MooseBreath Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Some people need to grow some balls. It's embarrassing how worried they get because we've drawn 2 games. This isn't Man City or Chelsea chasing us down it's bleeding QPR. This isn't the premier league, it's the championship and qpr are third on merit. They are well capable of putting together a tidy run. It doesn't take balls to pretend not to remember the calamity that was our collapse last season, it just takes blinkers. I reckon we'll get promoted but only a fool would say we're already there. This is football we're talking about. A huge part of the reason why the sport still exists and is so popular is because seemingly unlikely things happen all the time.
Happy Fox Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 They need to win 5 games on the spin and us to lose 5 games on the spin both of those situations aren't going to happen we are good as promoted. Chill.
shade Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 ah fvck it, I'm gonna put it out there: we'll smash burnley on saturday.
lancyclaret Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Unless Forest get their act together, I can see QPR winning all their remaining home games - away they have some tricky games. Their luck certainly seems to have changed for the better - an extremely "jammy" late win at Middlesbrough and, by all accounts, were largely outplayed by Wigan on Tuesday. If Ravel Morrison continues to play well, they can certainly push Leicester and, even more so, Burnley to the limit. Before Tuesday, I thought Wigan and Derby had a better chance of auto than QPR but that has changed with both the Latics and the Rams dropping three points.
yorkie1999 Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 The problem is. Saturdays can't come quick enough. (and Tuesdays)
Bryn Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Definitely too early to say there is a slump, but the idea of only winning 1/2 from 10 is not inconceivable. We just need to make sure we back the team and they have to do the rest, if they don't it doesn't matter who it is, someone will catch us. For me I believe we will go up no problems, but I think letting the title slip could be damaging psychologically, so we need to see the job through.

I don't know, I think dropping from 2.21 points per game over the course of the season and an 18 game unbeaten run to getting less than 1ppg over the next 9 is pretty inconceivable, and is certainly not a rational response to drawing two games. Why must you try and create a doom and peril that just isn't there?

In conclusion, you're a dick.

You're acting like is a perfectly normal possibility that we'll slump from 100+ points, title winning form over the past 18 (or even 37) games to bottom of the table form. Talking about it like a perfectly possible scenario rather than an unimaginable nightmare is pretty much trying to spread a bit of doom and gloom.

Just last season we went straight from a run of five wins in a row to a run of one win in 13 matches. Sudden reverses in form are not inconceivable at all, they are a reality, even common.
Bryn Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 No I'm not you ****ing clown, can you read? Jesus, this guy arguing over dictionary definitions and ignoring the bit where I wrote "I think we will go up".

Such massive reverses of form are very much inconceivable - you expect anyone to believe that we could go from losing just 5 in roughly 4/5's of the season to losing the same amount in one month simply because we've drawn a couple? That sort of collapse is pretty unbelievable.

The Doctor Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Football is nothing to do with form, you are only as good as your next game and you can't predict that. Utter tosh - form may be temporary, but it certainly isn't irrelevant. Teams in a good run of form are more likely to be confident and able to go out there and win than a team that have lost a few on the bounce. It may be a cliche, but success certainly does breed success.

The Doctor Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Go on then, who's going to win on Saturday ? It's a tough one to call, could go either way - why?
Fox92 Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 QPR have enough firepower and ability to be top of the league, it's a shame they lack some kind of team work. But they've only got themselves to blame, they've brought player after player since their promotion to the Premier League. Do they concern me? In a way, yes they do. Only because we're top and they're not. People challenge winners; winners become vulnerable, and the rest of the league want to beat us when they play us. Not saying that in an arrogant way, but we're top of the league. It's like when Manchester United come to town, you want to beat them because of who they are. Burnley are on a good run of form. They don't seem to slip up at all. I am nervous ahead of Saturday, more than I was prior to QPR earlier in the season.
Weller in Tights Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Go on then, who's going to win on Saturday ? City are!!! We need to be the 12th man there, all those who have been moaning about wearing the t shirts the club is giving out, get over yourselves. Lets have a sea of blue. For at least one game can we act like Besiktas or Boca fans and chant/sing until we lose our voices, bounce until we pull every muscle in our bodies, just make a wall of noise that tells the team we are there for them.

Look beyond Austin and what they have is a a bunch of has-beens like Zamora and Andy Johnson. Certainly quality wise they should be up there - no team with a midfield containing Hoilett, Kranjcar and Benayoun should be 10/13 points off the pace at this season.

You look down the squad, it's ridiculous.
The Doctor Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Yeah that's what I meant really. You look down the squad, it's ridiculous. Fair enough. I've always thought of firepower as sheer goalscoring ability. Aye, although if they muck up the play-offs you've got to ask how much longer they could sustain that squad. No way are they within FFP limits.

Sudden reverses in form are not inconceivable at all, they are a reality, even common. Don't be a prat. They are not common, certainly not at this stage of the season in a situation similar to this. It is also not going to happen, last season doesn't make a shred of difference. We're not talking about a promotion chasing team collapsing here, we're talking about the best team in the division by quite a way losing to a load of poor sides, and average teams going on runs that have been well beyond them all season. I'm not sure why you take so much pleasure in being the odd one out, it's not clever and it doesn't make you look intelligent.
Filbert_Ross Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 Seems like there is so many ambulance chasers about after two draws, I think it shows a fair reflection of out support in general. I'll see you in the Prem next season.
