@TPH you've been wondering why you get banned, if those posts on here to Col are indicative of your usual posting style then there is your answer. You out of the blue decided to insult him, and post very aggressively. It is unnecessary and makes this forum a less pleasant place to visit. Keep it up and you'll probably get banned again. Free and frank exchange of views is one thing. But personal insults is another.

Second thing, I don't get this whole obsession with Bert some people have. So he knew about this before others great, he has a bit of inside knowledge, cool. But he doesn't deserve the shit he gets if he gets something wrong, nor does he deserve an arse rimming if he finds out something first. People are congratulating him like he signed Hammond himself. I treat any info from Bert or Toffee fox, the same way I treat the BBC sport gossip page. More accurate than a drunk down the pub, but a still far from concrete, and when they get something right, which is very rarely, I don't start thinking it is amazing and everything is gospel.

Decent signing for you guys that,

Obviously followed his career from YTS level and not only can he be solid as a DM but can push up and create the opportunities to score.

Need to keep an eye out on his temper somewhat but other then that a good player who's just a bit shy of being a great player.

Thanks for the insight, nice to know he is a good player... we have been craving for a player like him as well...

Is it 2008 again? Oakley and Clemence where art thou?

Was pretty much my reaction. I'm trying my best to not be negative but I'm not even vaguely inspired by this.

I have no real opinion at the moment as I haven't seen him play - but reports from the South coast suggest he is very decent at this level. Not sure who you are expecting us to sign, but sometimes it's the lesser known players without the ego's who get the job done.

Agree with first paragraph - it be boring if everyone had the same opinion but derogatory insults are pointless and childish to boot.

Don't think anybody is obsessed with bert he gets slated by the less patient and negative posters so I think it's only right he gets some loving when deserved (there's a good boy *pats head*) :-)

Serious question, were you inspired when we signed Wes?

I know I wasn't so I'm hoping it could be another low key signing that turns out to be a key player

Good point buddy. I wasn't inspired when we signed Wes. A couple of my Florist mates told me he was a little slow.

How wrong was I!!

So answer me this? Why not a signing like this or similar two years ago?

You are a big advocate of a defensive midfielder. It's all you carped on about in you simplistic superficial sort of way for ages.

Don't you think this is long overdue?

Underwhelming signing. Half useful player. Should have signed someone like this but better 2 years ago.

Instead of moaning, whinging and attacking me, try disagreeing with any of this post.

After their performances against us for their previous clubs, it could have been argued that Danns or Drinkwater were 'this type' of signing. After they had storming games against us for Palace and Barnsley, this place was full of comments like, 'bulldog in midfield' and 'just what we've been missing'. Only retrospectively do we know differently so overdue no, poorly thought out previous transfers by two different managers yes.

Underwhelming? I would say so because I honestly havent heard of him. Thats not to say he wont be a revelation and judging by the praise of the Saints and Brighton fans, he could well be.

In summary, people who were saying names like Albrighton, Powell, Sako etc were just doing the usual Champ Manager thing. Rumour of a transfer = name any player you know thats not in their clubs first team. The reality is NEVER like this so to be underwhelmed now is really only our own fault.

So you can't disagree with any of it?

Ill have a great day. Have had a good breakfast. Plenty lined up with the kids.

Does your smugness prevent you having a good day? Or have you learnt to cope with it?

I wonder how far the horse has gone?

I'm not having a go here but whats happened to you mate? You used to come on here for laugh and never seemed to take anything seriously, how things have changed. Your making yourself look right miserable git since your comeback.

On the evidence so far we will start most games with 3 in midfield,to avoid getting overrun or bullied as has happened in the last couple of seasons with 2 in mf.

The point has been made on other threads that Kingy, James & DD have similar attributes,in particular none are best suited to playing the sitting DMF role.

This looks a sound if unspectacular signing, the holding midfielder we have lacked. It's a bonus that he offers the experience that was lacking during the poor run last season.

We know what Kingy is capable of going forward. When James arrived he came with a reputation as a box to box player,we have seen glimpses but now he can hopefully play with more freedom. All the midfield will play a part over the season.Hammond's acquisition strengthens the squad.

Gives us the option to play a few different systems which utilise a few different players. We're starting to have options, and Plan Bs, and Plan Cs.

I agree.

Exactly what I was thinking....

I am amazed that people would consider dropping Drinky. A great midfielder, with a big future ahead of him. So much of our play goes through him. IMO Pearson will not drop him.

He's an average midfielder.

Good signing. My Brother is a Saints fan (my father is from there) and he rates him. Bringing in players is always risky (there are no guarantees) but he certainly seems to be the type of player that we need. Fingers crossed.
