Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Really not impressed with our current penalty taker, young prodigy and academy recruit Kevin Phillips. I know he's still learning and has a good future ahead of him but he's missed 100% of his penalties so far and I'm not convinced he's the right man for the job. So with Nugent off the pitch (and the boil some might say) and the lad Phillips with such an atrocious penalty record for Leicester City, who else is going to take them?
MattGamble92 Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 At least we got a rebound. Doubt Mahrez would have tapped it in with Nuge taking it. Not unless our new Algerian wonderkid was sat in the Bridgford lower
gazfox9 Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Love the sarcasm, but it was a damn good save in all fairness. Hit hard and in the corner, hotta give the keeper some credit. STUHILL Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 I thought he hit it well and the keeper gambled right and pulled off an impressive save.
Fox92 Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Probably would have been Konchesky. But Phillips was brave enough to take it, especially in the circumstances. And our determination showed again as James did everything to battle for the ball and put it back across the six yard box.
indierich06 Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Yep, not a bad penalty - heeper just chose the right way and made a great save. Just glad we scored the rebound. I wouldn't be averse to KP taking future pens if Nugent is off the field, but who'd take them if both were off the field? Konch maybe? We could do with more confident pen takers really.
Captain... Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 He hit it in the corner, but it was a good height for the keeper, he wouldn't have got near it had it been along the floor. Good to see 2 players gambling on the rebound, I remember Nugent's miss against Bolton, he'd just stopped after taking it and nobody was following in, always got to gamble.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Phillips, despite his vast experience, didn't look that confident with his relatively short run up. I suspect in time that Vardy will want to take pens.
Babylon Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 I suspect in time that Vardy will want to take pens. Can't see that in a million years Geoffry... he has always stuck me as a bit of a snatcher of shots and not a placer.
blueonyou Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 80% of penalties are luck (assuming the taker strikes it hard and accurate into a corner) Nothing wrong with his penalty, the keeper chose the correct side and that's it. The 20% luck crept in.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Good save as opposed to bad penalty. Just glad James somehow scrambled it to where he did with Mahrez awaiting! As someone else has already said, at least the way he missed it allowed for a rebound unlike Nugent's.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Anyone else see Reid and Phillips after we had scored (you can see it on the video here if not). Completely out of order from Reid and lucky he didn't get punished raising his hands as he did:
Tielemans63 Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Knocky would be a good choice. Cool under pressure.

In his defense I think he heard that penalties don't count at Leicester and attempted to play for the rebound.

I suspect in time that Vardy will want to take pens. What about his short run up for the one against Watford in the play off final? I think that is his style but he got unlucky last night.

Completely out of order from Reid and lucky he didn't get punished raising his hands as he did: What a twat! I think Vardy wanted to take the penalty and was looking around to see if anyone else wanted it, from watching the highlights

Completely out of order from Reid and lucky he didn't get punished raising his hands as he did: lWhat do you expect from Forest? They're utter scum, always cheating and were time wasting so much last night when they were 2-1 up. We deserved the point.

Completely out of order from Reid and lucky he didn't get punished raising his hands as he did: Didn't see it because I was obviously celebrating but there's no need for that at all. Three of them end up on one/Phillips.
Unabomber Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 The way Reid bursts in is as if Phillips has nicked his pasty the fat twat.

Completely out of order from Reid and lucky he didn't get punished raising his hands as he did: if you look at bottom left of the video you see a fan pointing and getting held back by the stewards.. do you think he had spotted someone sleeping with the enemy

I think that is his style but he got unlucky last night. from my angle in brian clough lower it looked like it was almost down the middle but that must of been the angle! fair play to Phillips if it was genuinely a good penalty
JonnyBoy Posted 20 February 2014 Posted 20 February 2014 Didn't see it because I was obviously celebrating but there's no need for that at all. Three of them end up on one/Phillips. ref should have given Reid a red there, worse than Konch's and evidently showing aggression towards Phillips. Where is the consistency

Would have been interesting had Phillips not come on, with Nugent and Konch off who would have took it.. I reckon Wasyl would have fancied it.
