hackneyfox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Have you read what you said about other posters and their posts when they were supporting NP. Pot calling the you know what isn't it!! I thought I spent most of my time slating NFP and his tactics rather than having a go at the pro Pearson posters. I certainly posted a few times taking the piss out of those who accused me of being a Pearson hater, I don't know the man. I'm certainly enjoying being a Leicester fan right now as I'm sure are seenitall, bnet and all the members of Bentleys Roof.
indierich06 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Personal Insults = OK Telling people they were wrong = NOT OK Nothing wrong with giving as good as you get. I'm done with this thread now, I've said my piece. You lot enjoy dredging up stuff that happened last season and have a big old wank session about how brilliant you all are for being right. Just as boring and sad as the people you're having a go at.
Babylon Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Nothing wrong with giving as good as you get. Exactly my point. But if you are going to come on here and preach to people about being the bigger man and that people should just forget it, then perhaps that's not the best thread to be dishing out and responding to abuse in. Just a thought. Anyway, you are sound, so I will forgive you.

He's back on my ignore list now anyway, so he'll have to find someone else to bother. I'm sure he won't find that too difficult at all!

artursteppe Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Something for simple minds:- Twelve points from a possible forty eight at the end of last season meant we did not get automatic promotion. We were playing 4-4-2. Pearson was a 'cretin'. Top by ten clear points with nine wins on the bounce, average 2.25 points per game this season. We are playing 4-4-2. Pearson is a 'hero'. Everyone is right!

Everyone is right! Unfortunately, the rubbish about him was going on long before the bad run. It started the minute he arrived for some people, there was no listening to reason, no time willing to be given. We were constantly told the players he had were all great and that anyone could win the league with brilliant players like Beckford, Mills etc. They were "big names", we were told these "non names" like Drinkwater and James would get us nowhere. In fact we were told that Pearson would get us relegated and that anyone who didn't see that was an idiot. We were told he fell out with these great players, he was ripped to shreds again and again by people who knew nothing about the players themselves, or Pearson, or even if there had been a falling out. The benefit of the doubt always went to the player, they never even entertained the thought that the players might be the problem, or that they might not be good enough. It's crap like that people don't forget. Nobody sane ever said he was faultless, but they could see what he was attempting to do, they didn't presume to know more about things than the manager himself. This "I said he was bad when he was bad", "I said he was good when he was good" doesn't wash I'm afraid for a lot of people. Because they weren't just critical, they were below the belt and had their knives out for him. And much of if was make believe to suit there own purpose.
MC Prussian Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 The only significant difference I can see between pro and anti NP brigades is most anti back off when the team is doing well and enjoy the fun whereas when we are dire the pro boys can't shut up about their love - whether this makes them right now or just stupid back then only the Gods can decide but I know what I think The Anti-Pearson brigade is shtum because there's nothing to criticize at the moment. Whether they enjoy us being in 1st position or not, is simply hypothetical. All too often have we had the negative vibes around here even when we won or greeted the rest from the top of the table. Maybe… just maybe they have realized they were wrong all along the way. Of course, that'd take some balls to admit it.

I think in the end, he'll have to turn against himself because there's no one else to fall for his inane ramblings which are still loaded with (hidden) negativism. Maybe it'll act as some form of therapy, who knows?
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 God how dull would life be if everyone refrained from having an opinion for fear of having it dragged up later by the 'told you so' brigade? As I've said a million times before, besides saying the odd thing in passing I do try to avoid these threads, But there's having an opinion that Pearson wont do well, and then there is calling everyone who doesn't agree with you a happy clapping idiot who knows nothing about football. And I'm sorry with the latter you are going to get a reaction like this when the moron who came out with it is proved wrong.

Babylon Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Absolutely spot on.. Hang on, you are agreeing with someone who is saying we shouldn't bleat about being right? Surely you'll have nothing left to post about Col?

Both revel/have revelled in their own self-righteousness.

artursteppe Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Let's just get it right. I am not anti Pearson or pro Pearson. Last season we got 12 point from a last possible 48. 24 points from those last 16 games would have seen us in the Prem now. Pearson was crap during that period. The stats for that period showed us to be the worst team in the Championship. Absolute fact! one third of the season. Now I understand that there are many of you Pearson lovers ( by that I mean unconditional love ) who want to have his babies, but the facts do not lie. He was clueless on how we could get more point during that time. Absolutely clueless. I repeat there was no team who got fewer points than us in the last 16 matches, correction, I have a feeling Bristol City may have been the only one. I was one of those who was fuming at his total ineptitude, and with full justification. This season there is no-one who appreciates the job he is doing right now, more than me!

You paint a rather simplistic picture and make one particular logical, yet fatal mistake in your argumentation. It wasn't just the manager's fault we played so badly, it was also down to the players themselves who let the club and the fans down for weeks. You could also argue the management and the fans weren't proactive and/or supportive enough, either. And in all honesty, there is no "unconditional love" on here for Pearson. However, in addition to the ones who respected him from the start, there's more and more people realizing that he deserves the respect for his willingness to work harder and form an even better team.

All this post is really saying is that anyone who wanted him out at the time was wrong, and everyone who wanted him to stay and go again this season was right. So, predictably, it's not an absolute fact...

seenitall Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 On we go - he has been generally very poor until this season, unable to put anything truly consistent together until this recent run - if that means he has always been great and by losing lots of games I missd his genius then I admit I did but I secretly think he has generally been a bit crap for the past few years and has finally come good - bit like my great Auntie who passed her driving test at the tenth attempt. Was she now a great driver or did she beat the odds?

Was she now a great driver or did she beat the odds? So he's been good this season, right? But when he finished 4 and 5 places lower in 5th and 6th he was 'very poor'? Four places difference and that's the difference between good and very poor is it?

Harry - LCFC Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Top, second and the play off winner go up the rest fail - its a fact I agree with you there, however I don't believe that failing to meet your objective automatically means the manager has performed poorly. Take an extreme case - what if we had missed out by a point last season? That would be poor I take it, it being a failure of course? But if were to have that extra point that would then mean Pearson had done well over the whole season because he had succeeded? As, according to you, the only thing that matters when assessing a manager's competence is whether we succeed or fail. I don't say you're wrong here but ultimately you have to be willing to stand there and say that one point is the difference between an excellent managerial performance and a very poor one.
