surprised at no mention of death stranding 2. kojima has out kojima'd himself this time

Looks brilliant and whilst currently going through DS1 it is making me look forward to playing DS2 even more

However like @Guest I am not too sure I will be able to do both back to back so will jump onto Fable 2 or a Zelda game after I finish DS1 haha

I never got around to playing them but since they all got thrown on GamePass I've been working my way through them all. Currently half way through The Dark Ages and even on nightmare difficulty, this one is a cakewalk compared to the other two. Think the shield parrying was a misstep and not sure the inclusion of the dragon/mech levels were that much of a positive change! The other two games are fantastic though...

I've just started The Dark Ages. Took me a little while to get used to all the new shield mechanics and how heavy the movement feels compared to the mobility-focused Eternal. I keep wanting to avoid the projectiles when really the game wants you to charge in deflecting and blocking them.

Agree on the giant mech stuff though. Feels like a misstep. It's kind of boring.

Apart from that though, it's great. Just old school fun gaming.

The story is by far the best one of the 3 so guess you have to balance the good with the bad!

I did some of them, used a guide. But even to get platinum was too much for me.

Still really surprised how much I enjoyed the game

Diablo 4, I'm done with this.  Boring as hell.

Lvl 25 just going round and round spamming the same move set over and over again.  Story meh, I've got over 300k gold and haven't spent a penny, the enemies bland, the dungeons meh.  I've had enough.

Cyberpunk is on PS plus now, I'll give that a go instead.

All three modern Doom games are absolute masterpieces of game design and somehow they manage to change it up enough to make each one feel distinctive.

Just finished it! On Nightmare it actually ramps up by the end and the boss fights are miles better than those before...certainly changed my opinion of the game by the end👏

Seems like I’m in the minority, but finding it much harder than the previous two. Dying quite a bit on Nightmare mode.

I hadn't had too much trouble once you get the perfect parries down but on 150% speed on nightmare it got quite challenging by the end. Lots of projectiles coming at ya😅

Finally got into Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

It's a really pretty game, great graphics, wonderful soundtrack, challenging, but fair combat system, intriguing storyline and interesting characters.

However...

I'm neither a fan of the beta male protagonist (he gets a bun as a first optional haircut before setting sails, ffs) nor the boss babe mentality displayed by the female characters.

And it's obviously a rather "French" game – the main quest hasn't even started yet, and they already talk about sex behind closed doors and previous relationships/affairs.

And then there are the Mimes.lol

You can tell there were a lot of women involved in the development.:

42.5 hours into Death Stranding 1 and just had my second scrap with Clifford Unger

Spent a lot of this week just grinding metals and ceramics and building roads everywhere, got the route down to South Knot City done and made good progress on the ones to Mountain Knot City

Just finished playing "Thank Goodness You're Here"

Little Indie British game set in a fictionalised version of Barnsley. Just a daft little game but it won a lot of awards including BAFTAs. I'd highly recommend it if you're in need of a short funny little pick-me-up

Battlefield could be back:

I saw a half hour clip of someone playing multiplayer on YouTube, it’s exactly what you’d hope for, classes, large scale, destructibility. Hopefully some good new maps, no doubt they will roll out the classics but I can’t wait for that, some truly iconic maps amongst them. It will almost certainly launch a buggy mess (has any BF ever not?), but that doesn’t bother me as much as some because DICE are proven to get it together after a few months (still not good enough, though). My one big hope is (other than it be what everyone wants, basically an upgraded BF4) is that they finally fix the net code, the amount of times I’ve dipped behind a wall or ran round a corner but then been shot dead by someone who can’t possibly have a line of sight is just too frustrating, not supporting old gen consoles so hopefully it’s the dogs danglies.

I was in one of the tests a couple of months ago and came away cautiously optimistic, imo it plays like a mixture of BF3/4 and MW2019. In terms of feel and atmosphere it's an enormous improvement on 2042 which definitely comes across in the various leaks. I am however a bit surprised by the rumoured October release because even accounting for it being pre-alpha and potentially quite an old build at that, it seemed a long way off being ready - placeholder assets all over the gaff, loads of features broken, half-finished or just altogether missing. Another bin fire launch would not surprise me in the slightest but the open beta is allegedly happening next month (announcement with the multiplayer reveal next week?) so hopefully we will get some idea of what kind of shape it's in.

I would dearly love it to succeed because done well there's nothing else quite like it.

Such a shame what the franchise has come to.

D1/D2 still rank high among my all time favourites.

Just started Oxygen Not Included. Steep learning curve with lots of trial and error, very reminiscent of Rimworld (I see a new DLC has come out, may need to give it a go), but it's enjoyable so far - and I Imagine it'll be days or weeks before I even reach the endgame.

The one thing I always am hopeful for with these games is that it will be a great game, it’s just that it might not be for 6 months after it’s released. If you look at battlefront 2, what an absolute disaster, and the love it gets now is almost universal. Same with BF4 to a lesser extent, that game was an absolute disaster at release but became a brilliant game… in the end. Hopefully they stick the landing, but when you’re as long in the tooth as me, I don’t mind waiting until it’s patched up and brilliant, it’s about the only studio I will have patience with in this regard, as I know I could potentially enjoy the game for years and years to come.

Cyberpunk 2077.  Just completed Act 1.

The game has crashed on me twice in five hours but, despite that, it's been decent so far.  Downloaded the latest patch but I can't tell much of a difference, game plays very smooth and it looks great.

I want to design a stealth build from here on out so we'll see how that goes.  Chose the corpo route from the off.  The game mechanics, world and story initially was overwhelming at first.  Takes time to get into it but I'll stick at it, it has me hooked now.  lol
