fleckneymike Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 I must admit, I've always been somewhat baffled by the urge to wear a shirt to the match. Likewise I'm baffled by people who wear band t-shirts or tv show shirts. If I'm completely honest I do look down on folks who wear the shirt but it should be noted I also look down on those who dress as casuals.

Finnegan Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 Didn't Marsh show up heroically full kit willy puller in his early 90s Fox Leisure effort for the first FT fixture? The one where he murdered LD3 with a karate kick? I can't remember if he was in the home shirt or a play off final cartoon white tee circa 94. Either way, brilliant. Manwell Pablo Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 Its not even so much the people who wear it to games either, I saw someone doing shopping in town the other week wearing a full Liverpool kit, wtaf! I was having a meal in a pub in Swad about 3 weeks ago and some idiot in his 40's had a full Birmingham City kit on...... funny.

I don't really get the TV show shirt thing and there are a few issues with band T-shirts. It's acceptable to wear a current tour T-shirt out and about but not on the tour itself. After the tour is over, you can wear it on another tour but only wear it for a while out and about or it becomes sad. After a while, it becomes retro and you can wear it whenever you like.Wearing a band T-shirt of a band you're not really a fan of in an attempt to appear cool is just sad. Strange rules but that's just how it is
Mack Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 On a side note I wont pay 45 quid for a shirt on principal. Especially when it will be a tenner next Easter.
Finnaldo Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 I think you may be referring to me. I called Year of the Fox a full kit willy puller as a joke when he uploaded a picture a few weeks ago. Wasn't being serious though.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 I didn't say shirt wearers are slagged off down the city. I said that they are slagged off at times on this site. I unfortunately said terms thrown at them included 'full kit W*****s'. I appreciate that from the various replies this is a different issue. My bad. I thought you were talking about when you're down at the KP.

fleckneymike Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 Do you go in suit and tie then FM? Or do you go starkers? In what world is the alternative to a replica shirt a suit and tie? Like 90% of the population I elect to go in whatever I would normally wear when not at work.

Munshi Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 The only thing that makes me laugh is the full kit, Shirt, Shorts, Socks, even the bloody Footy trainers. Other than that whatever you want to wear unless its a bloody onesie
fleckneymike Posted 2 August 2013 Share Posted 2 August 2013 I look down on folks that dress in what they would wear when they're not at work I.E you. What wrong with the casual clothing? It's a uniform, a costume an outfit. It is the strange urge to wear something 'special' to a social event. There are many people who would dress that way throughout the week, which is fair enough, but the desire to 'dress up' and effectively put on a costume for a game of football strikes me as very odd indeed. I like to think of it as looking smart, presentable, taking pride in your appearance... nothing wrong with that. I look down on people like yourself who just wears whatever, scruffs if you like... Ian not offended.I have always been amazed by the willingness of people to 'look down' on others. I grew up with a socialist background and believe there is worth in everyone. I have however never liked the 'looking down' on people attitude of people that have petty snobbery. You have not offended me Mike, please don't take my criticism to heart.
