Lloyd Dyer - future at the club or not?

Recommended Posts

Can't believe this thread is even here. We invariably look a better side with Dyer on the pitch.

I'd love us to sign another pacey out and out winger, but good ones aren't 10 a penny and Dyer is the closest we've got to a club icon, works his socks off and is often very effective.

442 yes, 532 no, Lloyd is not a wing back. Playing 442 he is the best traditional winger in the club. I do wonder if switching to 532 np has told him not to attack so much and curb his attacking instincts.

Didn't work his socks off yesterday, looked like he couldn't be bothered to track back. Schlupp was under more pressure when Dyer came on.

We don't look like a better side with Dyer playing at all.

I think this was more the case on our right-hand side yesterday and thought that Knockaert could easily have cost us the game but no-one else seems to have mentioned it...

Oh I agree with that as well. Knockaert loses the ball to easily and then gets frustrated, I've said it before. He isn't the player we need when we need to big in deep and win 1-0 away from home.

Very much doubt Lloyd would be a player that would be sold. His wages arent gonna be massive and we wouldnt get much of a fee. Plus he's a pretty specialist position (out and out winger with ridiculous pace) so would make no sense at all getting rid.

Super sub, so we play boring football and create nothing until dyer and Knockaert come on... why don't we try starting with them at home...

you think bringing someone like drinkwater on will have the same impact?

starting dyer and knocky would mean we have no plan B.

Last weekend, a poster on here said that Dyer was not a footballer and never had been. 7 days later, he comes off the bench, sets up one, wins the penalty for another as well as put in a great cross that Knocky wasn't far off converting and also set one up for Nugent that arguably should have been scored. After defending him, my football knowledge was called into question but after a 45 minutes like that..... well.... I hope he's eating his words tonight.

Arguably won us the game with an assist and a penalty he got. Love him.

He gets knocked down a lot but a player like that in this league will always cause a problem for the opposition. He scares them, if he was consistent with scoring and playing good balls he would be at a team like Man U

I hope the idiots on this thread who said Lloyd was past it print off their words and eat them.

Fair play. I said in the other thread I'm his biggest critic, but he did well today. But let's remember, it's one game. My words have more chance of eating you come the end of the season.

Let's see if he can be consistent, something he struggles with.

And nobody is an 'idiot' just because they have a different opinion to you.

I agree sometimes I get things wrong also, like with Vardy.

However Dyer has done it for us over and over and over again.

Yes he gets tired at times and goes off the boil, but that's pretty much the same as all flair / creative / pacey players as it's hard to sustain for long periods.

The reason I called those who said he was finished "idiots" was because Dyer has always had the odd off game but always finds form, so to write him off after one performance was idiotic in my opinion.

He's captained us tonight in a 5-2 victory and scored. What else is there to say?

For anyone to really want to criticise Dyer is frankly, a little sad. Like King, he's a really loyal servant to the club. He's been benched and, as far as we know, has never moaned. He was effectively binned by Sven, in favour of some complete clowns and, as far as we know, never moaned.

Dyer just gets on with it.

I like him, always have and commend him for his attitude and effort.

Finally, I remain unconvinced at the continual criticism of his 'final product'. I've seen Dyer whip in some sensational crosses over the years and still believe he's so quick that the strikers simply just can't keep up with him.

City fans have got plenty to moan about. But at Dyer really ain't warranted.
