foxfanazer Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 He is so positive with the ball at his feet, never looks scared to run at defenders
Mack Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Lineker in his prime would have been delighted with that goal on Saturday. Absolute text book predator's run and finish. Vardy is the man to fire us up.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Yeah Drinky has been superb. One of my mates thinks he's shit and that he just plays negative passes. Can't even be bothered to argue with him anymore. If Leicester play well, Drinkwater has played well. Simple as that Interesting this. My 18 yr old son (usually a good judge of a player IMO) also says that Drinkwater is overrated. When looking at stats (Assists, goals scored, shots on target etc) Drinkwater falls really short. Craig Bryson, for example, central mid at Derby has scored 8\9 goals and has plenty of assists to his name. Stats wise, Drinkwater looks very average. However, its the less noticeable stuff that Drinky does well. The marking, the harrassing, the getting his toe in. Hes also got a great engine on him. Where I worry is if our strikers hit a barren spell. Drinkwater cant shoot for shit... hes not gonna get the side many goals. But thats not really his game. He does what he does well. But hand on heart I do sometimes consider his game limited.
Rich Fox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Just hope vardy stays injury free as our chances of automatic would be over if he got injured for to long. That's how important I think he is to us.

inckley fox Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 The 2 players at the start of the season that were getting the most abuse - Vardy and Dyer. Our 2 best players this season - Vardy and Dyer. The 2 players that Ive constantly hailed as class - Vardy and Dyer. Shows how little most on here know.. I'm not sure Dyer was 'getting the most abuse' on Foxestalk at the start of the season. I think at that point Konchesky, St Ledger, Whitbread, Schlupp, Drinkwater, King, Nugent, Futacs and Waghorn were all a lot higher up the list. As for you 'constantly' hailing Vardy as 'class', well, you were wrong. He had a poor season last year and has got a lot better, even by his own admission. Hence the thread. His first touch and shooting may not be of the level you'd expect from a striker at a top of the table club but they have improved enough for his work-rate and pace to draw much deserved attention. Is he 'class' now? He's a decent Championship striker who deserves his place in the side and continues to improve, which he'll need to. But last season he failed to make the step up and was sensibly dropped for the second half of the season. He had shown potential but only in the same way as Schlupp or Waghorn. I'm not sure I saw much 'abuse' from fans - it tended to be 'he's not good enough', which he wasn't at the time, rather than 'he's utter dog**** and needs to **** off'. Anyone who levels this sort of abuse at players - be they in the squad like Schlupp, Wood, Wasilewski, GTF or Nuge, or out of it like Waghorn - might also end up looking daft. Equally, though, anyone who declares that Schlupp or GTF are 'class' would be as foolish and premature as those claiming that they 'always knew' Vardy was the messiah. And Dyer... the people who give him plenty of credit for his pace, his constant running, his commitment to the club, but equally question the consistency of his crossing and shooting, surely know a great deal more about football than you have demonstrated in the horribly self-aggrandising post above!
Bluetintedspecs Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Interesting thread, my son and I had the "If we stopped the season right now, who would be your players of the season?" conversation the other day and both of us said top 3 Lloydy, Vards & Drinky and it was a paper thin decision with if we could Lloydy and Vards joint with Drinky only just behind!I personally said that with time and experience Vardy could be good, he has exceeded my expectations massively though great season to date. COYB.
Rasmic123 Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Drinky has to be player of the season so far, looks a class above in most games and has been bossing midfield. Vards is well up there as well and Morgan and Moore have been very good too
MrSpaM Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 The way he took that goal at the weekend was class As far as I can tell, he's regained the same form he had at Fleetwood, proving to be well worth the million we paid for him.

But hand on heart I do sometimes consider his game limited. I'd have to disagree with this. From what I've seen he has a great strike on him but he just never seems to shoot or get in a position to shoot. His finishes against Charlton and Middlesbrough weren't from a player who can't shoot. I remember some interviews after the Middlesbrough game as well from the other players. One said he hits shots like that all the time in training. Personally, would like to see him shoot more if he could!
filbertway Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 My favourite thing about this thread is that everyone is calling Vardy, "Vards" yet every other player seems to be getting the standard "y" at the end of their nickname. My question, if his last name was Varder, would his nickname be Vards or Vardy? P.s I love the man. That goal against QPR reminded me of the Deane/Dickov partnership!
deanolegend1989 Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 @ inckley fox(some reason my quote button isnt working) - This season Vardy has been 'class'. 7 goals is a very good total(all from open play and some good and important finishes in there). If you read some of my posts in the close season I was constantly saying he will do well if he was given the chance..a majority of people were saying 'ship him out, he'll NEVER make it'..'league 2 is his level' etc etc. This isnt them thinking, he needs to improve..this is people thinking he wont ever have a chance here and would be happy if he never walked onto the KP again! They were wrong simple as that. Last season he had a decent start(which is why I knew he'd turn good), scored a few good goals..should of had a brace in that Blackburn game, which was a big game at the time, and generally looked decent. He got injured and then was wrongly blanked out. Wood comes in, scores a bundle in a few games, everyone poking his a*se, a few games later were struggling..made for Vardy and Waghorn to get chances but no it didnt happen. To say he was 'sensibly dropped for the 2nd half of last season' is utter crap! If he wasnt dropped would we of done any worse? haha. About Dyer, No they dont know more. People who say 'his running is good but thats it' or 'he'd be a sunday league player without his pace' is awful knowledge. Its the kinda cliche that is the easy option to say. fact is, his mental side is brilliant..always keeps his head, reads the game well, great timing of runs, great positioning..etc etc etc. Any coicidence with as you put it 'awful shooting' he still has 7 goals? I understand to the average football fan, all they see is whats glaring them in the face (yes dyer is fast..of course..) but tbh Dyer is a very good player who just isnt technically the most gifted..Theres alot more to football than technique, and despite having not the best technique..if you look through some of the goals hes scored for us, theres some very technically gifted finishes in there.
MooseBreath Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I'd say he's a lot more consistent so far this season though. Fantastic little player in my eyes. I also slated him before but he seems to have become more attack minded this season. Some stat I read somewhere said he has the most completed passes in the opposition's half this season! How many of them passes went forwards? I don't not like Drinky but he almost always plays the easy backwards pass. I'm sure at one point against QPR he picked up the ball just outside their area, and within 10 seconds had contrived to get the ball all the way back to our goalkeeper. Successful passes, yes. Good ones, no.
oxford blue Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 I agree he has made a great improvement this season - I think the main reason is that his first touch is so much better. It shows the huge difference between Conference and Championship football; I think that as this is much better his confidence and overall game has improved too. One point not mentioned before is his terrific work rate in chasing down the opposition.
Unabomber Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 That goal against QPR will do him the world of good, his confidence will be sky high now. He seems a right litter scrubber, but he's ours....OO JAMIE VARDY!
justfoxes Posted 23 December 2013 Posted 23 December 2013 Lineker in his prime would have been delighted with that goal on Saturday. Absolute text book predator's run and finish. What a little gem he's a great find yes his first season with us was pretty poor, but he definatley has stepped up to the mark this season. He will only get better with time and nurturing from the seasoned professionals and coaches a big leap from conference to championship level and this season he's taken it well !! Some of his goals this season have been sublime and his work rate is more than impressive. He will only get even more awesome with time and can see him being a top goal scorer for us in the future, he's got a great footballing mind and his first touch is better game by game ! Well worth the £1m we paid for him he's going to be a great player for the foxes !! COYB Vardy is the man to fire us up.
J.Lisemore Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 Love a striker like Vardy, he's reminding me more and more of Dickov, the way he's closing down the goalkeeper/defenders the way he has been, not only that, but looking a lot more useful in front of goal. Fair play to the lad, been top notch this season up to now.
The Mac Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 Oh Jamie Vardy they thought you were a clown Oh Jamie Vardy you came from Fleetwood Town Oh Jamie Vardy they were wrong about you. Well a few posters on here would have you believe .As a town fan its great that your getting to see now what we had for a season. The step up was massive for him but class will always show in the end .If you lads get to the prem i hope your manager gives him a chance and what a story that would be for the lad.As for him not shooting enough in a few posts above rumour has it our chairman gets 2.5k every time he scores so maybe hes only gets one shot each half. Good look for the rest of the season and don,t be suprised if he gets players player fans player and managers player of the year. Oh and stick it to the Rams and shut my cousin up.
Number 6 Posted 24 December 2013 Posted 24 December 2013 For me Drinks is the conductor of our Orchestra. The actual instrument players will get the credit but it's him pulling the strings.
