Here are my thoughts

Firstly I'll start with what I think in bullet point form.

  • Need another striker
  • King needs to attack more like he used to. If he does this he will score more goals
  • Morgan is having a shocker so far this season
  • Miguel is out best defender at the moment but his performances won't go noticed
  • Drinkwater and James need to get their act together, If they do that they are lethal
  • Knockaert is soooooo good
  • Nugent doesn't offer anything
  • Vardy works hard but rarely gets a reward

This is the team and formation that I think needs to be played

              Schmeichel

RDL - Moore* - Miguel - Konch

        James - Drinkwater

                  King

   Knockaert - Wood - Dyer

*Simply Moore because Morgan is having a shocker so far this season

For me Drinky has been really good this season.  But agree with Nugent being a bit anonymous at times and Wes not being his usual self.  Maybe he is slighlty unsettled because he wants to tie up a new contract.

  • Need another striker - Just drop Nugent and play Wood

  • King needs to attack more like he used to. If he does this he will score more goals - He's only played in one of these two losses and managed to score.

Morgan is having a shocker so far this season - He's not having a shocker but he is playing no way near as good as last season.

Miguel is out best defender at the moment but his performances won't go noticed - I'd rather have Moore

Drinkwater and James need to get their act together, If they do that they are lethal - Drinkwater has still been one of our best players for the full 90 in the last 2 games.

Knockaert is soooooo good - Agreed

Nugent doesn't offer anything - Agreed

Vardy works hard but rarely gets a reward

Are you kidding? Morgan was poor today but is no coincidence that Miquel has only played a handful of games and we have lost a few of them. Not to mention that you think he's our best defender yet you don't even know his name!

Oh yes, we're only the 2nd highest scorer's in the league with plenty of attacking options, let's bring in some more strikers, that will help?!

During the slump last season certain players went missing, it's time to not allow that to happen again, drinkwater and dyer come to the for of my mind.

Tuesday was shocking, first half today was shocking, but now is the time for the squad and management to prove lessons have been learnt from last season and nip this in the bud, a crisis in confidence will not wash again.

I just hope all the early hard work doesn't go to waste, and we get over this dip in form.

The last two performances have a lot of last season about them, come on boys prove it's just a little blip and let's beat burnley.

"Nugent doesn't offer anything"

He has 9 other outfield players that need to supply him, especially the midfield. If they don't give him service, then he will have little impact on the game.

People say I'm constantly defending him, and yeah, that's right. You can have a partnership of Puskas and Di Stefano, but they won't score goals if they have no service. You know, Vardy didn't do anything more than Nugent did he? In fact, Vardy lost the ball (after Drinkwater did so well) which led to Brighton's second goal. The strikers had no service at all which obviously influences the strikers.

I will criticize Nugent when it's required, like I do all the players. But when the rest of the team (maybe apart from Drinkwater who looked our only positive) play poor, then I'm not going to pick out one player. It's so easy to criticize a striker when he doesn't score, I know it's his job, but Nugent (and Vardy), do so much more for the team which seems to pass people by. I saw Nugent win the ball back twice in our half, one time right down near our corner flag and the other when Brighton were countering and Nugent chased him before winning the ball back with an excellent tackle.

I still personally feel Nugent is our best striker. He's scored 9 in 16 this season hasn't he? It's not to bad in my opinion. Yes, several of them goals were penalties but you've still got to score them. I mean, how penalties did Murray score last season for Palace? You will not find many strikers better than Dave Nugent at this level, especially with our current finances.

Screw playing a team with 3 up top, it offers no width (evident from today if you were at the game) just doesn't work with our squad

I don't think it's a coincidence that the players who are not playing to their usual level are those whose contracts expire this season. I'm not excusing them but the uncertainty is not helping anyone and despite what NP says in the press, it blatantly is a distraction.

I would have thought that would work the other way. They should be working hard to make sure they're worth a new contract, here or elsewhere. I very much doubt any of our players are losing any sleep over the thought of not playing for Leicester City next season, all they care about is a getting new contract somewhere or other, and for that to happen they need to be playing well.

I really would love to know wtf is wrong with Nugent. Had a good game at Ipswich but that apart he has been dog shit. Not worth having on the pitch more often than not.

Really hope he does get dropped soon

I would have thought the same thing - they should be busting a gut but the modern footballer doesn't seem to work like that. Also, I wasn't suggesting that it's out of any sense of loyalty to LCFC - loyalty to the club that pays you is a distant memory these days. Instead I think that these boys KNOW for a fact they're not getting a new contract and the result is a) they're actively weighing up and looking for other options and so b) their focus is no longer LCFC but finding a contract somewhere - hence the anaemic performances.

We can rate individual players but should also look at the team as a functioning unit.  Yesterday there were holes in the formation where there should have been players, especially at the back.  Also, the desire of the team to go out and win just didn't seem to be there first half, and that's a leadership issue.  Apart from Lloyd I couldn't see where we were going to get a goal (until Knocky came on in the second half and changed the game).  We need a team out there that is organized and wants the win.
