to schedule my League Cup semi final vs Benfica in the same week as international friendlies

Made all my signings yesterday. Spent about £4mil (the majority of that on Forestieri), ended up with about 10 new players. Dragged in a piss poor £4.1mil for Knockaert. Refuse to keep a player around who doesn't want to be there but couldn't get any more.

On anyone else's game, does the following scenario happen a bit too often...

Goal-keeper comes out to the side of the area to clear a ball

Only reaches the nearer half of the centre circle

Opposition player wins ball and shoots (first time or not) while keeper is still running back

Luckily, so far, none of these has resulted in goals. But I just know that the 1 time it does result in a goal, it'll be a decisive one in a cup final or similar.
