Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Yeah, Liquid is good if you like being surrounded by cokeheads and slappers that make the guests on Jeremy Kyle look half presentable. Been twice, never going again. Dirty place. Rockafellas on a Tuesday night and bars then Republic on a Saturday night are the best options. Sosho is pretty decent too. Agree with the general concensus on Terrace. Friday nights are terrible. I know Liquid is an absolute dive but that place was my temple as an 18/19 year old, used to be packed to the rafters without fail every Friday and Saturday. Rockafellas in general makes me heave a little bit. Gave it a chance once (against my will) on a Tuesday - soon gave it up and went to Mosh. Friday nights in general are quieter than Saturdays but Brauny Gate always seems to have a really good vibe at the end of the week.
Ozwin Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 At the end of the day it's down to you and your mates to have a laugh, sure the club can help enhance the evening but if you're working the next day or not particularly feeling it one night then it's bound to effect the group somewhat cos you're almost babysitting them all, plus going into clubs sober is just the worst experience.

Been 2/3 times since the summer on a Friday night and Belvoir Street bars are always dead, as are the clubs. And Mosh isn't really my cup of tea. Rockafellas gets pretty rammed in that room and there can be some clowns in there but still had good nights the couple of times I've been.

Best place I think nowadays, some right milf in Natterjacks as well.

It's so much better than Belvoir Street mate, I never, ever want to set foot in a Yates'. Best place I think nowadays, some right milf in Natterjacks as well. Always feels a tonne more relaxed down that end as opposed to the High Street etc.

Always feels a tonne more relaxed down that end as opposed to the High Street etc. Yates always seems to be rammed with bellends looking to start fights. And one of the most annoying things is walking around with glass stuck on the bottom of your shoes! So cringeworthy when 17/18 year old chavs start dancing on the pole... Mind you Terrace and Fat Cats aren't too bad.
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Always feels a tonne more relaxed down that end as opposed to the High Street etc. Yep, has more of a cultural enjoyment feeling to the night rather than a 'down as much as you can and get paralytic' mood. Someone always seems to want a fight in town as well, very rarely see that down BG.
RonnieTodger Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Liquid's floor is just littered with glass and it's quite small. Anybody been to Sosho or XY since its opening night?
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Liquid's floor is just littered with glass and it's quite small. Anybody been to Sosho or XY since its opening night? Went to Sosho 2nd night after it opened. Was nice but I got the feeling the crowd was a load of people who were pretending to have more money than they did. Lovely place though, I had a soft spot for Life but it's not even a comparison.
Simo86 Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Best place I think nowadays, some right milf in Natterjacks as well. There sure is!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Was nice but I got the feeling the crowd was a load of people who were pretending to have more money than they did. I've no problem with people buying vodka or champagne / fizzy wine as part of a group - fair enough - but when people act as if they're Donny Trump because they've ordered a bottle of Veuve Cliquot as they think they've been extravagant really gets my panties in a bunch for some reason. I'm just an angry young man.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Pretty much just described the whole situation you were looking at on the night. Christ. I'm still tempted to try it out when I'm next in leicester though, used to quite enjoy Life on occasion and it's not Republic which is a huge bonus.

That was the opening so I'm sure it won't be full of those sorts now. Yes, Republic is just awful, god awful.

I don't mind it. Obviously I don't make a habit of it, but when I have work early or I am otherwise not drinking, I'll still go out and just not drink. Don't find it too bad; rather be sober amongst drunk people in a club than a pub. Pubs just get aggressive
AdamN Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 You can pretty much enjoy any club if you know what to expect. Republic as a club is excellent, but as has been said, on Saturday nights it's full of absolute knobheads. If you're a student, you're much better off going on Mondays, which are identical except for the almost complete lack of chavs. That being said, if you can get a good group of mates together and can manage to ignore the fact that you're surrounded by cavemen in shirts, then by all means give it a go. And yeah, if Mosh is your thing then it's usually a good laugh. A lot smaller and dirtier than the likes of Republic, but if you're expecting that then there's no problem. Good if you like your 'alternative' stuff, especially on Fridays. And if pulling 40 year olds is your thing then there's always Fanclub on Saturdays...
scottthefox Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Has anyone on here ever been to The Taps on Guildhall Lane? Heard good and bad things, bad mainly relating to the prices. Don't think anyone has answered this question yet so I will. Went in the taps about a year ago with a group of mates and had a really good time. If you stick to the pouring your own pint then it's not too pricey (bottled beers and shorts are pretty steep) and its Estrella Damm which is about as decent as lagers come. You get sat at a table that has one lager tap and several glasses (I'd advise booking a table at weekend as it does get busy). They turn the tap on through a system behind the bar and you're good to go. When you're finished drinking you go up and pay for what you've drunk at the bar (I believe it's charged at around £3.30 a pint, not too bad considering the nice atmosphere in the place and the novelty of pouring your own pint). Hope that helps.
Bugg Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 You people in Leicester are spoiled compared to the absolute shit in Stoke when I lived there Every single club is full of "are you looking at my pint" type of people.
Unabomber Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Went to mosh last friday for the first time and had a pretty decent time. Can anyone confirm whether or not rockafellas on high street is £10 entry on a friday? Me and my mates thought it was a joke so didn't go in. anyone?
Tom17LCFC Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Even as a 19 year old I hate hitting town in Leicester now. Will usually be out in Notts where the nightlife is fairly decent on the whole, and it's not full of the insufferable pricks that infest Leicester town centre on a saturday night. Much prefer a nice session down braunie gate with a few mates now.

I thought it was fiver last time I went in, might go up as the night goes on though.

goose2010 Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 after the Wednesday game i got told i was too drunk to go into mosh ended up in the casino because of that bouncer! went in the duke of rutland earlier on as well and had some of the strawberry beer was pretty impressive.
Tom17LCFC Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Do Forest fans not go out in Notts? lol probably happier spending a quite night in after yet another defeat. To be fair, I only go out in Nottingham on weekdays, so can't really comment on what a weekend's like there, for all I know it could be worse than Leicester! So much more choice though, and a lot more people out tend to make it seem much better. The whole atmosphere seems different as well.

Nottingham is fantastic on weekends, when you compare gatecrasher to what we've got it's going to be. Always thought you get a lot more coppers out in Nottingham as well than here, seems to work.
