MC Prussian Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Pearson should have got us promotion last year! Fact! Pearson will get us promotion this year. Fact! Why? because he is undoubtedly much improved as a manager. Fact! He is better now than he was last year, or the year before that or the year before that. Fact! Full Stop! Anyone who does not comprehend that will comprehend nothing. Just two slight alterations to your list: a) Pearson could have gotten us promotion last year. b) Pearson is highly likely to be the manager that gets us promoted this season (chances of another slump excluded in the equation). I admire your outright optimism, but personally, I wouldn't get that far ahead of myself in terms of predictions. This overconfidence thing has a tendency of biting back.

Having players more used to playing with each other. Having young players who are now playing their second full season in this league rather than their first. Having players who have gained experience from their first year in this league and it's harsh lessons. It's just all about Pearson being a better manager by.... playing virtually the exact same team he did all of last year, playing in an almost identical manner to how they played for most of last year. In a way people haven't changed their views at all. Last year it was the mangers fault for everything and the players aren't responsible for anything. This season, it again is down to Pearson, and the players aren't responsible for anything. And we are accused of looking at things in a black and white manner.
El Sieffsi Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Not seeing or not wanting to see the big picture is possibly the issue? I think it's harsh to label Pearson as a failure..or worse..because he didn't get us promoted..yet. I'm not one for stats about when we could get promoted..I'll celebrate when there's a P next to Leicester City..cautious but optimistic. But Pearsons stats are relevant and to me look like a pretty good effort with a chance of improvement..maybe a reason why the owners have stuck by him? It would be harsh to label someone a failure if their exam results were B's and 1 A..rather than straight A's.
Mythyaar Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 It would be great if all the ‘anti-Pearsonites’ came on here and admitted that they were clowns, and that they had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. But it’s clearly never going to happen. All the unreasoned, short-sighted, spiteful and ignorant posts came from unreasonable, short-sighted, spiteful and ignorant people. I’m not having a go, it’s just a fact of life that stupid people say stupid things. To expect those people to come on here and say “I’ve taken a long hard look at myself, and have learnt from my mistakes†is also unreasonable. If they had the capacity for intelligent thought and self-development, they wouldn’t have been saying such silly things in the first place. Bear in mind that it’s taken a run of 9 wins in 9 games to shut them up. A draw against Watford and they’ll all be back telling us that ‘clueless’ is ‘tactically inept’ and that Neil Warnock is the answer. Leave them be. (In their caves). All the negative scum will be out of their caves and back in their element next season if we do promoted and inevitably lose more games than we win. Watch all the "Pearson is a championship manager only" and similar posts. Let's all live for the moment, enjoy and celebrate this fantastic season while we can!!

Pearson is now doing what he should have done last season. If he felt he had to play 4-4-2 all last season he should have got more defensive work out of the two strikers and Knocky and Dyer as he has this season, and he should have picked James and Drinkwater in the middle as he has done this season. If that were not possible last season he should have played a 4-3-1-2 style to better combat those teams who 'bullied' us last season. To only get 12 points from a possible 48 was absolutely dire and Pearson at that time ( I stress at that time ) had no idea how to get better from his players. Now he does. What is so difficult with all of this for people to understand?
ealingfox Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 I still think that had we got someone more experienced post Sven we would have gone up quicker - sure we may have come straight back down but we would have been a stronger side and not so hamstrung by FFP - so it was a balls up abandoning the plan and although we look like we are on the way up now at last, there are very few of the current team who will make the grade in the Prem meaning a rebuild of Palace type proportions is on the cards. Whether NP has the ability to do that or the skills to manage a team of higher paid players will remain to be seen - good for him if he can but we are a good 7 or 8 players short of a Prem team and as for a squad???? To sum it up and then I'm off because the mod thing seems unfair - it has taken him four years almost to be tactically aware of what is needed to get out of the Championship (probably) he will get around 12 games in the Prem I reckon and then if not cutting it be the next Holloway - the fact that no new Prem standard players were brought in during the window shows that we lack the belief that we are going up at board level and will necessitate a full rebuild in the summer, something I think NP will struggle with as there is bound to be a belief amongst Prem standard players that we will collapse and go back down - still I'm sure Top and Susan know what they are doing so COYB Presenting pure speculation as fact...

What is so difficult with all of this for people to understand? It's not difficult to understand, nobody has said Pearson himself hasn't improved. Why is it so hard for you to understand that there are also other factors at play? Just as there would have been other factors at play during our poor run. You do know that James and Drinkwater played together last year also and got bullied don't you. Such as losing 1-0 at home to Millwall. You completely disregarding the impact of things like lack of experience of our players last year, and their extra experience this year, and dare claim others are talking tosh?! Absolutely hilarious that people once labeled Pearson bummers are now the ones playing down the fact our sudden brilliance isn't just down to him tweaking a few things.

Whilst others such as yourself thought he did not have the capability of improving on last year. I burst out laughing reading this because we can 100% guarantee that last year you criticised him at some point both for playing 442, and for playing Drinkwater. 'Pearson is doing now what he should have done last season' - Magical thing hindsight isn't it?
Captain... Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 The start of last season was brilliant. From half-time at Charlton until the home game against Palace two months later we played the best football I've seen from a City side until the last couple of months. Completely agree, despite some defeats in that time, we played some brilliant exciting stuff, that and our unbeaten January got me through the poor spell without calling for Pearson's head. It was brought up in the summer and something that seems to be forgotten, but there were strong rumours of dressing room disputes over pay around the time our bad run started. Players upset at the difference in pay between those signed by Sven and those by Pearson. If true, and it is believable, then it would have afftected our morale and had a negative impact on that run. Whilst NP has to take some blame for the losses, we don't know the full facts and don't know what other influences there were. I doubt that NP sent them out to play useless football and aim big hoofs up to Wood, but sometimes off the field problems cause issues on the pitch.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Another thing that amuses me is that no one cares Pearson doesn't have a plan B anymore
MC Prussian Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Another thing that amuses me is that no one cares Pearson doesn't have a plan B anymore Obviously he doesn't. But that was never his adversaries' main gripe in the first place. It was all pure pretense.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Another thing that amuses me is that no one cares Pearson doesn't have a plan B anymore Yeah, is that the fookin rapper loads were banging on about last season Manwell? Where's he gone?

'Pearson is doing now what he should have done last season' - Magical thing hindsight isn't it? The day I saw Drinkwater in the midfield against Sunderland alongside James I told all my mates who did not go to the match how good they were together, especially Drinky. Pearson doing now what he should have done last season has nothing to do with hindsight, it was patently clear to the very dimmest viewer that we were crap whilst only winning 3 of our last 17 games as it was actually happening, because our strikers and wide men were no help to our two central midfield players. Pearson was inept.. I knew it at the time. It was simple. However given the fact that we only won 3 of our last 17 matches I do bow down to your incredible knowledge or clairvoyance in knowing that Pearson would improve so much. Shame you didn't say so at the time.

More than 2'100 visitors - this forum's going bust soon!!!On a sidenote, I think Nigel Pearson should still be given until the end of the season. I'm not so sure about sacking him, still. I think a team and a club need a more stable approach to surviving and growing in the Championship. We've got a more than decent core of players at this club, let's build on that. Hopefully, all the high earners à la Beckford will be off the wage bill. Time to start without any hindering ballast. Plan for and look forward to next season, folks - I already am.
5waller5 Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Another thing that amuses me is that no one cares Pearson doesn't have a plan B anymore Another ridiculous post ..... He has more attacking options on the bench than most teams do in their squad. The plan B, is do plan A with more energy, and as he now has a decent bench that can be done. The guy's football style, tactics and squad have all improved massively .... as has his own ability. I wonder why you don't recognise that??? Just so that you can say I told you so??

5waller5 Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 what a great statement! Keep clutching at them straws this is great value! Just to explain as you will do anything to misunderstand .... Plan A is now very very clear and is implemented each week. When not in possession close down quick all over the pitch, don't let any opposition player have any time at all on the ball. Push high up the pitch and be relentless. When in possession keep it, play it short, make space, move the ball around and be patient, overlapping full backs etc etc.... The tools at his disposal last season meant that this sometimes worked for 10 minutes here and there, but that the squad wasn't deep enough to ever be able to play 90 minutes week in week out playing it. Therefore plan B was necessary. Now, he has the squad and the players beyond the first 6-7 to play this style constantly ..... so plan B is to keep playing plan A but if it's not working with the players on the pitch then change them for players that can step in and make a difference. There are also some different style players on the bench .... KP with his guile and experience, and Was at the other end with his experience and brute force. You keep making out that you were right .... I'll recognise that NP has improved himself and his squad and is doing a fabulous job. Who's the Pearson bummer now??? You guys are too busy saying I told you so than to actually recognise the guys achievements.
5waller5 Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Your not convincing anyone, maybe you need to type with more energy . Some people are too closed minded to read a post and understand what's being said. That's their problem not mine.
Babylon Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 There is clearly something very wrong with my memory. This is not how we played last year, it's not even close. Perhaps we must have bundled our way luckily to 2nd place after two thirds of the season dispatching Derby 4-1, Ipswich 6-0, Huddersfield 7-1, Bristol 4-0, Hull 3-1. We had more peaks in performance last year than we had this year. Just as we had more lows of performance last year than we had this year. That's called consistency, something a new team, with young players, many playing their first full season in this league (and country) can struggle to find.
MC Prussian Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 Some people are too closed minded to read a post and understand what's being said. That's their problem not mine. Well, it's clearly you who has an issue with memory et al. As you just stated a few posts further above.
artursteppe Posted 6 February 2014 Posted 6 February 2014 The last post I started, which was such fun has been deleted. I am now barred from starting new posts. So much for freedom of speech. I never refer to people as cvnts as has happened to me today, but I do enjoy a 'wind up' every now and then. Today has been good fun, but I do object in the strongest possible terms to being blocked.

Shame you didn't say so at the time. Hmm, and how about the other 29 games? Conveniently forgotten about them the same way you and all the other cretins forgot about the first 2 thirds of last season. Did I not? We who support Pearson recognise that the run was terrible but believe you can't blame him 100% for it, and with that in mind, focus on the fact we were well on course to finish top 2 before the run. And so we wish to believe that with lessons learnt we can be the same team we were last season until February, but finish the job this time. Nope, nobody was happy with that run, so change that record because it's a very boring and idiotic one. It's a classic boo-boy response, framing the question in such a way. But I am happy with: A manager who can improve results whilst trimming the squad and wage bill. A manager who has given us one promotion and two play-off finishes (both spoilt by matters out of his control) in his 3 full seasons. A manager that promotes youth, discipline and hard work. A manager that is capable of putting us in contention for the top 2 (For at least two thirds of a season thus far anyway) A manager that gives us more honesty and integrity, and fits in a lot more with how I see our identity as a Club. A manager that doesn't give much away, does business in an efficient and low-key way, and doesn't pander to tinpot local media or provide shallow soundbites and cliches. A manager that is dedicated to our Club, and wants success for it as much as any of us. I have every faith that Nigel will repeat the same trick next season, we will be in the top 2 in February just like we were this season, and this time, with lessons learnt and problem areas addressed, we'll fvcking stay there. Another advantage to not going up this season is now 2014 will be the perfect year of football for us Foxes fans. 130th Anniversary year marked by winning the Championship, a lovely World Cup to occupy the summer, and then a PL campaign after that. Lovely! I could go on...
