Yeah, I know the feeling. Have plenty of games I have started and never finished or that just require me to sit down with them to get going. But as a family dad with small kids I honestly don't have the hunger anymore and just go for the comfort games.

Ā

That said, I want to go back to games like Dune: Spice Wars (RTS with 4X elements) and Against the Storm both of which are games with scenarios that can be finished in one or two sessions.

I tend to find those kind of games find a sweet spot between slower, long form kind of gameplay (which I prefer) but cut up into digestible chunks.

Yeah i know what you mean.....sometimes just want to stick something on that does not take ages to learn to play. Loved football manafer games back in the day but now to complex for me 🤣

No always open to opinions....just in a meh type mood with video games at the moment....I do enjoy Hell let loose every now and then though.

If U want to try a great puzzler, which is right up there for my Game of the Year is Blue Prince. Absolutely loved that game.

Ā

Or try Power wash simulator. You may laugh but I loved it. So nice to play a game that's slow paced and just relaxing

Granted I haven't played a lot of the GOTY nominees, mainly because most aren't of interest to me but Blue Prince I genuinely found exceptional. There was even more to do when I finally put it down.

Finished the main story on kings come deliverance 2, don’t think I’ve played a game quite like it for a long time. Genuine masterpieceĀ

I loved the first and never actually finished the 2nd.Ā  It was great but things got in the way of gametime and I paused it, good nudge to revisit this one.

Yeah the first great as well, unbelievable for what was a kickstarter game. Think I didn’t get it on release because it was around the time the oblivion remastered dropped, but highly recommend absolutely blasted it the past 2 months or so. It’s the perfect sequel where they’ve refined elements to make it more easier for casuals, while not taking away from the best elements of the first gameĀ

Anyone playing rematch? I just picked it up a few days ago. Gameplay is really good, kind of a cross between rocket league mechanics and FIFA career mode where you play as a single player on the pitch. Only negatives so far are - matchmaking wait times take way longer than it should.Ā

Arc Raiders is great, remarkable how consistently every raid throws up these memorable, cinematic moments. Cool how friendly everyone is as well (in solos at least, I understand team play is much more shoot on sight) though I expect that will change somewhat once we're out of the honeymoon phase and people have better gear.Ā

Not too sure coming from Alan Wake 2 and into Silent Hill 2 was a great idea.Ā  As good as it looks, it plays like it's 20 years old and feels quite dated but has the flashy graphics.

Ā

I'll stick with it but, like many classics, it hasn't aged that well.Ā  RE4 Remake felt fresh, this doesn't.

This was great. Super rare to hear from one of the Houser brothers like this. For probably two of the most influential people in gaming history, they're pretty reclusive.Ā

Ā

I hadn't realised he'd left Rockstar TBF.

Ubisoft apparently in a bit of financial bother. Not a shock given the terrible games they've released lately. Takes some going to make a mess of a studio with AC, Star Wars, Division and Far Cry at your finger tips.Ā

I've stuck with it but Silent Hill 2 Remake is a tough one to sit through for more than an hour at a time.Ā  Very intense, the sound is spooky as hell and it has you on edge the whole time.Ā  Using headphones.Ā  No let up and it's so bleak.Ā  In a good way though, can't put it down.Ā  Constantly running red on health and no ammo.

Ā

Nearing the end of the apartments but need a break 😫

Ā

It's horror done well, very few games since have mastered that - Dead Space is one but there aren't many.Ā  I take back my previous comment, as it's 20 years old and feels old school, it's intentionally very effective at what it does.Ā  I recommend giving it a try.Ā

Spot on. It's just pure incompetence. They had a goldmine of franchises, all they needed was to hire creative devs with vision and they failed big time. Bloated and repetitive games, copy paste year after year. At least they have Anno, the new one is brilliant again and Avatar was good also. Anno though is the flagship right now and they can't afford to ruin it.Ā

I literally paid for a year of Ubisoft+ for Anno 117 and then this news broke.Ā  Classic timing.

Ā

It is fun so far at least.

Halting stock trading is unacceptable. The company must be in a very poor state and every single person working there from top to bottom should be ashamed for prioritising this corporate delusion, agendas and tactics against the consumer. Same applies for some UK companies but I'd rather not say anything because there are a lot of "sensitive" people around.Ā

At least Anno must be saved, I hope a company like Larian steps in and rescues Anno. I don't care about the rest of the franchises, they're long gone.Ā

Im at the hospital, so not much further than yourself. I gave up on Alan Wake 2. Just didnt have any drive to go back to it. Just found it too weird and felt like the game was trying too hard to be creative and different. Silent Hill 2 does exactly what it sets out to do. Eerie game that makes you want to get to the next save point and you go, 'that's enough, ive played an hour and not pissed my pants' haha.

Ā

Its the radio that does me. When you hear it crackle you just go proper defensive. 'Where is it?????'Ā lolĀ

Ā

Im playing it on the easiest setting. I have no desire to have a challenge. Im running around with over 100 ammo for my pistol and about 10 health drinks lol. Though i am barely using my weapons, saving them for boss fights. Just going round smacking shit and then kick them on the ground at least 5 times to make sure they are dead lolĀ

Ā

Ive enjoyed the puzzles, i have that on standard setting and some of them have actually taken me some time to figure out

Having struggled to get back gaming I fired up day z after not playing it for well over a year. Have to say i'd forgotten how enjoyable but brutal this game is. Might have found the game thats gonna relight the passion for gaming again ( time and family first obv)

Never trust a man that doesn’t like Alan Wake 2. 10/10 game.

Arc raiders. Good fun with mates

Has it got much crossover to games like DayZ? I've played many many hours of that but the twitter account was taking about the "shoot on sight" issues that new games like this have. Do I have to play with mates or is it common for random interactions to be cooperative?
