Tom17LCFC Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Nottingham is fantastic on weekends, when you compare gatecrasher to what we've got it's going to be. Always thought you get a lot more coppers out in Nottingham as well than here, seems to work. The gatecrasher in Nottingham is absolutely terrible mate!! I think I read somewhere there's something like 360 bars/clubs in the city, so basically 1 for each day of the year. I suppose to be fair, the nightlife there is expected to be better with it being a bigger city.

Was absolutely hammered but was pretty impressed. Did go into the VIP section mind with table service.
Unabomber Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Sorry I missed the question as well, can pretty much back up everything here, fantastic night out. Great for xmas parties as well. I thought it was fiver last time I went in, might go up as the night goes on though. This was at about 10:30 so we were just went elsewhere.
Samilktray Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I enjoy nothing more than going out to 1 of Leicesters resident hot spots, Sosho or Republic preferably. Dressing up in my ill fitting Topman or River Island suit and merrily sipping on a bottle of Grey Goose that me and my home boys have all chipped in for. All whilst sitting in a VIP booth, eyeing up the scantily clad ladies and poking fun at all those pesky students with they're Jägerbombs and plimsolls.
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 This was at about 10:30 so we were just went elsewhere. hmmmm pretty sure I was later than that, this was about September, might have gone up. Tenner is a bit overpriced tbh for that place.
The People's Hero Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Was nice but I got the feeling the crowd was a load of people who were pretending to have more money than they did. Doesn't that account for almost everyone when you go out? I mean I could face reality but its not much fun on a night out whinging about the economy and my failure in life and drinking tapwater trying to steal sips of sluts' mojitos.

This was OTT though, remember one guy walzing up, buying a bottle of champagne then asking the barman if he could let him off £2 or something to that. If i'm skint I'll head to the Tavern and wallow in my own misery with like minded people, you'll have a much better night out as well and spend less. yeah that was our feeling. will have to check out braunstone gate next time. Go for it you'll enjoy it.

I reckon we should go out drinking together on the understanding that a) you don't really look like Chris Moyles and b) I can afford one round in four (possibly less if you take me somewhere nice you old charmer). ps where did you accumulate your vast wealth? It must either be the rock'n'roll world of insurance underwriting or the roulette table, and lets be honest, are they so different?
Soar Fox Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Has anyone tried Ghost yet (Manilla) or simpkins as the older people would know it by. I used to go regularly when it was Manilla. "If you can't pull in here you can't pull anywhere" is the first thing my friend said when I went in there as a fresh faced 19 year old. He was right there was numerous where my manager had to pick me from around leicester on a Sunday morning to go football.
SystonFox Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Don't tend to go clubbing in Leicester anymore just bars but used to frequent creation (liquid/envy) Zanzibar, life, Manila, chilli whites, parody, undecided and occasionally after dark.

Believe me I don't have 'vast wealth' I can assure you, a couple of years back it was good, that's gone now. I'll quite happily buy you a pint or two at a home game of your choice though, I'll even tell you a story about a roulette table where I was convinced I was going to make millions and ended up owing Nationwide five grand.

Tomorrow. Swan and Rushes. I'll be the guy with the Maidstone accent, ie Grarss, Glarss, Cor-Blimey etc. Pint bagged! ps I liked believing you have vast wealth so I'm going to keep believing it anyway.

I'm in London unfortunately this weekend, Cardiff game would be ok though. It's hard enough trying to believe it yourself.

I'm a one-game a year man mate. I just try to talk about our performances with sufficient conviction that people believe I was there.... I WAS THERE MAN!

The People's Hero Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I reckon gout will get one of the other of us before then. I assume you exist mainly on gin, red wine, port, red meats and cheese like me?

I'm fairly sure I already have bowel cancer. No cheese. Cider, Vodka, Whiskey, Gin, Beef, Fry Up's, Stakes and Flour based things that rise in ovens. Gravy, that's important.

I've saw a few photos of MattP on twitter, he definitely looks like a man who's made his money in the gambling industry.

I know it as 'The Mission' but I used to go to Harvey's instead, much better place.

Tommy G Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I went to the old Manilla a few weeks back, it was ok nothing special. They were doing the champagne sparkler thing or whatever it was which was at but embarrassing for the people that ordered it. We're in Leicester not Essex
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Don't think anyone has answered this question yet so I will. Went in the taps about a year ago with a group of mates and had a really good time. If you stick to the pouring your own pint then it's not too pricey (bottled beers and shorts are pretty steep) and its Estrella Damm which is about as decent as lagers come. You get sat at a table that has one lager tap and several glasses (I'd advise booking a table at weekend as it does get busy). They turn the tap on through a system behind the bar and you're good to go. When you're finished drinking you go up and pay for what you've drunk at the bar (I believe it's charged at around £3.30 a pint, not too bad considering the nice atmosphere in the place and the novelty of pouring your own pint). Hope that helps. Sorry I missed the question as well, can pretty much back up everything here, fantastic night out. Great for xmas parties as well. Cheers for the reviews gents. The People's Hero Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I used to go in the casino in Leicester fairly regularly partly because I'm a high roller but partly because if you were at least seen to be gambling free sarnies and the odd free g&t could be yours. All yours.
