DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 July 2013 Posted 18 July 2013 I was just wondering if there are any autograph collectors on this site, and if so, which type do you most enjoy collecting? Although I have a widespread collection, my main interest is in collecting "Westerns" photos and autographs.

sphericalfox Posted 18 July 2013 Posted 18 July 2013 nothing cool about grown adults pushing in front of children to complete their coolection or to sell for gain

He's got a few good ones to be fair.
Leicesterpool Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Strangely enough this morning i was thinking of starting thread talking about what autographs have people got. The reason i enjoy getting autographs is know that these autographs one day will be worth something. Like football programmes, every bit of property in your house will be worth something in years to come. Autograph wise i've got Sven! Sol Bamba Darius Vassell "a blonde haired barnsley player that i didn't know his name!" Nathan Delfouneso Sean St Ledger (twice) Jermiane Beckford Richie Wellens Neil Danns Conrad Logan (twice) Lloyd Dyer (three times) Chris Powell Yuki Abe Danny Drinkwater David Nugent Ben Marshall Paul Konchesky Martyn Waghorn Gelson Fernandes Andy King Chris Weale Wayne Brown Jack Hobbs Stopped doing it for a while, because i got sick of having to go to the ground early. I've been meaning to get both Nigel's and Kasper's before they both bugger off.
purpleronnie Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I would imagine its very difficult in authenticating real from fake autographs. Avoid ebay would be a start I guess.

Jace Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I've always thought it was a bit pointless myself inless you get it signed yourself in person if not then it would be impossible to know if something was genuine or not
kingfox Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 every bit of property in your house will be worth something in years to come. How much would I get for a half broken rubber, currently sitting on my fire place?
Jon the Hat Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 If you get them yourself and it makes you happy why not. Never seen the point of buying those framed ones got by some willy puller for profit.
Bert Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Lampard, Terry, Fowler, Henry, Wenger, Pires, Sol Campbell, Shearer, Rio are just a few in my collection. Haven't autograph hunted for 10 years.
21st Century Fox Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I used to write to players when I was younger and they'd send back signed photos, that was pretty cool. I have a shoebox full of them somewhere. When lots of Serie A players came over here I used to get my mum to translate the letters into Italian for me to increase the likelihood of getting a reply The first one I had a crack at translating myself and holds particular pride for me was Attilio Lombardo when he was at Palace
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I only relax when I seem them being offered alongside a certificate of authenticity. You can ALWAYS trust a certificate
purpleronnie Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I only relax when I seem them being offered alongside a certificate of authenticity. You can ALWAYS trust a certificate Probably takes an extra 5 minutes to print out on their home computer and adds 50% to the price.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Probably takes an extra 5 minutes to print out on their home computer and adds 50% to the price. Sadly I do know people who have bought autographs online and when I've raised my eyebrows (an entirely involuntary response) they've said, it's OK, there's a certificate with it
Leicesterpool Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I remember once i emailed the company that made most haunted and i requested Yvette's autograph, and about an hour later i got a reply saying it was there pleasure. I'm not sure if its a copy but i'd like to think she actually touched it.
21st Century Fox Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Ok, you're definitely playing a character. I tip my hat, your performance thus far has been Oscar worthy.

RobHawk Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Had Jet from gladiators when i was kid! Met her at some publicity gig at Tamworth services! Got a few signed books, Ozzy osbourne, tony Blair, Eric clapton, lee evans among others! don't really collect them but have a few of value. Last i looked the Clapton book was close to a grand!
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Someone on here has got a signed picture of Kylie Pentelow off East Midlands today. That must be worth a fortune
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 19 July 2013 Author Posted 19 July 2013 I only relax when I seem them being offered alongside a certificate of authenticity. You can ALWAYS trust a certificate Correct. Certificates of authenticity are worth "Jack Shit" If you don't get them personally, then use a dealer who is a member of AFTAL, or the UACC.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Correct. Certificates of authenticity are worth "Jack Shit" If you don't get them personally, then use a dealer who is a member of AFTAL, or the UACC. I'll remember that, when I get round to obtaining Nina off Nina and the Neurons signature Had Jet from gladiators That's a bold claim
Leicesterpool Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 People buy this stuff on ebay, and how do you know its genuine? Also what about these match worn shirts are genuine either? you should never but this type of stuff off ebay.
separator Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Somebody I work with is an autograph collector. He goes and waits outside hotels, parties, awards ceremonies, theatre stage doors etc in London if he thinks there's a chance of seeing someone famous.
