samjohnson Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Have to agree with Nottingham, but Derby?? Find a disabled toilet and stick an ipod dock in it. That would beat most of Leicesters nightclubs IMO.

If you're prepared to just get pissed and lose your dignity then Fanclub and Mosh can both be sources of much fun. And even if you hate the venues, at least you're still in Leicester rather than Derby...
jonno24 Posted 16 July 2011 Author Posted 16 July 2011 Decided against it so just stayed in swadlincote. Which is shitter than a shit sandwich sprinkled with shit
Ozwin Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Everywhere is good if you've drunk enough. I've had some awesome nights in Liquid and Mosh for example and people go on about how shit they are. The latter smells a bit whiffy like, but it's decent.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 I've seen more life in a tramp's vest than Derby on a night out. Mosh is alright if you don't mind a grungy night out and Fan Club can be excellent if you're drunk enough.
Wymsey Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Mosh is alright if you don't mind a grungy night out and Fan Club can be excellent if you're drunk enough. Syn is probably the best in the city, but Walkabout there is overrated.
lcfcadam Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Syn is probably the best in the city, but Walkabout there is overrated. Walkabout anywhere is overrated, absolutely hideous chain.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Thanks for all the info guys will look out for nall of the mentioned but were going Coalville first with a couple of friends been 2 years since i walked them pavements hope the Red House is still open. Baught Lisa Lashes a vodka and coke in there in the early 00s before my Rock days Liquid Envy is the bes club in Leicester. Did you go to the Red House? Depressing place to drink is Coalville since the Litten Tree shut. Its killed off everywhere else! Whoever was asking about rock places, The Charlotte always has live bands on. Theres anothe rone too but can't think of the name
Bert Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 FAN CLUB & Mosh I think. But not so much rock. There used to be a place called Rack n Roll, it was bizarre. Snooker club with some fairly hard rock and metal rooms? That was in Leicester, right? Yup, it's still there too.
Filbert's Friend Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 O'Neills has live music on, I think, Friday nights. I'd always recommend Terrace. MOSH is good in the sense that you get the choice between the 3 floors, but not a lot going for it other than that. I'm a fan of Republic - again, you get the choice... given that they open all three rooms. Walkabout is terrible Marz is terrible And if youre 17 years old and you can't get your hands on any ID, you wanna attempt Oddbar (used to be oddesey). That's where I spent most weekends as a 17 year old (up until last month)
ramboacdc Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 mosh is alright on a friday. saturday you wanna go to redeemer/retribution if you like rock/metal.
Fosse Boy Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 mosh is alright on a friday. saturday you wanna go to redeemer/retribution if you like rock/metal. Went there once when I was 18, Couldn't get over the fact they served tins of Red Stripe. Where is it? Remember it being a top night.
Simi Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Night's out in Leicester are as shit as you make them. If you're out with a decent bunch of mates then you wont have a bad night. Obviously some people just go out hoping it's shit!
ramboacdc Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Went there once when I was 18, Couldn't get over the fact they served tins of Red Stripe. Where is it? Remember it being a top night. its near where the old megazone is. im rubbish with places in leicester but its on that roundabout under where the roads splinter into centre rings and such.
John Matrix Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 its near where the old megazone is. im rubbish with places in leicester but its on that roundabout under where the roads splinter into centre rings and such. the flyover belgrave gate
ramboacdc Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 the flyover belgrave gate yeah like i said theres probably only 5 places i need to know in leicester paddy power (work) casino filbert way hospital strip club
Brown Fox Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Republic is absolutely quality compared to the rest of Leicester. Though it's usually full of a younger crowd between 18-25 Terrace is probably the nicest bar I'd say and you could easily have a great time there.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Has anyone on here ever been to The Taps on Guildhall Lane? Heard good and bad things, bad mainly relating to the prices. I don't actually think we do badly at all for pubs / bars in Leicester whatsoever. Plenty of choice - Braunstone Gate especially is such a great asset, but clubs are clubs to me. Don't tend to have a preference, would sooner stay in a late night bar (Firebug, O Bar) than club it 'these days'. Just wish the o2 down in Leicester was a bit more central.
lavrentis Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Yeah, Leicester has some really decent Bars. Some clubs here tend to be knob central though
lavrentis Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Agree with people that said Mosh was a bit poppy on a Saturday, first few weeks in leicester I was loving it but got bored quickly of the same set list, Friday basement is much more interesting even if you are not in the music though the people down there can look a bit weird. Just like in Redeemer, went there once with people and I walked out a few minutes later. Some mates bang on about Sophbeck saying it's great but they are usually on too much Mandy to care :-/ Like I said though I would much rather go to a bar and have a good time actually communicating and having a laugh with mates than dance around like a knobhead pulling easy fatties in a club. That said though there have been good times in clubs here but I just prefer bars
Ozwin Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Republic is awful, Im not just being a hipster about it either, it's genuinely just full of nobheads lobbing drinks around and thinking they're hard cos they're wearing a shirt and trousers for the first time that week. I haven't been out in ages though, definitely need to try somewhere new. I didn't actually realise Mosh had a playlist until someone pointed it out so that's put me off a bit and the less said about Liquid the better. Envy's alright though, always have a laugh in there.

That the most accurate description I've heard of it. Rarely do clubbing in Leicester now, awful. Prefer the bars but even that I get bored as the night goes on...
Father Ted Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Liquid Envy is the bes club in Leicester. Yeah, Liquid is good if you like being surrounded by cokeheads and slappers that make the guests on Jeremy Kyle look half presentable. Been twice, never going again. Dirty place. Rockafellas on a Tuesday night and bars then Republic on a Saturday night are the best options. Sosho is pretty decent too. Agree with the general concensus on Terrace. Friday nights are terrible.
Unabomber Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Went to mosh last friday for the first time and had a pretty decent time. Can anyone confirm whether or not rockafellas on high street is £10 entry on a friday? Me and my mates thought it was a joke so didn't go in.
