What is wrong with wearing the shirt?

Always where my shirt. Met quite a few people locally who support city, wouldn't have met them and become friends if it weren't for the shirt.

The misses bought me the away keeper kit for my birthday with my name on the back. Wearing it with pride, it's a lush colour, feels nice looks good with jeans. Why not wear it? It's a normal top to me.

Always wear my white away shirt with the blue stripe that goes diagnol (as its lucky) when watching on telly. Wore it that night de vreis scored against spurs! What a night!

Always play 6 a side footie in my blue city top also.

It suites and living in Devon it helps you to find spare fellow supporters haha.

Anyone that mocks another fan for wearing a football shirt to a football game is the sports equivalent of a hipster and is a cvnt.

What if it's a vintage shirt from the 1980s that one bought from a charity shop? Or, better yet, what if one is wearing a football shirt ironically?

I can't remember the last time anybody slated people purely for wearing a replica on here. Full Kit Wankers are ripe for pisstaking, looks utterly bizarre on an adult, but replica shirt wearers don't get that kind of treatment on here.

I don't wear replicas at matches myself because I think they're overpriced and generally look a bit crap on a skinny Will McKenzie lookalike, the last one I bought was the Joma 125th anniversary edition I still wear for five-a-side at work, but wouldn't think of decrying anybody who did.

It's probably the accessories that you take that get you more abuse. Briefcase willy puller ;)

(Sorry reading thread from start)

Some of us don't live locally, so it is nice to wear the shirts. They are mostly Wycombe Wanderers, or Man U and the London clubs round here, so it is nice to sometimes wear the City shirt around the town.  I have found one other City fan, and a number of Tigers fans down here.

DT - this is the best and most positive post I have ever read from you. #like

Good lad.

I wear mine around Houston and have a City sports bag when I play football a the weekends. I like to pretend it is my home club team that I used to play for when they ask. Then they see me play.... :)

Nothing wrong with it unless you are one of those people with a player on the back when you're older than 20. lol

And yet in America, "personalised" replica jerseys are the mark of a megafan who is willing to pay an extra $100 on an already pricey piece of merch. These kinds of social rules are funny to me, wear what you want.

On a side, I'm pretty much done with printed shirts after the Laczko disaster. lol

Can't believe some of the stuff I've read on this thread. Next you'll be telling me that it is 'sad' for a 22 year old male to attend matches with face-paint and a jesters hard!

'full kit willy puller' has never been aimed at kids IMO. I made the error of doing the Loughborough half in my city top some black shorts and my leicester socks lol

I was called a FKW though it really didnt bother me. It did look a bit daft it just so happened that the socks were the first ones I pulled out that morning. I was always going to wear my shirt.

Whilst it's nice to show your colours I do think youhave to still be a bit careful/selective as to which away game you wear it to for fear of getting some unwanted attention. That's certainly why I don't wear them away.

It also enables the police to tell who you are which is when you start being treated like cattle. I personally like to go in which pubs I choose.

Some of the shirts look incredibly smart, the last one being the 125th anniversary one. The England shirt of a couple if years back too.

I think this is the first time I've agreed with you! I wore mine down to Heathrow on Thursday. Nothing wrong with having a bit of pride in where you're from. I also wore it to Venice and got talking to a random Italian waiter about us. Seemed to know who I supported by looking at the shirt from a distance

Matter of opinion, I wouldn't think it looked good at all, but if you do, fair enough. Everyone's tastes vary, if you like it wear it, ignore other people's opinions (like mine).

Secondly, the fact you think it's 'lucky' is a bit odd. We won a game/games while you had it on, that's just chance, or a coincidence. Maybe not even that, football games have to have a result H/A/D, if you wear the shirt to watch the games in, some will have the result you want!

Most people complain about the ridiculous money being banded about in football, but they are quite happy to walk around in a billboard for the companies throwing money at the game. It's bizarre and I do look down on you. Newcastle fans this season will look the most idiotic in history.

I guess there's quite a few 40+ guys going to the games that take their kids as I take my 14 & 10 y/o daughters, so wear the shirt to join in with the occasion of the game as its more of a family event these days than it was in the 70/80's say.

We all sit in the kop and wear it with pride, dont give a flying f*** what anyone else thinks.

Thank you..!

I'm not all that keen on being a walking advert for King Power to be honest, especially when you can get a reasonable polo shirt for a similar price. Bought the LOROS 125th anniversary one but only wear it to play sport/exercise in.

As someone said earlier in the thread, for away games it's a no brainer not to wear colours (sometimes have a pin badge on though) if you want the freedom of the city you're visiting.

Replica shirts are fine, full kits just make you like a knob.

lol lol lol The Liverpool one is a classic!

I wear football shirts most days tbh, but haven't been a full kit w*nker since I was 7.

They get called that when they wear the full kit not just the shirt, hence the name Full Kit W***ers.

No adult should really be wearing full kit unless they're playing at the time

how about adult foxes? Is filbert a fkw? :-(

I often wear a replica to a match with my forum name on the back. I'm a fat bloke in my late 40's and I don't really care what others think. Generally those who have to comment on what others are wearing believe they are super cool and have great taste and look very fashionable.

I'm very glad we have these sort of people around to show us the right way to do things, they are such great people. It must be great to be so popular and wonderful. Us out of fashion cringe people wish we were just like them. It's too late for an old git like me but you young uns who wear replicas and other things they don't approve of take heed and copy what they wear so you can look cool and boost your own ego by commenting on those who don't meet your approval.
