foxfanazer Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 No better than what we have but wouldn't be too disappointed
Guest Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 I'd pay 6/7m for him. makes me laugh the amount of people saying he's untested - maybe in prem but used to english football and has scored consistently in a crap team over a number of seasons. not just their top scorer but also their best all round player. to think so many were cracking one off to the idea of vietto who really is untested!
ibbosuk Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 There have been plenty of them also that flopped, what we need is a goalscorer. It doesn't matter what league they come from . Of course it matters, Sam Baldock's a goalscorer 24 goals this season, would not get 5 in a season in the premiership, Listen up, we need a players of proven quality who have done there jobs in "Big Leagues". That. or a younger player/s who is truly exceptional. This goes for ALL the players we will sign, not just a goalscorer. If Pearson sticks to that we will be o.k....If he doesn't he's stupid.

ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 ten million pounds?! they need to give their heads a wobble the muppets

Just like Vardy, he wasn't proven even in league football, look how rubbish he turned out. In other news, your opinion stinks.
LCCFox96 Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 To score nearly 30 goals in that absolute toilet of a Leeds side tells me he's proven goal scorer. Never mind his successes in previous seasons. But as for £10mil. No thanks. I'd have him at Leicester but £3-4mil absolute tops.
Tuna Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Not good enough for the premiership and 10 million is a fooking joke!
CKB Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Not good enough for the premiership and 10 million is a fooking joke! Well we don't know if he's good enough do we? but yes i agree 10 mil is a joke...

No, you don't seem to understand. It doesn't matter what league they come from, what matters is they are good enough. Players can make the step up, it's about choosing the right ones that can. To simply rule out every player in a certain league people YOU don't think that league is good enough is idiotic. I find it amazing that people still have this point of view that it needs to be a "proven" big name, from some big league. When our team that just walked the championship was essentially the polar opposite of that.
LCFC FOX Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 I see he's one of Forests top 5 targets for a new striker
Guest Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 6/7 million for McCormack would be madness. 2/3 million tops. We bid more than that in the Jan window The problem is we could maybe move for £4-5m if we were a Championship club but nobody sells to the Premier League cheap any more. That's what the extra £2m is effectively for. Unless we can find a Mahrez style gem who plays up front then we either look at low end Prem or top end Champ strikers or untested foreigners. It can work - Mahrez was an untested foreigner and looks more than enough for the Prem - but how many of them are we likely to unearth without getting failures? Even Ricky Van Wolfwinkel who a couple of years ago was considered to be one of Europe's top striking prospects has shown that scoring a few abroad ain't the same as scoring them in England. Jesus, even Shevchenko failed over here and he was one of Europe's best EVER strikers. The Championship is also at a higher level that 80% of other top divisions. It's often cited as Europes 4th or 5th best league.
foxfanazer Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 There's absolutely no chance Pearson would spend £5m + on this guy. No better than Vardy or Nuge imo
The Doctor Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 We don't need to buy untried untested player from the championship, who has never played in the premiership, you choose three players that have come off, there are plenty more that haven't. A Good quality European player with international experience playing in one of the top leagues, is what I am looking for (and expecting). Lets not blow it. Yep, because championship players have never cut it (Lambert, Rodriguez etc. never existed) and every big name european striker has been top notch, not like we've seen 80 goals in 3 seasons from a striker who then came over here and flopped (Matija Kezman), or a striker with a better than 1 in 2 ratio (175 in 296) come over and average about 1 every 8 games (Shevchenko), or seen a hotshot and top scorer one season move over here and score 1 in a season (Van Wolfswinkel)...

the_enlightened_one Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Hope we don't sign him, Vardy is better in my opinion and 10 million is absolutely ludicrous. Pearson could find an unknown worldy for half of that.
dayday Posted 11 May 2014 Posted 11 May 2014 Yeah but Jermaine Beckford scored goals in the prem ,but was useless at championship level
