Confidence

There you go...for one of the most verbose people on the planet, I've come in 50% under budget.

Worthless advice for others, of course, as you've either got confidence (which my younger self didn't have) or you develop it somehow (which I did by about 27) or you never get it.

When it comes to achievement: Confidence > Ability, I'm afraid

How important is confidence among the qualities people get out of private school, I wonder?

Confidence only gets you so far imo. Depending on your line of work of course. If you work in a proper profession then a lack of ability will soon be exposed. If you work in some bollocky crap like marketing then I imagine you could build a whole career out of bullshit.

I was mainly thinking of confidence in personal/social relationships, not work. When I was young, I didn't particularly lack confidence in education/work situations (I was sometimes clueless, but weren't we all)...but was hopelessly lacking in confidence at dealing with other people socially. I always expected them to have a low opinion of me, particularly females. So you can probably mark me down as another "Fvck more" response!

Whoopy, 1000 posts! "Get life" is my note to my older self...
