Bert Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Reported England team: #England Starting XI: Hart, Johnson, Smalling, Cahill, Cole, Gerrard, Wilshere, Henderson, Rooney, Sterling, Sturridge. Not impressed with Smalling at centre back and it would've been nice to see Shaw start I guess but I'm always happy to see our best left back start.
Jimothy Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 On current form I'd like so the proof that Cole is out best left back. Cole never plays and is being kept on the bench by a second rate right back. Baines has to be first choice right now.
LeicesterBran Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 I would have started Forster, Lallana, Shaw and Caulker. But, I am hoping England produce a good performance tonight. Prediction England 2-1 Denmark.
AKCJ Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Dansk Boldspil-Union â€@DBUfodbold 8m #ENGDK Danmarks start 11'er: Schmeichel - Jacobsen, Kjær, Agger, Ankersen - Kvist, Sloth, Poulsen - Larsen, Krohn-Dehli, Bendtner G'won Kasper! Tempted to say that Denkark's back 5 isn't much worse than ours.
Langston Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Really like that midfield and front three for us, Henderson deserves his place. Factor in we've got Barkley and Lallana too and it really isn't all doom and gloom in the middle of the park.
Kitchandro Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Yes then Schmeichs. Would love him to save a Rooney penalty. Smalling Just shows playing for Man Utd is worth an automatic England selection.
Munshi Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Smalling? Really? Awful. Really did want Terry to come out of retirement, our Centre backs worry me a lot.
Finnegan Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 If Gerrard, Sterling, Sturridge and Henderson turn up for England like they did against Arsenal, Kasper could get murdered here. You may have an absolutely terrible back four but that's a very credible attacking line with goals in it. Might take some of the pressure to score off Rooney too.
Munshi Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 He really doesn't deserve a place, done nothing for United, and everytime he's played for England he's looked far from at his best. Seeing as Jagielka is injured who else even is there? Much rather have given Caulker a chance.
AKCJ Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Would rather Caulker, Milner and Lallana came in for Smalling, Henderson and Sterling. Prefer us to play with Sturridge and Rooney in the centre. I think Milner and Lallana would give us better balance.
RowlattsFox Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 The only other centre back in squad is caulker, unless I'm missing someone. So smalling was always going to start. Where's Lescott? Not the greatest but should be in the squad. Assume it will be a 433, interesting to see who starts wide, Rooney or Sturridge. Personally would have Rooney as one of the midfield 3 but Henderson gets his chance.

I think Milner and Lallana would give us better balance. Henderson would give that Energy to the midfield, something we lack. As for Sterling, he's been immense for Liverpool and looks like he'd actually run at the defence. The only other centre back in squad is caulker, unless I'm missing someone. I think Milner and Lallana would give us better balance. I don't think you can drop Henderson, of the midfield three tonight he's probably the one who's name I'd have scribbled down first, having a terrific season. Englishman with the highest chance creation rate in the league, get him feeding a frontline that for once actually oozes excitement and we're laughing. I'd be more than happy if that front six started the first game in Brazil. Serious questions about the depth of our defence, though.

You have players on form like Sterling and Henderson and you want ****ing Milner in the side? You don't deserve good players. Seriously. If you can't respect nice things, we'll happily dig up a Welsh granny for them somewhere.
Dan Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 I don't get how Caulker's been called up but Curtis Davies hasn't.
SystonFox Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Henderson is having a brilliant season and deserves to be in. Smalling plays for a terrible Yanited side... Smalling out!!!
TheUltimateWinner Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Going to say this now so I can bump it later. We are so shit.
Langston Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Smalling? Meh! Henderson? Meh! WHAT DOES HENDERSON HAVE TO ****ING DO
Dan Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Henderson's got to start. One of the first names on the teamsheet if his form really is as good as it's supposedly been.

I just think we've forced all of these players into any old formation with the hope that they'll work. Lallana is in better form than either of them and I think that Milner on the right gives us much better stability. I'd rather play 4-4-2 and be organised than this jumbled up formation that either means Sturridge on the wing (our best player at the moment) or Wilshere on the left (out of position). I think we'd be better playing the 'better team' rather than the 'better players'.
