Union FS Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 Hi all, We've heard much about Ipswich Town's ticket pricing, and were shocked to discover that tickets brought on the gate today stood at a frankly horrendous £40. Ipswich Town have something of a reputation for scandalous pricing with season tickets costing up to £1061 this season, £311 more than even our most expensive season ticket in the West Stand and more even than current Premier League champions Manchester United's most expensive offering. It's not just season tickets either, home tickets in the padded seat area at Portman Road cost up to a mammoth £63.50, hilariously justified by a free matchday programme. It appears that City fans have voted with their feet as well, with just over 1100 tickets sold. To put that in perspective, that's less than half the amount we took to Watford for an early kick-off live on Sky. Perhaps even more surprisingly, it's less than we took to Yeovil on a Tuesday night. It's not all negative though, with the Twenty's Plenty campaign gathering pace in the top two divisions as Barnsley and Derby County became the latest clubs to offer reciprocal deals of £15 for adults with concessions ranging from £5-£10. Ultimately; we would encourage Leicester City to investigate this avenue with willing clubs to ensure packed away ends with a cracking atmosphere, all whilst saving the most loyal fans a packet. That's for the future though. What we would like to know for now is this; what's your limit for an ordinary match ticket for an ordinary Championship match? Obviously games such as the win at Forest in May are priceless, but for a trip to Suffolk or anywhere else in late November we'd expect different answers. As well as the poll, please state your opinions on this thread in readiness for both an article and the hope that LCFC are reading. Many thanks and Up the City!
Kitchandro Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 I have paid £30 for Forest away before I think, but I wouldn't pay that much for any game. So generally I'd say £25 but never more than £35. Though, in certain circumstances, there might be a game I just wouldn't want to miss.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 £25, but it's not a hard limit. A price over that is enough to put me off, but I'll pay more if I really want to go.

Basingstoke Fox Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 QPR is listed as £30 for a half decent seat, which is a very irritating price because it's one that I really want to go to and I probably will still go. I paid £31 to go to West Ham a couple of years ago. I really don't like paying £30 or more, particularly for a 2nd tier game. But I've put £35 as my actual limit. If/when we get promoted back to the Premier League though, this will become the norm.
promised land Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 I have paid £30 for Forest away before I think, but I wouldn't pay that much for any game. So generally I'd say £25 but never more than £35. About right here although 35 sovs for a 2nd tier game to me is too much. Forest, Derby and what used to be Cov I would expect around 30, Ipswich,Brighton,Leeds can all do one at those prices.
LCFC FOX Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 As a 17 year old nothing more that £15. Which most teams are in this division to be honest. Just Ipswich and Leeds are about £28 for under 18s!

Oh no doubt it's too much, but I'd also consider £25 too much. £20 is overpriced really. If I only paid what I thought each football match should be priced at I would have been to very few games in my life. That's the issue, people love going to the football so they're willing to pay more than they think is right.
Guest Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 Do you want to know my limit or my opinion on what a fair price is?
Union FS Posted 23 November 2013 Author Posted 23 November 2013 Do you want to know my limit or my opinion on what a fair price is? Both really. Obviously people's limits may or may not exceed their opinion of a fair price.
Libertine Dream Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 In terms of a fair price and the max I think it should be is around 23 quid but I'm willing to pay upto 30, obviously I'll reluctantly still pay the extra for big games but not for games like Ipswich
Hugo Sanchez Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 Anything over £25 quid to watch a game of football in any league, is a rip off. I'll admit I payed £36 last season, to go Leeds. Never again though. £20 would be a ideal price.
ozleicester Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 40 quid is simply a joke, I can see the "premium" A League games for $25 (15 pounds) I can see premium Aussie Rules games for $25 (15 pounds) I can see the ashes for $35 (22 pounds) forty quid is taking the piss
gazfox9 Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 Fair play to the city fans tho, voting with their feet. Hopefully clubs may start to get the message. My only guess re Ipswich prices is that they're the only club of a decent standard for a few miles around, so feel they can charge what they like.
Jace Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 I would pay £40 for decent seats against a good Premier League team not away to Ipswich though, Championship to be fair £25 is far too much but I expect it and pay that

True, although an average gate of 16,716 so far this season perhaps shows their pulling power as weaker than the club think. Almost half the stadium isn't being used for most games.
RonnieTodger Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 It can depend on our opponents. I'd never pay £32 to see us at ****ing Portman Road. But I've paid £32 at Upton Park and £30 at Stamford Bridge.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 I've not voted as I don't have a limit as such, if I want to go to a game I'll go regardless. What would put me off would be factors additional to the cost of the ticket. Today for instance, its miles away, would take ages to get there, we never win there and then add the cost of the ticket and it does put me off. I won't go to Leeds either, because I refuse to pay that amount to be forced to sat- Again another contributing factor. I want to go to QPR and shall happily pay the £30 though will make up for the cost by driving down to London rather than getting the usual train at £50 return. I suppose its fans like me that make the situation worse though I don't actually go to that many aways. Should we ever get promoted though we'd just have to deal with it. Its one of the reasons why bar the promotion party I don't actually want us to go up.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 Anything above £25 is a rip off. That's my limit.
Maybes Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 Refuse to pay over £30 for any games other than local derbies. Shan't be going to Brighton and didn't got to Ipswich. Obviously not been to Bellend Road for a number of years.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 From here on in will go to most aways but pricing is shocking, especially today although the lad (eventually) got in for a quid Probably shouldn't pay it because it doesn't help but second half today was quality
Russell sprout Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 You can argue that the pricing down the city is to steep aswell though, hence why we are 10000 short if a sell out each week,I personally think it should be £20 adults and £5 kids, wigans prices are 2nd to none, you could buy 2 adult and 2 children season tiks for £550,£300 for 1 adult and 1 child, although they are a rugby league town,Dave whelen has managed to put 12000 bums on seats oppose to the 2000 when he took over due to the great price structure they have? If we did that I recon we would have 30000 sth?
Winnershfox Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 £25 has to be a limit. Although it depends on travelling. Living in Reading I would pay more. Watford, Bournemouth,QPR would be prepared to up the anti. Home games mind you cost a round fortune!!
NathanBlueFox Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 being a under 18 it isnt too bad for me but still literally every penny i earn goes on football, and for what? to them im just a number.
Bayfox Posted 23 November 2013 Posted 23 November 2013 I dont have a limit. But I'm glad I dont live in Ipswich. Must be some serious wedge in those parts.
