Guest Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 England were clearly the best team in the 6 nations this year. Unlucky not to pull off a bigger win. Ready for France to play a blinder tonight.
MPH Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Marked improvement for England this year ending with a great performance against Italy... But lets not get our knickers in a twist just yet, Matching the Aussies and the all blacks will be one thing but being better than them in the world cup is something else.....
Guest Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Hogg sending off was right but it makes the game a joke. Should score a 100 now.
Guest Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Feels pretty wrong willing the French to win but for the next 60ish minutes I'll be doing just that
Finnegan Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Feels pretty wrong willing the French to win but for the next 60ish minutes I'll be doing just that It was a bit like that for me when Ireland played at Twickenham. I want them to win now, though. I mean not just for the usual "anyone but England" mentality and not even due to any celtic-cousinship, although both help. I just think O'Driscoll deserves to have won more over his career than the serial bottlers in green have delivered. It's pretty awful that their golden generation delivered one Grand Slam and nothing else.
Finnegan Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Fair play to Ireland and it's worth a moment of reflection from everyone for Brian O'Driscoll. What a talent. Great game for the neutral, too.
purpleronnie Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 I thought The Irish might win the 6 nations, but I know nothing about rugby. mmm maybe I do afterall.
Tielemans63 Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Great win for Ireland and BOD but England will be kicking themselves, they were the best side in the tournament.
Finnegan Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Great win for Ireland and BOD but England will be kicking themselves, they were the best side in the tournament. Not the first person to say that in this thread and I disagree, definitely. The best side won it. They lost a difficult fixture in Twickenham to a good England side but Ireland have been consistently excellent throughout the rest of the tournament. They made us look like school boys, they ran up a huge points difference lead on everyone else with comprehensive wins elsewhere and ground out a very solid win in Paris where England lost. I'm not saying there was a huge difference between the two, clearly either would have felt hard done by to lose and it's a shame that the tournament can be decided on points difference. But England were no better than Ireland at all.
notnow john Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 Congratulations Ireland . I was half expecting a French capitulation but it was a cracking contest. A fitting climax to a brilliant six nations.
Guest Posted 15 March 2014 Posted 15 March 2014 both France and Ireland were pretty poor. English clearly the better team in the tournament. Things not looking good for the Northern Hemisphere teams in the world Cup.

But England were no better than Ireland at all. We were unlucky in France and that was what ultimately cost us. Encouraging tournament for us as we're going through a restructure. Mike Brown was the man of the tournament. Absolutely first class.

Things not looking good for the Northern Hemisphere teams in the world Cup. I think this is a bit harsh to be honest. At the same time though, our team of the 00s were deffo worth more than 1 championship so **** it, I will bask in this!
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Why doesn't O'Driscoll carry on until the World Cup? And why wasn't he the captain?
Nalis Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Why doesn't O'Driscoll carry on until the World Cup? And why wasn't he the captain? Cos he is past his best and its better to finish at the top than jumping the shark. We made Heaslip captain and stuck with it. Might be captain on paper but OConnell and ODriscoll are the real leaders in the team.
