Langley Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Now what? The target is going to be staying up. It's going to be a long, long season. After 5 games we're at the bottom of the league. We have one point to show for it. Losses at Hull, Chelsea, West Ham & QPR. We have drawn with Manchester United. Next 5 games are Swansea (h), Villa (a), Stoke(h) Cardiff (h) and Birmingham (a) in the cup. What do you do? Do you change the manager or do you stick with Nige, maybe blindly but accept that if we did get relegated that he would stick around and give it another go to get promoted? 2010/2011 - QPR, Norwich & Swansea (sacked, left, left) 2011/2012 Reading, Southampton & West Ham (sacked, sacked, there.) 2012/2013 Cardiff, Hull, Palace (WTF is happening there but there still, there and left) If you're Top, do you come out to the fans and say "We'll stick with Nige if we go down he's the right man to get us back up and we'll be debt free" or "Here is your P45 Nigel, our new manager is Xddnknfef DDofedfe-Smith."

If we're top, I'd be delighted.
Langley Posted 28 November 2013 Author Posted 28 November 2013 If we're top, I'd be delighted. He's still taller than you
Soar Fox Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I'd stick with him to be honest. It would cause more upheaval and know doubt a new manager would come in and want to sign a load new players in January. If the worse did come to the worse and we did get relegated I'd feel a lot more confident that would be competitive and challenging at the top with Pearson in charge.
Matt Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Take it game by game! Please. These kind of post are almost as bad a knee jerk reactions, albeit alot more positive, one extreme to the other, don't get me wrong abit of future planning isn't a bad thing, but please lets enjoy it and take things game by game.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 I we went down with a whimper ala Derby County then you'd have grounds for thinking that maybe he isn't cut out for it. But if we go down first time round with a bit of a fight then under no circumstances should we get rid. He'd be the best person to get us back up again the following season, and with a few extra million in the coffers to achieve it.
foxfanazer Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Have I been in a coma and missed something?

Guest MattP Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 For a start I'd be wondering why we were assigned four away games from the first five matches. Secondly I certainly wouldn't sack any manager five games into a season.
Guest MattP Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Plus Xddnknfef DDofedfe-Smith will have whiter canoes than Pearson.
Lionator Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 No wonder other clubs call us arrogant with ridiculous threads like this.

Because obviously I have said that we're going to win the league at a canter and we're going to do it regardless of the inevitable dip in form we're going to have. No, this is a theoretical question that IF we get promoted and IF we have a bad start to the season and IF a million other things. If we don't promotion this season do you think they'll give Nige "one more, one more season?" They saw their name in lights the first time when they appointed Sousa & Sven. I'm genuinely interested in what people's thoughts are if presented with the option of either going down with Nige and maybe coming back up again OR giving someone else ago? A lot of you were calling for Nige's head before the Forest game, the season was written off & he was going to get the sack in the summer. Whereas, what I said on the phone in on Monday night is I'm not celebrating until we're actually up. But when we are there and we have a bad start do you stick or twist?

I think that if we went down with fight after a tough season that we should re-group and go again. Reason why I'm asking is because it doesn't seem that there is a formula that there is to follow. QPR - Spend quinzillions and go down, Norwich slowly buy one or two and do okay. Swansea end up playing some of the best football around and win the league cup. Reading spent near to nothing and went back down with a whimper. Southampton, well, their season has been incredible this year but not last. West Ham stayed up twice but not sure about this season. No strikers, nothing. Cardiff and Hull have bought a couple of quality players and have done very well. Holloway seemed to have a scattergun approach to buying players and a few key players from last season still out with injury.
Monsell1976 Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 If we were getting beat week in, week out by the end of November I would get rid, and bring in someone with premier league experience, and the time to recover the season. If we do go up I would expect us to be in the bottom half of the table, but would still expect we would invest to stay in the premier league and be competitive, as long as we are, stick by him, and if we just fell short and was just relegated, give him a season with a strong squad to get back up. I know the thread is asking a question " what if", but I would prefer to stay in the here and now, as wether to stick with Pearson if we are bottom of the premier league may never happen. And to answer the question would I stick with Pearson if we do what we did last season, no I wouldn't, he would have had his chance, and as I said in the summer I would bring fresh ideas, my opinions but I'm sure there are supporters that would give him another 3 years.

Can't you remember what happened last time round?
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 wow this is a dilemma I would love to have in a years time!!!

I find that interesting, Last season we got to the play offs with the lowest amount of points ever recorded, storming start but ballsed up after Christmas. I think if that happened I don't think that the owners would be as patient as last time. Especially with FFP. I've always been a fan of Nige and will be. I was of Sven. I wasn't of Sousa. Oxford away, even though it was a pre-season friendly it looked as though we were just... rubbish and it took a DJ Campbell free kick to save our skins. wow this is a dilemma I would love to have in a years time!!! I wouldn't.
ollielawrence Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Really silly post... One game at a time... Your setting yourself up for a big fall if you think we're getting promoted easily... We'll do it with more hard work and dedication! Come on City
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Did you miss the part where he said it was a theoretical question?
Haydos Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Jeus Christ he's just asking a question. We're joint top of the league with over 1/3 of a season gone, it's perfectly fair to ask as an 'if'.
