Banks Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Thought I'd create a topic as no-one has really suggested this. Was has been brilliant recently but some of you may have forgotten that he is 34/35, will he be able to play three games in the space of a week? Many of us could see a lot of the players were exhausted at the full time whistle on Tuesday. Moore is fit and personally I feel he's more solid than Was. Just wanted to know what people think.
Captain... Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 CB is not the most demanding of positions, plenty carry on to play well into their thirties, I could see Moore in for RDL, as a tactical change, but I doubt NP would change the centre back pairing for this game.
Jimmy Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Moore for Wes if we're dropping a cb he's looked the warmer of the 2 for me alongside either Liam or Was
kingcarr21 Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Also if memory serves me right Was didnt play the 90 mins vs yeovil. Did he not come off for Dyer????

dsr-burnley Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 One thing that Burnley don't have a problem with, is fitness of players. No-one's tired at Turf Moor (and Michael Duff is 36). Do you think that's a genuine advantage for Burnley, that Burnley really are fitter, or is it just rumour and fan nervousness because of the two draws?

If there was genuine tiredness within the team Pearson/shakespeare would of noticed in training and made changes. They know in order to (have the best chance) beat any team in this league or any league you need 11 fully fit players. Even on an unbeaten run they will change the team if required. Im sure they would recognise if players performances had dropped due to tiredness.
dsr-burnley Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I thought it must be. After all, no doubt you've got the heart monitors and everything.
foxfanazer Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Pearson is big on sports science so there's no chance he's playing players that aren't fully fit imo
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 It's a habit of some of our fans that when we don't win then there must be different reason rather than having an off day. Anything from tiredness to bust ups with team mates or NP
qwerty123 Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Pearson is big on sports science so there's no chance he's playing players that aren't fully fit imo Couldn't be further from the truth As professionals all players have and will have to play when they are nursing injuries or when they are not 100% fit
XLM Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Dear god in the two draws, one of our players missed an open goal, and in the other one we missed about 5 absolute sitters! If we'd buried those there'd be none of this talk about fitness. Nigel and his team will know the player's limits. We have players bombing forward right up until the final whistle, which to me, implies that they're more than fit enough to cope.
Callabinho Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 No way, splitting the partnership up with Vokes to play against? that will play into Burnley's hands. Liam's time will come but for now keep it as it is!
lgfualol Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Dyer is 31 and played multiple games in a row running up and down the wing at gazelle speeds. I think Was will be okay.

Im sure they would recognise if players performances had dropped due to tiredness. But "fatigue" doesn't necessarily mean physically tired, mental fatigue is very real, and the expectation and pressure on what is still a young squad will have its effects. Burnley don't really have the same sort of pressure, they know that they have had a good season and the fans wouldn't get on their backs if they fell away and finished 3rd now. Whereas our players know what will happen if they do. Added to that what happened last season. The fatigue that people talk about doesn't just manifest itself in physical tiredness, it's a long tough season and we are at the top to be shot at.
Lionator Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Was is a tank. I bet he's fitter than most of the other players in the squad even at 34.

I was probably a bit vague in my post but when i say 'tiredness' im talking about physically and mentally. I would like to think that being an ex footballer pearson would be able to identify if a player is not just physically tired but also mentally by way of him noticing if the player was buckling under the pressure and may need some rest away from the spotlight. Unless im expecting a bit too much from Pearson as i guess a player can hide any mental frailties easier than physical ones.
iancognito Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Keep it as it is for Burnley but if RDL doesn't pull his finger out he can sit on the bench for a few games and let Liam go in at right back for a bit. He's been asleep for the last 3 games and needs a boot in the arse.
Bettsj2 Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I would change a couple. Moore in for Was and Dyer for Mahrez.
cjslcfc Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I remember Nige saying when Was first came that he is a very fit and athletic individual. I'm sure he will be fine

kingcarr21 Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I would change a couple. Moore in for Was and Dyer for Mahrez. i think this game is perfect for Dyer to come off the bench against a tiring side especially if a 50% match fit trippier plays. Although saying that Starting Dyer against Trippier would not be a bad idea either.

Silverdaz Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I would play Dyer instead of Knockaert not Mahrez, Knockaert not really done much the last few games
bovril Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I would play Dyer instead of Knockaert not Mahrez, Knockaert not really done much the last few games He helped get us a point on Tuesday.
