Is the middle one "No Crowd Surfing?"

If that gets abolished that's it for me in this country folks. They can't take away my getting lobbed about over a bunch of strangers!!

I seriously doubt Ken's even read it.

If it's actually happened then it's news, just because it doesn't affect you doesn't mean that people in the area shouldn't be bothered about it. The photo of the stern looking man sticking a poster up saying "sharia controlled zone, islamic rules enforced" does kind of prove that he does want to impose sharia law on this country.

Isn't that exactly what you were saying?

I notice you didn't quote this part of the article;

If this was a thread about the Westboro Baptist Church which has about 40 members worldwide You wouldn't be complaining about sensationalism.

As Shrappers says, I would if the language and tone was heavily implying they were taking over and stirring up pre-existing national tensions.

Most articles on the WBC are generally on the lines of "everyone look how crazy Fred is and laugh" not "shit your pants, Shariah is coming!"

I'm not actually sure why I'm bothering, though, given you're pretty much the archetypal, entrenched, Mail apologist. If you can't actually see how that article is more inflammatory than the story warrants then that's your issue, you're quite clearly not going to listen to me.

A five page argument on syntax, semantics and the implied connotations of print media doesn't excite me like it used to. ;)

"Tempting though it is to dismiss Izzadeen as a barmy extremist — which he surely is — the huge influx of Muslims into such areas has turned his campaign into a potentially explosive issue

I also very much doubt that the use of the word "explosive" was just accidental/coincidence.

I don't care if people hate the Mail, that's their prerogative. I do get tits off with the phrase it the Mail, without any kind of counter argument as if just repeating  something they've heard someone saying on TV means they've won the argument. Fair play to you as least you've tried to make an argument even though you're quite obviously wrong. ;)

Is this how law works now then? If I put a little sticker up on a lamp post saying 'Richard's Law Controlled Area - all women must walk around topless, you must be drunk at all times and if you walk past my house you have to pay a £50 toll' - does that mean everyone's going to obey? Of course it doesn't. just more attention-seeking shit from a bunch of irrelevent wankers. 5% of the population is not going to be imposing anything on the other 95%, end of.

I hate the EDL, but I'm surprised they didn't get together and head straight over there for an anti-Sharia street party. I'd like to see that little ginge try and enforce the 'law' then.

That'd be fantastic. That'd be my idea of an anti-religious extremist movement, forget getting angry and shouting Ingerland in town centres.

Just have a massive street party with music and booze and free love. Invite all the locals, regardless of faith or colour to join in and have fun and get to know each other.

Completely fly in the face of all that hate and bitterness. You never know, if ginge got drunk and laid with good friends maybe he wouldn't be funding terrorism.

Why do people keep using ginge as a semi-offensive swipe at that bloke? Criticise the stupid beard if you can't help your hair colour.

…it can't be helped, but it heightens how preposterous he is.

Much like if he was a dwarf.

Oh god, please someone Photoshop that

Never really understood why red hair gets ridiculed in the first place, I suppose because it less common and humans have a tendency to discriminate against anything that is less common.

I'm saving rocks just in case someone needs a good stoning in the years to come.

Actually though, to "impose" any kind of radical system such as Sharia law there would probably have to be a war first. And a complete destruction of Parliament and government as we know it. A law cannot just be imposed because some ginger bearded twat says so and his mate whips up a few extremists. It would take a complete radicalisation of almost the entire nation for this to happen.

That would be fantastic but I guarantee you'd be slandered as far right and troublemakers even if your intention was good and it was open to all, for a start you would attract some undesirables and that's what the press would focus on.

It would definitely be seen as provocative.

Not to mention the local authorities or even moderate Muslim community would be happy to put up with that on its doorstep.

Just because they are against extremists doesn't mean they want thousands of people drinking on the streets in their local community.

Good point

Vimto, jelly (halal friendly and "extra gelatin" for balance) and ice cream and legal herbal highs only!

I've read the first page to great amusement and decided to stop as I had to rep Finners twice and that's far too much.

Following on from my previous post, it's occurred to me that in the past 200 years, theres far more of us (GB citizens (and the decendants of such)) in foreign lands who have imposed our laws and belief systems on the native population.

It's quite karmic really. Dammit! See how foreign belief systems are infiltrating everyday life!

I think you'll find the Welsh. Irish and Scots had a hand in there too :P
