ScouseFox Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Clubs round here are boss. Whenever I've been out in other cities it's been a bit shit. Different kind of night out. For instance places like Leicester, London an stuff tend to be that you find a place to go as soon as you go out, pay a fiver or tenner to get in and stay there most the night. When we go out in Liverpool you go somewhere to start, few drinks, bounce from place to place, stay somewhere if it's got decent music and decent birds, bail if it's full of sausage and they're playing overly aggressive house music or something gay. Generally the dirtier, darker and scattier the club the more fun everyone will have. Sophbeck was the one place I'd choose to go back to in Leicester, moody as fúck down there. I go to pubs pretty often but that's usually a night where you go just to see mates, have a seat and drink loads of beers. Clubs are for having a dance finding a bird and getting fúcked.
ScouseFox Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 It's also much fúcking cheaper to go out here. I can regularly pre drink, pay for taxis, pay for drinks in town, get so goosed I don't know my own name and get a scran before paying for a taxi home all off about 25 quid.
Dan Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 I absolutely hate clubs, i'm a pub drinker with the occasional bar gig. I also like to get my business done early, i.e you'll often find me having my first ale at the weekend well before midday and therefore i'm absolutely arseholed by the afternoon and in bed with chunder in my shoes by the time most people are stepping it up a level on a night out. London is far too poncy as well in regard to clubs, there's a few indie clubs i'll go in when my mates come down but again i've usually got curry in my pockets and my widgey hanging out my flies that i'll be escorted out within seconds. I'm also very offensive towards women so the pub arena is perfect for me. London was fvcking awful when I went. Shit prices literally everywhere and we could hardly find any club. One of the worst nights out I've had although I do put a lot of that down to the events between us lot rather than the city itself, although for a capital city it was massively underwhelming.
purpleronnie Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Prices are very high in london so are a lot of the wages, I loved going out in london.
SemperEadem Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Leicester is what you make of it, always a laugh with the boys. For me firebug and mosh is my sort or music. One thing about Leicester is its stupidly pricey.

Fox92 Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 I mainly go pub when there are a few of us, or for a basic catchup etc.. I like going clubs more. And I'm usually in a state where I don't care what the music is like etc... The only thing I dislike is when the bouncers are sometimes pricks, I've been rejected a couple of times because I've been too drunk (not true), although I just wait five minutes and have another go at getting in. Back at uni next week anyway, so can't wait for that. Nights out around Manchester are fantastic, really enjoy it (Way better than my hometown where there is basically fvck all).

London is one of those places where you need to know where you're going, which is scandalous for a capital city. For example in Manchester you can rock up without a clue and end up having a spot on night but in London it can be pony if you've not found out where to go. However, London has the best array of pubs in the world. I am in my element every weekend down here, I often pick an area and just go swiggin' and you get to experience so many hidden gems that haven't been ruined by tourists and hooray henry's. If you ever are in London again and want a decent indie club then Borderline is your place. It's not too bad but i'm sure there's far better. If you want pubs then i'm armed with a portfolio of about a thousand
lavrentis Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Might be facetious but I find it funny MattP calls it Down and out
Ozwin Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Nights out are only as good as the people you're with anyway. People get caught up on the details too much. Tuesday Mosh is wicked though.

TBF this is how I do it in Leicester these days. I get bored of clubbing after an hour or so we end up getting to fan club at about 1.15. Then Sophbeck if we can hack it. Went to Spearmint Rhino last week after Fan Club which was good for something a bit different. I'm disappointed (but not hugely surprised) that London is getting a bashing on here as I'm going on Saturday My mates working down there so hopefully he knows the places to go....
Kitchandro Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Nights out are only as good as the people you're with anyway. People get caught up on the details too much. Tuesday Mosh is wicked though. I do agree with this somewhat. For me there's a lot of luck involved in a good night out. There's a lot of factors which need to be right otherwise it can just be a total waste of time. My mates can either be a right laugh or can be in a taxi home before 1. The music is sometimes quality and sometimes poo. Etc. I do like Mosh on a Tuesday but it's not really practical now me and my mates are all working full time.

I'm disappointed What sort of gaff you after? If you want boozers, casinos and bars i'm your man, if you want a club then it's a no from me. PS having read that back it sounds like i've invited myself, don't worry i've not done! Haha i'm up in Leics on Sat for the football anyway.

James. Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Hopefully all of the above. Any tips would be much appreciated You can get whatever night you want in London. Generally people who bash didn't plan in advance and ended up in a Wetherspoons in Leicester Square. Angel: good quality bars and restaurants on Upper Street (more upmarket) all the way up to Highbury & Islington station and Essex Road (less upmarket) Old Street / Shoreditch: not what it once was but still a massive selection of bars particularly around Curtain Road / Rivington Street. Very popular at weekends. Brick Lane: aside from the overrated curry lots of bars and clubs all the way up the street, very close to Shoreditch as well Dalston: the new Shoreditch. Gritty bars, undergroung clubs, amazing Turkish restaurants, lots of narcotics. Loads of options between Dalston Kingsland and Stoke Newington West End: not my bag but do a bit of research and you'll find loads of options around here, particularly in Soho Camden: some decent boozers and normally a pretty buzzing atmosphere Clapham: again not my thing but massively popular and a big array of bars. Huge "young professional" hotspot so equate that with decent ladies West London: swanky, upmarket, posh birds, etc etc.
Fox92 Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Big fan of Manchester, my mate lives up there and I much prefer it to London. You ever been in Big Hands? One of my favourite bars in the country, Guy Garvey is always in there off his barry. No never, although just looked it up and it's at the top end of Oxford Road. Thats probably why. Guy Garvey! I'm still hoping to see someone top famous, best I've got so far is Lee Peltier and James Vaughan!
Ric Flair Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Hopefully all of the above. Any tips would be much appreciated Soho is an obvious choice for pubs and bars, it has the most per square metre than anywhere else. Borough/London Bridge is also full of good pubs. If you're heading out somewhere central then this is where you're best to go. If you're more than happy to go somewhere a bit further afield then Angel, Fulham, Clapham or Shoreditch is well worth heading to. A selection of my favourite pubs are: The Harp - Covent Garden. Tiny little place but absolutely magic, it's more towards Charing Cross than Covent Garden. The scrumpy they serve is absolutely lethal, about as strong as wine. Get a load of that down yer! Faltering Full Back - Finsbur Park. Not very central but if you want a quality boozer to start the afternoon/evening off then go here. It's got a great outdoor area that has heaters if it's cold and it's full of fit birds. Got a thai kitchen there too so the scran is spot on. It's good for watching the football too. Bradley's Spanish Bar - This isn't so much of a pub but a tiny bar just off Oxford St. You'd expect it to be the pits and full of helmets but it's actually a really good bar. Music is good and it's well worth going. Sadly i'm banned as me and 6 of my mates outstayed our wlecome in there after it being about the 45th pub on a 2 day bender for Swignopoly. Check it out though, again full of boilers. The Ship - Holborn. Absolutely heaving every night monday - friday but on a saturday it's less busy as the workers have fooked off back to their houses in Chelsea and left the place to be frequented by us normal folk. Does a bloody good pie and scotch egg an'all. The Ship - Wandsworth. Even better than the one above but well out the way sadly. It's down near where I live and you're unlikely to be south of the river I take it? If you want a place to start the day though this is a good one. Right bang on the river, there's a huge outdoor area overlooking the thames. The food is amazing, the burger is better than any burger i've had before and i'm a burger feind mate. Founders Arms - Southwark. If you want a boozer on the river but central, rather than Wandsworth here is where you should go. It's right by Blackfriars bridge and has a decent amount of seating right on the river. It's decent and it's then not far to a load more quality pubs in Borough/London Bridge. These are obviously spread out and you're not going to want to go to them all, if any of them. Pick an area like Soho, Angel, Shoreditch and you can't go wrong. The best casino in London is Palm Beach in Mayfair. Again i'm banned as my missus abused the manager because we were too larrupsed and they stopped serving us booze. It didn't help she accidentally put a £25 on a number and it came in and they had to pay her nearly a grand just as we were being asked to leave. It's exceptional in there, I had a good chat with Michael Dawson and Jermaine Jenas and there's always some famous folk in there. Espresso Martini's are phenomenal. The best bars tend to be in Shoreditch in my opinion or Covent Garden/Soho. I was out in Bar called B-Soho the other night, off Poland Steet (side street off Oxford St) that was very good and you didn't have to book a table/pay to get in. Mr Foggs in Mayfair has just opened up and is the place to go to, but you'll need to book a table. It's also about fifteen rats a cocktail, sod that. Get over to Shoreditch and check out Bedroom Bar, Callooh Callay, Queen of Hoxton and if you can somehow blag your way in Shoreditch House. That's full of the rich & famous. It'll come as no surprise to say that I upset a few in there and shan't be welcome back. Have a good'un pal

I'm still hoping to see someone top famous, best I've got so far is Lee Peltier and James Vaughan! Hahahahaaa my mate lives on Acomb Street, a proper hovel but it's only 5 mins walk to Big Hands. Get yourself in there, I also met the guitarist/singer from I Am Kloot in there.
ScouseFox Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 I saw Neil Danns absolutely barneted dancing in a private ViP booth by himself one night last year. He looked a bit like a dick.
Tom17LCFC Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Think you make your own fun regardless of where you are. If we're at uni we'll all pre-drink, bit of FIFA, music and all that then head out to a club for the night, maybe hit a bar quickly before for a few jagers or shots. Think it helps I'm in Nottingham as well, top night out. In Leicester I always prefer heading down Braunstone Gate for a few beers then see where we end up, tend to find less dickheads down there in comparison to the centre as well.
Guest MattP Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 Some cracking pubs mentioned in this thread. Probably my favourite thing about London is the pubs, all traditional still and have their own idiosyncrasies. As mentioned anywhere near Smithfield market is superb, couple of pubs with some superb hog roasts on and a sports bar that's beautiful as you go into the market. Hoxton Square is fantastic for a night out even if the doorman around their tend to be a bit cuntish. Can't go wrong in Camden great people, Chinatown is good towards the bottom end. If you are going out in Leicester just let yourself go and do the shithole tour, High Cross, Lamplighters, Tavern, Squares, Globe etc etc You'll have a good time. Failing that Orange Tree is probably the best this side of town.
