ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I've been trying to figure out the game where we will mathematically go up and I can't I worked it out to be Brighton at home if we win, but I, not so sure Has anybody worked it out or what game do you think it'll be?
Ashley Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Think someone said Sheffield Wednesday at home but it means something like Derby & QPR getting maximum of 4 PTS from the next 4 games and us winning all of our fixtures?
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 17 March 2014 Author Posted 17 March 2014 I tried to work it out based on all of us winning games until there was a point they couldn't catch us.. Then I lost track
blueonyou Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 isnt it in 17 points time? assuming everyone else wins every game
Tubbymofo Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 We need 17 points so 6 wins which will be Brighton at home
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 17 March 2014 Author Posted 17 March 2014 But it won't be as simple as... So I reckon it'll be QPR at home that does it
blueonyou Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 its super impossible and pointless to predict it until it's about to happen, as us and anyone around us will gain/loose points over the next 10 games.
kingcarr21 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 once everyone has played 36 games assuming they all win then we would be on 83 points with QPR in 3rd on 66 points. This puts us 17 points clear with 10 games to go. Now if QPR and us won every game then it would be when we have 5 games left (15 max points being 17 clear) So if this is right then if we were to beat sheff wed at home on Fri 4th April We would be promoted I think this is right
kingcarr21 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I think we will drop points as will the chasing pack so i reckon the wigan game could be the promotion clincher
Mark Oakley Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 If qpr and derby only get 4 points from next 4 games we only need another 8 points for promotion!! But that's not taking into account Wigan!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Naylor118 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I've got a funny feeling it'll happen at Reading away. And have done for a while!
VinceNoir Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Oooh, I hope it's Sheffield W at home. Friday night, getting smashed all weekend would be good! If we seal it at Reading, we will be promoted while I'm on a 6 hour flight. It'll be the longest flight in the world not knowing the outcome of the match!
kingcarr21 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 If qpr and derby only get 4 points from next 4 games we only need another 8 points for promotion!! But that's not taking into account Wigan!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk im confused If derby got 4 more points that puts them on 67 points after 40 games with 6 games to play If we lost every game upto 40 games we would be on 80 points with 6 games to go. So we would be 13 clear of 3rd with maximum of 18 to play Doesnt that mean 6 more points would do it or am i being stupid?? Ahh edit that is it because QPR have a game in hand over derby so they would have possible 21 to play for which is where you got your 8 points from?? In which case it would be 9 points
Jfox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I think the earliest we could do it is Burnley, assuming all the teams below us pick up a maximum of 1 point between now and then and we win all of ours
Vicki Vixen Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Burnley away Correct answer. If we win the next 3 (Blackburn, Yeovil and Burnley) that puts us on 89, then the following would need to have also happened between now and 29th March to see us promoted that day: Derby drop 5 points in their three games. QPR drop 8 points in their four games. Wigan drop 6 points in their four games. The only downside of this is that our game at Burnley kicks off at 12:15 so we would need to wait until the other games have finished to celebrate promotion, rather than doing it at Turf Moor. Realistically, I think we'll be celebrating promotion at Reading.
Mark Oakley Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 You forget qpr , they have a game in hand so if qpr only get 4 points in next 4 games we need 8 points to equal their maximum haul but we have superior goal difference so equal is as good as a 1 point lead , but don't forget Wigan , they can still get 94 points!! , they won't but mathematically they can!! Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Derby are 17 points behind with 10 games to play, therefore we need 14 points / 30 for them to mathematically be unable to catch us. However if Wigan win both of their games in hand they will go to 64. and QPR will go to 66 if they win theirs. 17 more points and we cant be caught by 3rd.
yorkie1999 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Mathematically we can go up now, if all the teams that are on more than 80-33 points don't win any more games.
Manwell Pablo Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 its super impossible and pointless to predict it until it's about to happen, as us and anyone around us will gain/loose points over the next 10 games. Quite correct. Pointless discussion
