MC Prussian Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 What a crazy post. Talk about covering your own arris with the clearly edited 'disclaimer'.. It's not like that's something new to you, Col. You do it virtually every single time you post. P.S.: I'd still give Zaha the benefit of the doubt. After all, he's only 21 years young.

And I'm glad you'd give Zaha the benefit of the doubt, I'm sure he'd appreciate that. Seriously though, I'd love to see Zaha down at City. Anyone who says they wouldn't really ought to go down more (even yourself MC?)
Dan Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 The media actually control the pricing these days, if a player flies under the radar you'll still manage to pick them up cheap, Cabaye, Michu being prime examples. Soon as a "name" is being banded around in the papers and teams like Chelsea, Barca, Liverpool, Real etc are being linked with it it's not an exaggeration to see a player probably worth £3-4 million in actual football terms go for £15million. Fortunately I think we have a manager and scouting team that can see through it. This is the Premier League as well, we are talking about boardrooms with people like Vincent Tan in sanctioning 7million for average Danish strikers, clubs like Newcastle that appoint people like Joe Kinnear as Director of Football, it's a mad industry. On the other side you can actually end up picking up bargains for the ones who have been slaughtered by the press, Cleverly will be a solid top half Prem player for years and someone will probably pick him up cheaper next season than Man U paid for Zaha. Hull got Huddlestone on the cheap after he was considered "not good enough" and finished. Adam Johnson would be a player I'd like, be avaliable cheap and I'm sure he could thrive in a team like ours. You raise very good points. Totally agree with every word. It must be great in the media mustn't it? Make up any shit about anyone and you'll still find some people who side with you. You literally cannot lose once you hit a certain level. Zaha has got something about him, but he was never ever worth £15mil. I agree with the poster who said that Leicester would be a better fit for him than Cardiff as he wouldn't have been drafted in as a late loan signing. But I don't know... if we can land a player of Mahrez' ability for under half a million, can you imagine what sort of player we could be going for now with this money? I've got a feeling we're going to unearth a couple of diamonds this summer.

My brainwaves are my special kind of support. You should try it from a distance, Col. It's great and it takes much more effort than simply paying your dough at the gate and putting your behind in that comfy seat at the KP. Also, it saves you some money when needed. Besides, maybe you'll finally start to appreciate what it means not being so privileged as you are, Colin - not everyone can afford a new ST plus travel on a regular basis. But that would be asking a little bit too much of you.
Nick Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 Would prefer we got Powell from United ahead of Zaha. I agree - though like you mentioned previously Bert - Whilst they might accept an offer for Zaha - Powell, is very unlikely to be for sale, so we'd be looking at a loan I suppose.

If Steve Walsh can get unearth the next Drogba ( well he did scout Drogba when he was head scout of Chelsea) we are laughing our way to prem survival.
shen Posted 13 April 2014 Posted 13 April 2014 If Steve Walsh can get unearth the next Drogba ( well he did scout Drogba when he was head scout of Chelsea) we are laughing our way to prem survival. Drogba was not exactly an unknown before he came to Chelsea. He won the French player of the year and scored a buttload of goals in the CL and UEFA cup. That's like saying Arsenal 'unearthed' Giroud when they bought him from Montpellier...
conLAD logan Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 People also forget he hasn't always been a winger, he's played upfront before aswell, so he could be quite useful as he could play upfront/on the wings/or behind a striker
Number 6 Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 I do like Zaha but realistically he hasn't done himself any favours this season. Flip side to that is that he'd have something to prove next year. I do believe that he is a Premier League quality player but Utd would have to make a significant loss for this to be a goer.

There's always the chance of him coming here on loan.
Number 6 Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 There's always the chance of him coming here on loan. True. I guess that would make it a smaller gamble. Think it also lessens the benefit for us though as I'd rather we give our own players game time.
suffolk fox Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Some people being a little harsh on Zaha. Even at Cardiff he doesn't start for them but regularly comes on from the bench. He is still young I would rather we sign him as he has potential and can score goals at the top level. Would be a great signing if true.

I remember the first time I saw Drogba play was for Marseille against Chelsea In the champions league. To say he destroyed them single handedly would be an understatement.

If we could get Zaha here, and firing, he'd be a lovely player to watch. His biggest asset is pace. We'll need pace in the Prem.
Sankey93 Posted 14 April 2014 Posted 14 April 2014 Zaha would be perfect for us next season in the prem! I love Knocky but will offer a lot more than him.

We'll need pace in the Prem. We also need players that are clinical in front of the goal. Pace alone won't get you anywhere in the Premier League. Zaha ticks some boxes, but he's far from being the finished article and with all the praise he's received in the past few months and years, he's got to improve.

iamafox Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 I suggested we needed a right footed winger and Zaha fits that category perfectly. If he's available on loan, get him in.
Out Foxed Posted 15 April 2014 Posted 15 April 2014 with regard to his attitude. ole did say he was one of the few people doing extra work (shooting practice) after training. for what it's worth.
dannythefox Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 At this moment in time I'd prefer Marez to Zaha I think Marez will be one of the few that can cut it in the premier league.
Jace Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 I would like to see a 5 midfield of Mahrez, Zaha, Knockaert, Drinkwater and James
Jake SH Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 Zaha is surely down Man United Pecking order, especially when there looking at players like Reus, Kroos etc. I feel sorry for Zaha in my opinion he really hasn't been able to show what he can do consistently with bit part performences. There For the taking
LCFC FOX Posted 16 April 2014 Posted 16 April 2014 I'd take him if he was available for cheap, He's only going to improve. Can see Moyes selling him too. Knockaert and Mahrez are going to be better in the premier league. They will be allowed to play

If he doesn't get regularly in a Cardiff side trying to fight relegation why would you want him n a Leicester side who will, first and foremost, be fighting relegation? He did very little in the Championship to deserve his huge price-tag - a few moment here and there a £15m man they do not make and he goes missing too often. I'd be very worried if we went in for Zaha.
