Dan Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I started last night as Southampton, signed Sully Muntari for £2.8m, drew 3-3 with Man City after being 3-0 up and my assistant manager suggested I tell the players I was pleased, not a chance! Not doing too badly though, sitting 7th after 8 games! I never know what to say in that situation because whilst it's not a bad result, how do you praise a team after throwing away a three goal lead? I do wonder if FM identifies the manner in the way results are achieved, or if it just looks at the result and nothing else. You'd hope by now it's the former.

Dan Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Credit to FM that they've finally improved interviews. More realistic prices to pay now too - managed to sign Abate for £7mil yet if I'd gone for him on 13 they'd be trying to rince at least twenty from us.

Abate would probably not go for £20m+ in real life...
Beliall Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I dont know what to do! the board have offered a new contract since I got a play off place, but they want a repaectable league position clause, if we get promoted I dont want that. but if I decline talks will I get offered another later?

Have you tried removing it? If you decline, nothing bad will happen. After the play-offs you can even ask for another contract. I finished in 7th in my first season, and throughout my 2nd season I was reminded in Board Updates that they haven't forgotten the successes of the previous season.

Yeah you'd definitely hope it's the former! I was a bit conservative about it, what killed the most is we conceded 3 goals between th 80th-84th minute!

21st Century Fox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I managed to get Empoli promoted in my second season in charge. It was rough going for a while. Had a shocking run up to Christmas but then went on an 8 game winning streak and another 7 game unbeaten run after that to clinch a playoff place in 4th. (Serie B has an annoying playoff system based on the amount of points that separate 3rd and 8th place!). Before that season the club was taken over and was fairly lucky to keep my job in the board reshuffle so it's quite satisfying to be 'untouchable' for a while now. This season in Serie A is going to be tough. I've so far brought in Marco Rojas on loan and signed last seasons Serie B top scorer (34 in 29) for £1.5m so I'm hoping he can net a few in Serie A. Giovanni my 84 year old physio decided to retire, so I hope we got him a nice crystal fruit bowl. I might go and pick the bones of Lazio who got relegated to Serie B.

NewburyFox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Got Wrexham promoted through the play-offs! Some turn around after being sacked from Lincoln 18 months ago, with the club bottom of the table and a GD of roughly -30. Now to take on League 2 and the challenges of FFP, won't be easy.

I love this team. my reserves are almost as good as the first team, I cleared out all the high earbers and freed half a mill for transfers. elsewhere watford got a ffp fine, and Leicester employed arry rednapp.
Ross-Kemp Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Started classic mode with Leicester, lost in the play off semi finals first season but won the play offs beating Brighton in the semi finals and Ipswich in the final. Will post my ins and outs tomorrow, 2 games in, I beat Everton 2-1 at home and drew 1-1 with Fulham away, very happy start.

Narborough_fox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Into the semi-finals of the FA Cup, beat Chelsea 3-2 in the replay. Played a version of 4-6-0 in the first game and kept it to 0-0, back to my normal tactics in the home game and came from a goal down twice to win 3-2. Also drew to Man United 1-1 and beat Manchester City 4-0 in the last 2 months. Successful.

I don't actually intend to use this one, but seeing as I'm a bit of a saddo, is this the same way everyone else sees our real life tactics?
