lcfc matt Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson insists he has no plans to raid the January transfer market for a new striker. The Foxes saw their failure to turn pressure into goals cost them another two points on Saturday as they were held 1-1 at home by Burnley. A stalemate against a fellow promotion chaser is no bad thing, but Leicester know they could have taken more from the contest Pearson concedes as much, but does not believe that he is in need of added firepower. He saw David Nugent score his 11th goal of the season against the Clarets, Jamie Vardy put in another lively performance and has Chris Wood to welcome back into his plans in the New Year. Pearson told the Leicester Mercury: "I am not necessarily looking to bring in a striker. "It depends on whether you can afford it and who is available. "I don't want a striker who isn't as good as what we have got. There are plenty of strikers out there, but are they better than what we have got? "Chris Wood will be four to six weeks. We have two weeks before the window opens, so we will see what we are like then."
indierich06 Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Nigel Pearson in keeping cards close to his chest shocker. If everything Pearson said was true, then according to him we'd never have signed anyone! Can't recall him ever saying we're in the market for a player.
Dan Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Pretty sure he said he had no interest in Chris Wood too. Non-story.
suffolk fox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 No cos knowing him we will sign another defender!
foxfanazer Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 We all know by now Pearson doesn't reveal transfer plans
Danno Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 What squad number will the new striker get then?
sylofox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Yeah lets do like we did with sven tell everyone we want to spend lol
foxfanazer Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Yeah lets do like we did with sven tell everyone we want to spend lol Exactly. You can criticise NP for what you want but how he conducts his transfers is spot on imo
Russell sprout Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 We defo need a striker that can finish, but let's not forget we are 3rd,3 points off top with what we have,we've been average to poor of late but let's be honest,we've not played a brilliant 90 mins all season, won games we would usually have lost, and is it realy any surprise we've lost to sheff wed and Brighton if previous seasons are anything to go by,we have won 3/4 of our games without being in 5th gear, even if we didn't sign another strike(hope we do though) I still think we'll be there or there abouts for automatic promotion in May meself.
Foxy harry Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 What squad number will the new striker get then?
The Horse's Mouth Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Judging from those quotes he didn't even say he isn't looking, he said he doesn't want to sign someone is isn't as good as what we've got up top
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 No plans for a new striker, eh. Hmm. Let's start panicking chaps. :w00t:
lcfc matt Posted 16 December 2013 Author Posted 16 December 2013 At what point did you hear me say this was true........none I've simply put forward some information I came across so why does everyone feel the need to dig at me for doing so!this forum is so laughable I thought we all supported the same team!!!!!!
gurn Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Supply and demand. He says stuff like this so that agents know he might always walk away from a deal, rather them putting the heat on him and making him pay through the nose because they know what he's after. It's like buying a car, really. You get the best price when the dealer starts to sweat, and you prove you're willing to walk out on it.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Lets be honest if we put a bid in for a striker Billy Davies will just triple it anyway.

No-one's having a dig at you? Just laughing at Sky Sports for thinking they might get an honest answer out of Pearson over a transfer rumour. Lets be honest if we put a bid in for a striker Billy Davies will just triple it anyway. Someone get Barry Hayles' agent on the phone for Big Nige now. Would love to see him rock up at The City Ground!

I've got £10 million to spend too, now - how much do you want?'
Simonb Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 i think a right winger is priority anyway would give us more options with knocky, get a right winger in, we could afford to play one up top with knocky in behind in games where two static strikers won't work
