Let us know when you face Simon. Hardest by a long way, I could only defeat him with a one shot build.

Don't even know who Simon is lol. I struggled against Clea, if you do not Parry then she heals over 500k HP each turn. So i need to review my set up to look at doing more damage to offset this, or just parry everything i suppose lol. Its why i have been exploring and doing as many side quests and fights as possible, to upgrade my Pictos. I almost have a fully maxed weapon for all characters, just Monoco to do.

Can you do 1 shot builds before NG+?

Yes you can at level 80. I was doing 50 million + damage in one hit at a lower level than that. I spent ages working out how to maximise damage, had one of the squad auto dying at the start to buff the others (can't remember the pictos) and sciel using her double damage and next turn thing on Maelle. I've uninstalled the game now or I could give more detail, although it's more fun to work it out yourself.

If you've got to Renoir drafts without just making a cheese build then I salute you, spend some time on trying to kill him normally before you try a one shot build. Word of warning though, don't let him get a turn while any of your party are dead (you will see why).

Yea where i saved it was just before going into the Abyss where Simon is. I tried it and he wiped the floor with me. I see now that it will be difficult. Ill have to go against him a few times to work out his Parry timings.

I decided to go further exploring around the world map. Ive got a lot of interesting Pictos so im sure i can now go for a 1 shot build. I have everything for it i think. Especially now i picked up the picto for reducing health to 1hp.

I guess i can reassign my points all to Attack and Speed. No point going for Health and Defence

So ive gone round finishing all other quests, Endless Tower is now finished and the Painting Workshop. So now i am level 88/89. I have maxed out weapons for all characters and pictos are looking strong. So now i only have Clea and Simon to beat. I will go to Clea first. Who i should have no problem beating now i can do so much damage.

Simon i guess will be trial and error. Will have to practice and get the Parries down in order to prep for a 1 shot kill. Then i will go and finish the main story.

That's Robocop done and another platinum run in around 20 hrs.

Recommend the game, tricky at the start but the upgrades by the end make it a blast to play.  The level of gore is true to the films, very enjoyable game.  The gunplay is spot on and it does a great job of replicating the films - the police station, ocp boardroom, the old factory, it's all there.  8/10.

Finally started Clair Obscur.

Really enjoying it thus far but I am pretty terrible at it. Pretty sure signals take far too long to get from my brain to my fingers and parrying becomes controller-throwingly frustrating at times. lol

Just got to the Stone Cliffs and the reaper enemies are total pricks. Couldn't defeat them at all without Maelle's shield-breaking ability.

The game's superb though. Wears its influences on its sleeves for sure and owes a lot to Final Fantasy X especially - not that it's a bad thing. FF lost its way massively when it tried to go open-world. Would love Square to look at the success of Clair Obscur go back to the linearity that made FF7, 8, 9 and 10 so great.

The parrying will come the further you go. Sometimes it just takes some repeat battles to learn each enemies timings.

its great that it takes bits from FF. Like FF9 with the Luminas being the same as FF9 when you select abilities for each character.

I've been crying out for a FF game to go back to turn based fighting. Let's hope they are listening

I think the director of the studio has said his favourite game is FF8 which I have to agree with him on, but for sure this definitely takes a lot from all four of the the Final Fantasy classics: 7-10.

I realised last night that I'd basically neglected the Luminas since the first couple of hours of the game and hadn't added to any of my characters, only the Pictos. lol It's a LOT easier when you do that.

Agree though, they need to go back to basics - haven't been able to get on with any Final Fantasy since 10. Absolutely hated 12 and 13. 15 was boring. Never bothered with the online ones or 16 which basically looks like Devil May Cry lite. Bring back the RPG.

FF8 ❤️

Often overlooked. Triple Triad is the greatest mini-game ever.

It was the perfect game for 12 year old me. I got my mum to buy me a pair of school shoes that matched Squall's then ordered a Griever necklace. And Rinoa Heartilly.

Sad ****.

Triple Triad is the best main series Square title.

I remember growing up and playing FF 7 8 9 and 10. For years i assumed 10 was my favourite, then 7 then 9 and finally 8.

Then recently when i have replayed all of them i remembered just how good FF8 really is. The way the game works with the level scaling and the Junction system is actually incredible. Then you have Triple Triad just to add to what is already a fantastic game.

I genuinely dont think i can give a definitive top 4 list out of those games.

Just take an element of the games, the music. I cant separate them either. (The answer is FF9 though (i think) lol ) The battle music in FF9 hits everytime

Yeah, my friend is mad about survival games, we've played a few now. Had a go at Ark, played a season of Once Human, even did a bit of V Rising.

This is by far my favourite take on the concept. The atmosphere alone is amazing.
