Zingari Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Somebody I work with is an autograph collector. He goes and waits outside hotels, parties, awards ceremonies, theatre stage doors etc in London if he thinks there's a chance of seeing someone famous. I thought my life was pretty sad .
Charl91 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 People buy this stuff on ebay, and how do you know its genuine? Also what about these match worn shirts are genuine either? you should never but this type of stuff off ebay. How will people know your Conrad Logan signatures are genuine?
ousefox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Strangely enough this morning i was thinking of starting thread talking about what autographs have people got. The reason i enjoy getting autographs is know that these autographs one day will be worth something. Like football programmes, every bit of property in your house will be worth something in years to come. Autograph wise i've got Sven! Sol Bamba Darius Vassell "a blonde haired barnsley player that i didn't know his name!" Nathan Delfouneso Sean St Ledger (twice) Jermiane Beckford Richie Wellens Neil Danns Conrad Logan (twice) Lloyd Dyer (three times) Chris Powell Yuki Abe Danny Drinkwater David Nugent Ben Marshall Paul Konchesky Martyn Waghorn Gelson Fernandes Andy King Chris Weale Wayne Brown Jack Hobbs Stopped doing it for a while, because i got sick of having to go to the ground early. I've been meaning to get both Nigel's and Kasper's before they both bugger off. None of those will ever be worth anything significant. Would you pay much for autographs from a second tier team of 10/20 years ago? Used to enjoy getting autographs when I was younger, but would feel embarrassed asking for footballers' now. I did get Ray Davies' last October though, but that is something I'll get framed and off a real legend.

As I mentioned at the top of the thread, my brother collects them, but he doesn't really bother with Leicester players, in which you make a good point. He's got people like Robert Lindsay (one of my favourite actors), and Karl Pilkington. Actually, the Karl Pilkington one is really good, and he didn't just sign it, he wrote a small paragraph. Nice touch to be fair.
fleckneymike Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Never quite got the fascination of getting someone's name on a piece of paper. Having said that somewhere I have a Steve Claridge signed League Cup final programme. Buggered if I know where though.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I've got Ian Rush's somewhere. Is that impressive?
Guest ttfn Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I remember once i emailed the company that made most haunted and i requested Yvette's autograph, and about an hour later i got a reply saying it was there pleasure. I'm not sure if its a copy but i'd like to think she actually touched it. lol
Zingari Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I've got Lord Charles's autograph , but I reckon it's a fake and that quiet bloke who always sits with him on stage actually signed it .
ronnup Posted 21 July 2013 Posted 21 July 2013 Got a Leicester county cricket hat signed by curtly ambrose

Sven's would be worth a bit, because he's managed no end of big clubs worked with loads of big names.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 21 July 2013 Posted 21 July 2013 Never bothered with autographs really, mainly they dont interest me but also because if you get them outside a ground or something like that then its more just a squiggle and not an actual autograph because they have so many to get through. That said I wouldn't mind Jess Ennis.
pSinatra Posted 21 July 2013 Posted 21 July 2013 I went to pick an old girlfriend up from that health spa place near Brooksby College & Frank Bruno was training there. She got me his autograph on a photo postcard. I put it in a frame alongside my ticket stub when Bruno won the world title against Oliver McCall at Wembley. It's in the house somewhere??? Met Gary Mason when in Lewis's one Saturday afternoon when I was about 18 years old. He was promoting a brand of sportswear called Troop. He signed a full size poster for us all. It seemed it was only me & my mates that were at all interested. Had a good 20 minute chat with him & he was a thoroughly decent bloke. A really nice guy, built like a brick shit house & I was sad to hear of his death a few years ago after being knocked of his bicycle.

Nice touch to be fair. Yeah, didn't say much to him - was just surreal seeing him so close. But the sort of people collecting autographs was bizarre. A lot of people in their 50/60s who all looked a bit odd, then quite a few youngsters like me. I thought how great it must feel for him that there are so many young people into his music.
21st Century Fox Posted 21 July 2013 Posted 21 July 2013 A girl I used to work with got me Phil Harding's (from Time Team) autograph when she studied Archeology because I chickened out asking him for one even though he lives down the road from me. One of my life's goals is to get my picture taken with him and make it my profile picture on every single social media site I'm a member of.

I don't think I'd say anything either If I met the likes of Ray Davies or Bob Dylan, I'd be meeting my heroes and in shock probably!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 July 2013 Author Posted 24 July 2013 I don't think I'd say anything either If I met the likes of Ray Davies or Bob Dylan, I'd be meeting my heroes and in shock probably! Ah, a man after my own heart.
