cc_star Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 Hardly exciting but we are missing a player of his ilk. Still lacking creativity though, lets hope that signing is yet to come. James & King can both pick out a pass, thru-ball etc, perhaps Hammond will 'free' them up a little bit. Although King is a cracking defensive midfielder, who's very intelligent and reads the game so well to win the ball at the back and then play it out to RDL to help us break
dayday Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 A good signing and was badly needed, our defence is improving but is still suspect, this signing stamps we will become harder to beat all over it. Our options have gone to another level,Danny Drinkwater has been good so far and I might be in the minority, yet I think he would be even better in a more advanced role than a defensive role, even though he has played well this season he still prone to giving the ball away and putting us back in danger, pushed up a bit will take the pressure of him.
Danno Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 get a winger in and then see you lot at wembley in may

Tielemans63 Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 Saints fans are very fond of him. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?46555-Dean-Hammond-signs-for-Leicester-City#.UiEpLBt9CSo Seems he's a very good pro and an excellent influence according to that forum. Good stuff.
sylofox Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 Brighton fan here. Hammond is a good player. He normally played as a CM rather then a CDM for us last season due to us having Bridcutt but when Bridcutt was out he played very well as a defensive midfielder. He is slow though. His passing is good and he will win the ball in the air. He'll probably score a few goals as he is good at getting into attacking positions and heading the ball. It's a shame we didn't sign him as it's nice to have another player who was born locally but he wouldn't have wanted to sit on our bench which would be inevitable as we now have a very good central midfield. Am so glad you explained that for us we would never have guessed. lol
Collymore Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 this video is comedy gold. i mean what are the chances!!?
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 At last expierience ! Very happy with this!!! A leader as well according to some which is what we need, someone to run the engine room, and Bert if I have questioned you in the past then 9 out of 10 this time. Damn I even had to concede that dyer can pass the ball this week!!!! Also credit mashhell for moving on, which I imagine allowed this, shame about the others Just a thought is this why Drinkwater was on the out list?

The People's Hero Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 All those thinking it was Nick Powell! Far too much ambition and attacking flair for Nige. Hammond is ok. Adequate.
Guest Col city fan Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 I don't know much about the player if truth be told. But it's the TYPE of player that I'm happy with. The signing doesn't excite me. He's not gonna have us on the edge of our seats doing fancy tricks. No matter. By the sounds of it, Hammond is a solid, dependable ball-winner, a little older and more experienced. I said at the start of last season that this is the type of player who will bring-on the kids. Well done Pearson... I think you are doing exactly the right things at the moment.
The People's Hero Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 Who said its boring being a Leicester fan? If he really is a ball winning midfielder it's only 2 years too late. What a hero? People say he's slow on the uptake but 2 years is pretty impressive to actually start trying to deal with a problem obviously apparent to everybody, right? Some of you have never seen him play and are raving about him!

The People's Hero Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 So answer me this? Why not a signing like this or similar two years ago? You are a big advocate of a defensive midfielder. It's all you carped on about in you simplistic superficial sort of way for ages. Don't you think this is long overdue? Underwhelming signing. Half useful player. Should have signed someone like this but better 2 years ago. Instead of moaning, whinging and attacking me, try disagreeing with any of this post.

I see little point in getting into any debate with you. Judging by many of your previous posts, it will go nowhere. Have a good day mate.
Guest shearfox Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 we need a ball winner in midfield and now we have one. No complaints here.

So you can't disagree with any of it? Ill have a great day. Have had a good breakfast. Plenty lined up with the kids. Does your smugness prevent you having a good day? Or have you learnt to cope with it? we need a ball winner in midfield and now we have one. No complaints here. I wonder how far the horse has gone?
Winnershfox Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 I hear that we very nearly signed Joey Barton until Pearson stepped in. "I told the Director of football that I was desperate for us to sign an ANCHOR in midfield and I think he misheard me" Brilliant . Chuckled at this!!!

Guest Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 getting ready to slag City in the match thread then TPH
Lesta Legend Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 I hope all of those who slated Bert have the balls to come out and opologise. They won't do, too busy hiding behind their keyboards. Again bert quietly proves what most of us already knew. How under the radar was this signing! But seemingly he knew. Well done chap! Defensive midfielder and a leader sounds good to me!
