And if you mean to imply we're equally responsible for the British empire then I think you need a history lesson.

Just have a massive street party with music and booze and free love. Invite all the locals, regardless of faith or colour to join in and have fun and get to know each other. Completely fly in the face of all that hate and bitterness. Slavery is tens of thousands of years old. All ancient civilizations practiced it, but it was the British that ended it. Although it is on the increase today.

Pretty much every European power involved itself heavily with slavery. The Belgians were committing a genocide in the Congo eighty years after we abolished slavery, the Americans fought a civil war over slavery and the Spanish enslavement of indigenous peoples in Central and South America got kicking in the sixteenth century. Britain got rich from slavery, but we were far from alone in that. The early US was practically built on slavery of Africans and the ethnic cleansing of the Native Americans.
