Jon the Hat Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Breaking news on the BBC banner: Archbishop of Canterbury tells BBC the Church will not longer oppose Gay Marriage in England and Wales. I make that 1hour and 45 minutes before it become legal. Does anyone care?? Hilarious.
ADK Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 You have to kill people to make your religion relevant these days.
Mark_w Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Sorry about that guys, we're hearing God's had a change of heart.
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 Yet another victory for abnormal freaks... Quite right. The backwards religious establishment has moved more in line with modern society. Well done, them. Not sure how believing in fairy tales makes you a freak though...
Mark_w Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I wonder if this works retroactively? Is Oscar Wilde going to be shipped up to heaven?
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I wonder if this works retroactively? Is Oscar Wilde going to be shipped up to heaven? Don't be ridiculous, Mark. God's decision is final. Except when it isn't.
Rincewind Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I wonder if this works retroactively? Is Oscar Wilde going to be shipped up to heaven? What about the other way? Jimmy Saville to Hell? But if god is all knowing the decision would have been made.
Mark_w Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 What about the other way? Jimmy Saville to Hell? But if god is all knowing the decision would have been made. True, but God's got a lot on his plate. He can't be expected to make snap decisions about whether gay people or paedophiles are worse. He's too busy telling people to sacrifice their children.
One Legged Beaver Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 I guess that means no more floods due to gay marriage
ozleicester Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 and news from Australia... our fvckwit Tory governemnt hasthis week reintroduced Knighthoods and Dames... and still refuse to legalise equal marriage. how embarrassing
absolutelegend Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 I personally believe that it should be up to the church, not the government to decide who they will let marry. They should be able to offer a legal equivilent though if they wish - ie a civil partnership.

They should be able to offer a legal equivilent though if they wish - ie a civil partnership. Marriage is not an institution owned by the church, its a legal definition and should be open so that any adults are able to choose who they want to marry. The church has no right to comment on legal matters.
absolutelegend Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 agree. guess i wasn't very clear in my point (to be honest I've not given it much thought). I think that the marriage/partnership of two people of whatever sex should have the same legal recognition. However, I don't believe that church should have to change their view though of what a marriage is to them though - i.e. a man and a woman. If people don't like the churches standpoint, just go somewhere else - clearly their religion isn't for you. I'm waffling.
Rincewind Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Were Adam and Eve married? (assuming the fairy tale is true)
Buce Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Yet another victory for abnormal freaks... Care to expand on that?
Strokes Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Were Adam and Eve married? (assuming the fairy tale is true)You mean adam and steve?
Out Foxed Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Yet another victory for abnormal freaks.. putting abnormal before the word freaks makes one of them redundant
Mark_w Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 You have to kill people to make your religion relevant these days. What do you mean 'these days', hasn't that always been the case?

Guest MattP Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Waiting for the council of the mosques to deliver a similar statement. But of course, we only attack Christianity for it's marriage stance.

Happily take the piss out of Islam as well. It's not the same as taking the piss out of all Christians and Muslims which is what most people have a problem with..
BoneDog Posted 29 March 2014 Posted 29 March 2014 Does this mean that we're going to see an end to all those 'look at us, we're persecuted' gay pride marches where they all go down town on a sunny afternoon wearing fishnets and hotpants with sunglasses, beards and a king-size Embassy No.1 hanging out of their mouths to make a point? I f*&king hope so! I had to counsel one of my nephews after he'd been out shopping for Lego one Saturday afternoon and the LBTQB lot had strode past on their high horse. They'd frightened him more than the time I was babysitting and I'd let him watch Poltergeist on dvd.
