Bert Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Surprised Finners hasn't already started this, especially with it being on Saturday! Love this tournament, always get good games and it's free to air too. England have a tough start away in Paris this Saturday. Sadly I can only see there being one winner (of the tournament) and it's the Welsh. Wales France England Ireland Italy Scotland.
Finnegan Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 I almost started this a few times but always on my phone and couldn't be bothered to write up my usual essay and link all the squad announcements and fixtures. Mixed feelings about this. France typically win after a Lions tour and we've got trips to Twickenham and Dublin. I can actually, seriously, see us surprising everyone and finishing third or fourth if we get a few knocks. Roberts and JD2 already looking a bit delicate and I can't shake the feeling you owe us a slap at Twickers. If France beat you on the opening day, I think they'll win it although I think they'll lose in Cardiff and not do a slam. To be fair, though, if I'm right about England v Wales and you win in France then who knows? Can't see where your creativity is coming from, mind. If you do win it'll be ugly. Italy for the spoon, Halfpenny for points scorer.
RobHawk Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Can't wait! I love the 6 nations! Supporting the Welsh myself, only got into international rugby since i lived there and i love the passion! Think England will be close! French aren't the force they once were!
Chilwell_Fox Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 I have welsh parents so have always supported Wales as my first team. England have improved a lot over the last few years since the world cup which was a disater (apart from Tulilagi)
Uncle Albert Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 We were planning on getting the Eurostar to Paris for Saturday but never got round to sorting it. Not the biggest fan of Rugby, will watch the England games if there is no Liverpool game on the box.
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Not a massive Rugby fan either but normally have time for some of this, will probably watch Saturday although if we lost that'll probably be it
Tielemans63 Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I love the Six Nations - such an open championship. Other than the Jocks and the Italians I think anyone could win it.
Finnegan Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 England hand out two debuts and a third cap in an immensely inexperienced backs division against France. Looks a very transitional side. I've been quite worried about our Twickenham game but if that's the team you field? Heh. Lancaster must have either a lot of faith in his pack controlling possession and Farrell ticking over points / territory or absolutely zero faith in his established backs for 2015. France equally have a lot of youth and new faces but if they can release Fofana and Bastareuad in the midfield I'd love to know what Billy Twelvetrees is meant to do about it.
tartanowl Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 I can't see us topping last years effort finishing 3rd and as the 2nd highest points scorers in the table. I'm fancying the French to make up for last year and win. 1. France 2. Wales 3. England 4. Ireland 5. Scotland 6. Italy
Nalis Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 As an Irishman, I predict we will finish a disappointing 4th. Full predictions: England Wales France Ireland Scotland Italy As always, it should be competitive. Anyone but Wales for me, nothing against the Welsh in general except when it comes to rugby, no other rugby playing nation matches their sheer ****ing arrogance...
Guest Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 first game full of mistakes. Teams should win at home, So France should beat a depleted England team.
Finnegan Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 If Gatland's teams (I include the Lions in this) have a consistent flaw, it's definitely a failure to put the shit teams to bed.
Tielemans63 Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 Fair play to England, to lose to a side as shit as that French team is some achievement. The French were so shite.
Finnegan Posted 1 February 2014 Posted 1 February 2014 The French were poor second half but they're being massively underestimated by a lot of people. Yes, they had a poor 2013 but they have some fantastic players. Before last years 6 Nations we'd lost a record number of games and let's not forget, France's losing streak included three games against the ABs.
tartanowl Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I knew France would win yesterday but the Italians were very impressive. I'm going to amend my prediction for the teams that haven't played. I've got a feeling we will beat the Irish today. 1. France 2. Wales 3. England 4. Scotland 5. Ireland 6. Italy

I've got a feeling we will beat the Irish today. 1. France 2. Wales 3. England 4. Scotland 5. Ireland 6. Italy If it was at Murrayfield, maybe, with respect I can't see you winning in Dublin. After watching both games yesterday I still maintain we'll beat France in Cardiff, I've seen nothing to convince me otherwise. I'm also now more concerned about Ireland than England! You knew the BEEB and the press would cry on about how brave England were, how close it came, how unfortunate they were to lose so late, etc. They were second best in (and "lost") the first half and despite France almost literally disappearing for half an hour they never really punished them. We're going to have to be 200% better than we were yesterday to beat Ireland but if we do (and we've probably, historically, got more chance beating them in Dublin than Cardiff!!) it's on. Very on.
Sparky Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I don't think any side look in particularly great shape. Think France will win it and England or Wales will nick 2nd. I think we'll win our games at twickers but we should be further down the line than we are with putting a team together for 2015. 3 debutants in the backs yesterday was a big ask in Paris. Wings look a real problem. I do like Billy Vunipola at 8 he looks a decent find. Thought Danny Care was excellent too.
Bert Posted 2 February 2014 Author Posted 2 February 2014 Finners just can't give any praise to England

I think the Irish are there for the taking this afternoon. A team in transition that have been playing average at best recently. After our performance against Australia and our second string's in Bloemfontein I'm confident we can get something out of today.
Finnegan Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Finners just can't give any praise to England I frequently do, historically. Billy's run and offload was solid for the try but there were three poor performances yesterday and only really Italy deserved much praise.
Nalis Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I think the Irish are there for the taking this afternoon. A team in transition that have been playing average at best recently. After our performance against Australia and our second string's in Bloemfontein I'm confident we can get something out of today. I thought it was possible too particularly as we are missing Sean O'Brien and are generally inconsistent, the autumn internationals vs the Wallabies and the All Blacks summed that up ... After the first round of games, France and England probably played the best, Welsh and Irish victories didn't really tell us much. Still sticking with my prediction of England winning the 6 nations!
purpleronnie Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I thought The Irish might win the 6 nations, but I know nothing about rugby.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Can't believe people think the French will win it. I thought they looked very average yesterday. If England hadn't given them a head start they'd have won. They've got some great players but they look slow to me and they were fortunate to win yesterday. The Welsh will win it imho.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I thought The Irish might win the 6 nations, but I know nothing about rugby. Clearly not Ronnie! Teacht ar Éirinn!
The Doctor Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 I thought The Irish might win the 6 nations, but I know nothing about rugby. A few years back maybe, but their side at the moment is very much a work in progress again. England need to improve drastically in terms of taking chances if they want to win it, France were abysmal for most of the second half, obviously Scotland and Italy will be battling it out for the spoon again - I'd fancy the Welsh to win it at present, unless England become more ruthless.
