Hypothetical Question about success:

Which would you prefer?

  1. 1. So...

    • Leicester City, playing in Blue - relegated.
      136
    • Foxes United, playing in Red - top 6 and FA Cup winners
      18

So with all the furore over Cardiff last year and Hull City (Tigers) this year and us in a similar position (i.e. mega rich owner).

What would the City fans prefer:

Would you be happier being relegated after one or two seasons in the Premiership (always scrapping), but retaining our name and traditional blue and white.

Or;

Could you sell your footballing soul and accept us turning into 'Foxes United' and playing in a lovely red kit, with the knowledge we'd be in the top six of the Premiership after 3 years AND have won the FA Cup?

This is purely hypothetical, I know (hope) Vichai and Top won't take this route.... but what if?

No, just no.

If you delete this now we'll pretend it didn't happen.

Obviously not, it wouldn't be our football club that would be winning trophies it'd be Vichai's, not that it'd happen anyway.

No offence, but I find these hypothetical questions ridiculous.

Lots taken..... :(

Devil's Advocate:

Seriously though, it's just names and colours... logically speaking. Every club has had a succession of different kit colours and even names. Would you really deny Leicester City  Foxes Utd. their first FA Cup ... EVER!?!?

Don't see the value in these. When are we ever going to have to trade off our kit for that kind of success?

The clue was in the word 'Hypothetical'!

But it's not beyond the realms of possibility, I even cited examples... with out Tan at Cardiff or Kasam at Hull would they have their current success? I'm sure any owner could have a 'toys out of the pram' moment?

Yeah, success in abundance there.

Hmmm, personally I think hypothetical scenarios are only useful if they're realistic and this one isn't IMO.

Tbh I'm probably just being difficult really. It's an innocent enough question I suppose.

Cardiff have just finished bottom and Hull 5th bottom. They've had an easy cup run to thee final and have finished 4th bottom before.

Not exactly massive success.

No offence but this is a shite thread that has been done before too many times.

So much offence...

And if you're Cardiff or Hull any Premiership action is pretty damn impressive TBF!

Well Hull have been there before and Cardiff had been very close for about 5 seasons before they went up.

I don't think their owners have done an awful lot for them.

Not really hypothetical but would you rather have a forum where people can talk about whatever Blue matters they like, of whatever import?

Or would you prefer one where people see Red if a thread is not quite their cup of hemlock, and call for its expungement?

Shall we vote?

If those things were to happen, we wouldn't be us anymore. To me I'd have as much interest in Norwich as I do Foxes United

I vote blue.

No offence but if anyone has done 14,000+ posts on here then they should probably just ignore threads which have been done before rather than taking the time and effort to express their lack of interest.

There's the crux of the matter. .. What makes us 'us'?

What do we follow, what is our club?

Surely we dont just follow a name (that's already been changed in our history)?

A shirt colour. .. changed numerous times in our existence!

A badge? Changed at least twice.

A home? Moved at least twice.

Players/managers - All transient!

If it were Foxes United in red it would be the same as just changing the team you support. In which case, I'd probably just go and support Notts County instead.

The difference with "Foxes United" tho would be that it would be taking away the football club of the people of Leicester, and replacing it with a marketing tool targetted at the people of Thailand (or Malaysia as has happened to Cardiff).

I have more in common with Nottingham folk than the Thailanders, so would feel a greater affinity with Notts than Foxes United.

Listen - Leicester City are called Leicester City. They play in the city of Leicester and play in blue. Their badge has always featured a fox and always should do. They come out to the Post Horn Gallop and their club anthem is When You're Smiling. They hate Nottingham Forest, Derby County and to a lesser extent Coventry City. Steve Walsh and Gordon Banks are their heroes, and Dennis Wise is considered an evil little cvnt.

Regardless of little things that have changed and things that changed 100 years ago, the above things are what make us us, and they should not change. They are all parts of our identity. Not one of those things alone make us the club I support, but each of those things are crucial to being who we are. Woe betide anyone who tries to take any of those things from us, they will not be welcome.
