Donut Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Just saw something on twitter, 8 years ago last month Shrewsbury played Bury. In goal for Shrewsbury that day was Joe Hart the Keeper in goal for Bury was Kasper Schmeichel. The 10 in front of Joe Hart resemble Shrewsbury
morris1234 Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Big fan of lallana, great touch, deceptively quick. I don't think Rooney is a bad player, but for me if your going to build a team around a player, it needs to be a player in form, who is assured in a position and not all over the pitch. For me it'd be gerrard all day, despite this drab game he looks different class. As for the comments above I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking this. We don't seem to have players or areas of our game that scare the opposition. It just get the ball wide and put in aimless crosses to minimal England shirts, rinse and repeat. I do worry for our defence. Weakest it's been in years but actually pretty excited about the development of the midfield. As I said lallana is good, wilshere when fully fit is brilliant even Henderson is starting to win me over with his performances for Liverpool of late, just please stop playing strikers out on the left!
Donut Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Got to give credit to Kasper, despite a couple of rushes to the head, hes made some good stops tonight
Kitchandro Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Lallana has stood out noticeably since he came on.
Donut Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Lallana has stood out noticeably since he came on. I think anything is an improvement on Wilshere
Kitchandro Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Got to give credit to Kasper, despite a couple of rushes to the head, hes made some good stops tonight Sums up Kasper that. If he can cut out his lairy antics he's got the talent to be a great keeper. His shot stopping is second to none but he's just got that rashness i.e Blackpool away.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 To be fair to Bale, he's drawn a foul or got a cross in from most of his possession. This is the first time I've watched him and felt he seems to want to do it all himself, though. To be fair, we don't have an attacking midfielder and Robson Kanu is shit so there isn't really anyone near him to offer much. He misses Bellamy, Williams or Ramsey to play off. King plays a pretty deep role for us, Coleman doesn't give him much freedom to roam forward. Allen has the most allowance to drift but that's not really his game. Edit: And that's why he doesn't pass to anyone. Taffy Ronaldo. Yeh I noticed an occasion or two where king released it forward, the ball ended up with Bale and I was expecting kingy to be bursting through into the box. Not that he'd have got the ball anyway.Big shout out to Clive Tyldesley, 'premier league Leicester City'
leicesterisme Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 The sooner Rooney isn't involved in an England side the better, everything has to be setup to accomodate him and he really isn't even that good, well not for England anyway. Sturridge is never going to do anything playing on the wing and having to track back, get him through the middle and we will be a lot more effective.
morris1234 Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Not sure I like us with the 3 midfielders, getting caught out in the wide areas by these does not bode well. Midfield 4 of Townsend, Gerrard, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain for me. Direct, high work rate and quick. EDIT: agree with above about Sturridge.

Not that he'd have got the ball anyway. Big shout out to Clive Tyldesley, 'premier league Leicester City' Yeah King will ping it forward then stay holding. If anyone pushes on it's Joe Allen. Funny to think I'm sure Tosh gave those two their debut at the same time and if anything King possibly shaded him. Nice to see Bale sat there chatting to Harry Wilson.

MC Prussian Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 England just were the better side tonight, they offered more attacking threat and were usually a step quicker than Denmark. There was this real desire to win the game. Kudos to Kasper - came out with a couple of really, really good saves, including a few spectacular ones, and if he was a bit taller, he could've diverted that Sturridge header.
Dan Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Said I wanted a 1-0 win with a quality Schmeichel performance and got both Shit performance but we looked a hell of a lot better without Rooney (shocker) and when Lallana/Shaw came on. I like Sturridge. Always wants to make something happen.
Bert Posted 5 March 2014 Author Posted 5 March 2014 I would like to see Lallana start ahead of Wilshere. Thought Denmark were quite negative considering that it was a friendly. Some nice saves made by Kasper, a few which you'd expect him to make though. A win with a clean sheet is one positive to take and there were a few good individual performances from Sterling, Gerrard and Cahill. Certainly progress from the previous friendlies. Sturridge has grown on me a lot too, was one of his biggest critics before but he's proving a lot of people wrong. Certainly seems to say the right things off the pitch too.
Guest Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Kasper MOTM Sturridge has to be in the middle if he plays. Lallana better than Henderson and Wilshere Wellbeck needs to be in the team. Central defence and keeper are a worry. Gerrard best England player Rooney average.

Corky Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Lallana was great, love the way he shapes to pass/ cross then drags it behind himself and moves away from the defender. Excellent cross for the goal and Sturridge did the right thing going back across Kasper.
morris1234 Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 I do like Cahill but for me smalling isn't good enough. Is Jagielka still injured?
RobHawk Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Didn't watch the game but pleased to hear Kasper played well. Regarding Rooney, the problem is you need to build a team around a player who can drive a team forward and make a difference in the game. Rooney has never done this in an England shirt and it doesn't surprise me that we looked much more promising when he's not on the pitch.
Stadt Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Hoddle is a fantastic pundit and I'd love to see him back in management. He's right about Barkley too, both him and Lallana are genuinely talented and exciting opposed to Wilshere where everybody has been consistently told he's the answer and he's rarely performed well for the national side.
ScouseFox Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Didn't watch it all but glad to see Hodgson realising Liverpool play boss football with boss England players and trying to do the same. Liverpool play Gerrard deep with Hendo and Coutinho in the middle then Sterling, Sturridge and Suarez. Rooney should be able to do something like Suarez's job and Wilshere or Lallana in for Coutinho. World Cup is ours too lose using that system imo
ScouseFox Posted 5 March 2014 Posted 5 March 2014 Also everyone with a brain already knew kasper was the best keeper in the world anyway, calm down
