Facecloth Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 I was gutted when Kitson left! But we'd never have experienced the joy of Ormondroyd if he hadn't left!
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 But we'd never have experienced the joy of Ormondroyd if he hadn't left! Phil Gee's mullet was the biggest plus point..
Vlad the Fox Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 I can remember reading that over some geezers shoulder on the bus all those years ago. I was fuming, selling kitson and for Ormondroyd at that. How wrong was I. 'Who needs Cantona when we've got Ormondroyd.'
Vlad the Fox Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Ahhhh, and in the days when transfer rumours went in two stages, firstly being spotted in local supermarket or sat in their car at red traffic lights, followed by nothing or reported in the mercury. We survived.
Alexikokopops Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I used to be friends with Phil Gee on Facebook. He kept inviting me to shitty events in Derby so I had to cull him. Soz Phil.
ithuriel Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Proved to be a good bit of business in the end, good old Ormondo .
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 This is an old paper silly - check the date on the paper, ROTFLMAO
foxoffderby Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Kitson was a top player, gutted when he left. The players we got in exchange did their best and achived cult status but we got the raw end of the deal.
gerrytaggart Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 You may well mock me but i have it on good authority that ormondroyd was only 1/2 human.
Filbert_Ross Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I remember being pissed off when we sold Kitson. Think it worked out for us tho.
Vlad the Fox Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 If I remember rightly hadn't kitson gone on a remarkable scoring run in the first half of the season that led up to the transfer and a run which he could never repeat?
fazzyfox Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 I remember in the Mercury there was a one line kind of thought / summary of the day and they covered their arse by going with "Little by Little" - you could take that as bit by bit the squad is taking shape or what a pathetic inadequate bit of business by Brian Little. To be fair that perhaps reflected the uncertain mood and reaction to the deal, Kitson had been on fire, away to Derby in particular he had run at them all day and ripped them to bits but Sticks had always looked hard to handle against us (though he never really looked as much of a threat for us - never seemed to jump or attack crosses just had a head that was 18 inches higher off the ground than anyone else's). The fact that we got promoted before Derby ( and indeed against them) with Sticks making a contribution vindicates the decision but I was probably one of the " Here we go again, selling our best players grrr" at the time!
Mickey O'Neil Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 I went Watford away, not sure if it was that season or the season after. I still remember Ormondroyd's looping header from miles out going in! Go on son!!
allotment-fox Posted 25 January 2014 Posted 25 January 2014 Gather lofty Ian came in handy a few times changing light bulbs

Mickey O'Neil Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Bobby Davison Sh!t!!!! That's a blast from the past! I can't remember if I'm totally honest. I think Ormo looked stunned he'd scored!! I remember walking by some allotments outside the ground and the Watford fans singing "Watford, Watford, ra, ra ra!!!!
Vlad the Fox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Gather lofty Ian came in handy a few times changing light bulbs ...in the floodlights.
