MrSpaM Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I'm guessing everybody would rather we re-signed Ryan McGivern instead?!? I know Ryan was a left back, but that's what you call a s*** defender, Was is in a completely different league.
Bayfox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Not gonna get into a debate on his quality but I like the guy. Think he's done well for us at cb. but having sat and watched the football league show back on Iplayer last night. Yossi ran into the back of him. I reckon having seen the replay a few times he may have actually headbutted the back of our man mountian. in which case yossi should have been booked.
filbertway Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 His positional sense is diabolical at right back, it's like playing with a left back and 3 centre backs.
Guest shearfox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 One moment of madness for me was when he throw himself down in the box and got nowhere near the ball or player thank god, why do that? very poor... I hate seeing him at right back he just can't play there.
WardyisPukka Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Sorry he's never a RB his positional sense is woeful and has very little pace to keep with the average wingers of this division let alone the top ones he got completely skinned by Conway at Brighton in the first 5 minutes . At CB against Watford he was a beast - NP should use him as a backup to Moore and Morgan
little Brian Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 be interesting to see if we get bullied at Millwall next week , we need a old head or two to win this league ,thats a well known fact ..... Eddie Kelly was past his best but knew all the tricks , lets try not to kill all our players on here
MC Prussian Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I'm guessing everybody would rather we re-signed Ryan McGivern instead?!? I know Ryan was a left back, but that's what you call a s*** defender, Was is in a completely different league. I don't see how you can compare the two - again, it's a case of two players standing at different points in their respective career. McGivern was 19 (!) when he was loaned to us, basically coming straight out of the Manchester City youth academy. Wasilewski is 33 and has had his best years behind him - don't get me wrong, he's still very solid and puts in a great amount of effort when employed as a CB. Besides, McGivern wasn't that bad. Young and inexperienced, but not bad. Coincidentally, I'll always remember him for that crunching tackle at Loftus Road when we won the game 2-1.
MrSpaM Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Besides, McGivern wasn't that bad. Are you having a laugh?!?
Soar Fox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 lol McGivern not that bad? He was probably one of the worst defenders I have seen since I started going down to watch Leicester. That includes the Levein & Rob Kelly years
MC Prussian Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 lol McGivern not that bad? He was probably one of the worst defenders I have seen since I started going down to watch Leicester. That includes the Levein & Rob Kelly years Which other 19-year old left-back loanees have been better than him, I wonder?
Unabomber Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Which other 19-year old left-back loanees have been better than him, I wonder? Greg Cunningham for one.
MC Prussian Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 PVA He was already 20 when he joined us and had close to two dozen games for Chelsea, Coventry and Newcastle under his belt. Minor differences, I know.
Unabomber Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 He was already 20 when he joined us and had close to two dozen games for Chelsea, Coventry and Newcastle under his belt. Minor differences, I know. Well how many 19 year old left backs have we even had on loan?
MC Prussian Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Ben Mee Primarily a centre-back, not a left-back. Also 20 years of age when he had his loan spell with us.
foxfanazer Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Looks solid at centre back, never a right back though. Although I like his strong approach he needs to chill out with these high elbows because it's only a matter of time before he gets a red card for it
Guest MattP Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Which other 19-year old left-back loanees have been better than him, I wonder? Every single other one we have ever had. He was absolutely garbage, up their with the worst defenders I've seen in a city shirt.
Loggy88 Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I rate him think he gives us a bit of steel we needed? Plus what he did with Benayoun was never a elbow, and you could argue Benayoun just ran into him. Good signing for me.

Not a nasty one but refs are quick to give penalties and red cards for them nowadays. Just don't want him to cost us
Mack Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I like this lump of a defender however he plays very close to the mark. For example at Loftus Rd on Saturday he forced the Referee into a tricky decision with his challenge on Benayoun late on in the box. His experience will be of value in the run in.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Wasa epitomises exactly why I'd have the manager shouting instructions from the touchline. He's big, tough, strong and experienced yet periodically makes wrong decisions. If instructed adequately, I think he's a real asset to the club. He will give his all in a City shirt and I love that level of commitment. BUT, he needs telling. .. and seems the sort of player who would respond well to direct instruction. Thats my feeling on him from what ive seen so far.
GingerrrFox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 The absolute shite we've had play for us at RB in the past 10 years and people are calling out Wasyl. ****ing gold at Christmas I tell you.
