Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 In fairness, Leicester city centre often bares a resemblence to Mumbai. More seriously, I'm surprised to see Warsaw as the 5th most congested in the world (which just goes to show you can't make judgement based on nationalities!)
Webbo Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 I think this survey must have been done while all the roadworks were on. Outside the new Sainsburys (6 fecking months btw) has been a nightmare. I got stuck at some major roadworks on Soar Valley Way a couple of months ago.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leicester-world-s-100-congested-cities/story-20040277-detail/story.html 8th most congested city in the UK 72nd most congested in the World Wank City for traffic. Made even more untolerable at the minute by the fact their digging up nearly every way out of it. Horrible at the minute.
Zingari Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 It could have all been so very different if only they'd have listened to Konrad
davieG Posted 6 November 2013 Author Posted 6 November 2013 It could have all been so very different if only they'd have listened to Konrad If they'd listened to everything Konrad suggested there wouldn't be building older than the 1960s left and we all can see how the 60s plus buildings have stood the test of time.

I saw a youtube video about him a while back and the city historian/narrator claimed he was unfairly and too harshly blamed for much of the 60's vandalism. I really don't know though
SeCrEt FoX Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Londons only 5th??? I hate working down there. We must put at least an extra 4 hrs on a day and thats starting from bottom of M1 just traveling . Been to most major cities in the UK and nothing compares to London. I dont think we that bad really. Birmingham and Notts are gotta be worse surely

I really don't know though Maybe, but it's what I read somewhere. I don't think he's entirely to blame for his thoughts and ideas as it was the architectural mood of the time, I recently saw a programme where the Glasgow City architect had plans approved to completely flatten whole swaths of Glasgow City centre, if it had gone ahead it would have looked like some modern USSR high rise soulless city. Fortunately it was delayed and scrapped before it got going and there's still some magnificent pieces of architecture in Glasgow.
purpleronnie Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Surprised London is as low as 30th. congestion charge
Father Ted Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 Not surprised with the amount of money Leicester City Council waste on pointless roadworks.
Smudge Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Not surprised with the amount of money Leicester City Council waste on pointless roadworks. Undereath the surface are water, gas, sewer, street drainage and tv cable lines. Having a river run through the city requires bridges that need maintenance. In what way are they pointless?

Smudge Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Your location is fantastic, reminding me I need to re-work through Early Doors again. Ah thanks, I had never seen it until last year. I live in the US and my mate always used to rave about it. I bought a universal DVD player and got a UK version off Amazon. We love it, I can watch it over and over. Do you like circuses Michael??
absolutelegend Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Another BS survey compiled by people who have clearly never spent any significant amount of time in most of these places.
Asha Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Quite surprised by that, but even more surprising to see Åódź third in the world list. I've spent a few weeks there and never saw any traffic problems or anything else that would suggest it was a congested place.

The scene where Tommy gets up with a lollipop stick after ranting about the people he works with is one of the best timed comedy scenes I've ever watched. Such a good show.
ADK Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 They've been digging up the A426 to put in a new bus lane since the start of the summer. Frustrating as it causes disruption and I don't even want a bus lane.
OzFox Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 It could have all been so very different if only they'd have listened to Konrad Got a spare monorail going here if you want it. They're just tearing down the Sydney one. Many people thought it was an eyesore
lavrentis Posted 8 November 2013 Posted 8 November 2013 Learning to drive in Leicester must be terrible
