VLC86 Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Who knows how he got an England cap. If I remember rightly it was because Nigeria were sniffing around him so Roy took a punt on the basis that he has the potential to be a good player. I said at the time he wasn't even the best player at Palace last year and was never worth £15 mil. Bolasie was better
Nick Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Pearson could turn Wilfred around methinks - he's a class player with potential that didn't cope with the move for probably lot's of reasons. Needs to prove himself again in a new setting - bring him off the bench until he earns his place. Sign him up.

Ferguson did make some good signings at Old Trafford, but he also made some shockers!
Silverdaz Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Well Zaha was the bester player in the League when Palace got promoted

foxfanazer Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Well Zaha was the bester player in the League when Palace got promotedAnd Will Hughes was the best young player this season
Merchant_Banker Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Surely Zaha is not a Pearson type signing, expensive, questionable attitude, not obviously hard-working.
Rocky Dennis Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Depends where his head is at right now. Is he still that hungry player with potential for greatness, or does he believe the hype and 'disappeared'? If it's the former he'll be a very good asset, a loan deal perhaps the best for all concerned but imo QPR will sign if they go up!
Brainy Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 And Will Hughes was the best young player this season With Dyche the best manager
WhispyWizard Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Quite similar to Gradel and Pearson wasn't a big fan of him.
crisp packet Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Surely Zaha is not a Pearson type signing, expensive, questionable attitude, not obviously hard-working.Questionable attitude???? Really ?
Bettsj2 Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Quite similar to Gradel and Pearson wasn't a big fan of him. Didnt Pearson say he wanted Gradel to stay but the player chose to leave?
Merchant_Banker Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Questionable attitude???? Really ? May just be gossip I read on here, but I thought I read that he wasn't putting in the effort in training. Please feel free to correct me.
cairnsy Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 I think a lot of clubs wont touch him due to the fact that united paid £15m for him so his price is seriously inflated. He should have gone for about 1/3 of that price but i guess thats what happens when you have "young english talent" floating around his head. Depending on the price but i think he'd be a great acquisition personally, especially with dyer all but gone. We would have 3 wingers with serious quality
Dan Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Well Zaha was the bester player in the League when Palace got promoted Not even the best winger at Palace that year. That said I think it'd be harsh to write him off based on what happened at Cardiff. It clearly didn't work out but Cardiff are a complete mess of a club. He wouldn't get that here. I think we can, and already have (Mahrez) done better though.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 Mahrez and Zaha on each wing. Don't you dare drop Tony K for him.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 May 2014 Posted 21 May 2014 I believe the reality of the Zaha situation is this.. you get him playing in a certain way at a club where he is made to feel a big part of things and you could have a tremendous player on your hands. He's quick, he's skillful and tricky and can beat a defender and deliver a final ball. However, I suggest he probably needs loving. I see no reason why Pearson could not bring a player who is clearly talented to the club and get the best out of him. Not on a loan deal though.. that would send out the wrong message. But as a permanent signing to a club who will play him and make it clear he's wanted.

Totally agree with you there col, Zaharias has all the attributes to make him a top player but for whatever reason, he's not progressing as quickly as people expected. A loving arm round him from uncle nige and I think the world would see the best of him... Here's hoping!

Happens to a lot of young talent They just need a good manager, that goes beyond someone who knows how to pick a team & system, but can actually man-manage them as an individual A good manager improves players, Pearson is such a manager... Schmeichel, Drinkwater, Vardy, James, Knockaert, Mahrez etc & etc & etc are testament to that. Zaha kinda reminds me of Sturridge. He's at as crossroads now & he'll either get a good manager who will help him knuckle down and get the best out of him or he'll float from club-to-club with the £15m price tag weighing him down.

Spot on. Lots of young players do reach that crossroads and which way they go can literally often be luck of the draw. Zaha is (another) prime example of a player who's development has been stunted in the quest for the yankee dollar. I genuinely often wonder where these lads heads are? Many of them have more money than they could ever spend (imagine being financially sorted by the age of 24), yet effectively give up playing the game they love for wanting more money.
