Leicester City relegated or Leicester City gone and replaced by some shite based in Leicester?

No brainer.

We have changed, our name, our ground, our colours many many times.

We have virtually no players or management with a true relationship to the city (or even shire). in fact excluding where we play and the name.. what is the link?

I like being Leicester city, but if (as could so EASILY have happened a few years ago) we were to fold, go broke etc. and then from the ashes rose a new club that was my homes representative team. Im pretty sure i could jump on the Foxes Utd bandwagon.

There's the crux of the matter. .. What makes us 'us'?

What do we follow, what is our club?

Surely we dont just follow a name (that's already been changed in our history)?

A shirt colour. .. changed numerous times in our existence!

A badge? Changed at least twice.

A home? Moved at least twice.

Players/managers - All transient!

The crux of the matter is in the phrase "our club"!

As long as overall we preserve a sense that our allegiance is recognised and valued, we still feel it is our club. And we will accept moving from Filbo to the Walkers to the King Power. As soon as someone shows that they don't care about our allegiance by changing some of our core symbols, then it won't be "our club". For me those core symbols are: City (name and location), blue and fox.

As soon as we become Leicester United Soccer Team (LUST), replacing Filbert with Pisspoor the Panda and playing in Black & White, then I' m off.

So weren't we Leicester City in '72/3 when we played in white for a season.

As a City fan we ALL know 'our' highest league Finish ever was 2nd in 1928/29. Incidently back then we had no fox badge, no post horn gallop and played at Filbert st. And was nearly 90 years ago. Still our achievement?

If you think we arn't being used as a marketing tool already then you're very naive, you only have to look at the fact the ground bears the name King Power, the colours are incorporated into our current shirts and we have a King Power banner around the ground (which I don't like, I'd prefer our legends up there)... But changing the name, especially to 'Foxes United', is something I don't agree with at all.

Success comes in all forms at all levels in football. While I wouldn't like to see us in the third tier ever again, I'd much prefer us to be battling for the second tier title as Leicester City than being a manufactured 'Foxes United' winning everything in the top flight.

These polls and topics crop up a lot and there's only going to be one winner, ever. While I do think the owners are using us a marketing tool, I also don't think they'd ever do anything as drastic as change the club's name. I think they respect the culture, history and fanbase a lot more than those owners at Cardiff and Hull... We've achieved top flight football now, and I suppose that edges King Power one step closer to becoming a well known brand in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if very soon we start seeing King Power in our major airports, Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham...

It all depends why and what for, I have no problem with changing things, we still include Fosse as part of our history and they didn't play in Blue.

If the premier league got taken over by American owners who demanded every club had a unique name and Unique colour scheme, and we ended up as Leicester Foxes and we started playing in Gold, Blue being taken by Chelsea and white by Everton, would people stop supporting us?

If Top and co changed things like the name of the club or the colours, just to appeal to the Asian Market I wouldn't support it, as they are not our fan base, but as I have said before we are not defined by colour or name, we are defined by the collective appeal and shared enjoyment of everything connected to the club.

Edit: I voted for Blue, as I would prefer it, and I don't believe any change in colour would have any bearing on our success on the field, unless you believe, as some do, that red is more visible so give a competitive advantage, but I doubt that would be the difference between relegation and top 6 + FA Cup. Unless the situation is like Hull's and the owners blackmail the club because we don't change our name and colours, withdraw financial backing in protest and that is why we get relegated, but I would still prefer not to bow to demands of meglomaniacal owners like Tan and Allam, and maintain our identity even if it costs us our place in the prem.

Yes True. Apart from the bit about me being “very naïveâ€.

We have been a marketing tool since we started putting sponsorship on shirts. As has every other club. I guess each individual has their own “line in the sand†beyond which, they stop caring about the club, and just follow the results out of a vague interest, rather than a passion.

Some Manchester United fans broke away from what they saw as rampant commercialisation of their local club, and formed a separate non-league team called “United of Manchesterâ€.  Wimbledon fans chose to drop several leagues rather than accept that their team was now located in Milton Keynes. Now they are just one division below MK Dons.

I am certain that some of our fans care enough about Leicester City in blue to attempt to do the same thing.

So. I guess a more interesting question is: If some fans rejected “Foxes United†and chose to re-create “Leicester City†playing in blue, in the Ryman League division 2… which team would you follow?

I’d be following Leicester City in the Ryman League rather than Foxes United in the Champions League.

My only fixed line in the sand is moving, like Wimbledon did, that was a disgrace, anything else can be forgiven, doesn't mean anything else will be, but I identify with the club, not the name nor the colour, but the history and what it represents.

Thank you, you two... these were the kind of discussions I envisaged with this question... not a point blank NO, but what people fell would stop their club being their club!?

The past is the past. The question was how far we would accept changes now. I've answered that.

The issue isn't the change in colour per se, it's the fact that it'd be instigated by a big shot owner who thinks it's his right to change a 100 or so year tradition if Leicester city in blue.

We are Leicester City or Leicester Fosse, always have been and always should be. Yes, we might move ground (200 yards away, still in the same postcode, still with the same colour seats and mentions about our past), but we should always have Leicester in our name.

Finishing sixth and winning one FA Cup is not enough to warrant an identity change of the worst kind. Foxes United? How crap does that sound? Yeah, we might win a trophy once, then what? The club will probably always go up and down, have periods of being stable, periods of turbulence, some success, some failure.

Winning a cup with a crap, gimmicky name in a colour that has had little connection to the club in the last 130 years (couple of away shirts isn't it?) wouldn't feel right at all.

We haven't sold our soul as much as Cardiff did, but I think people forget that our current success has still relied upon a certain degree of commercialisation.

Since taking over control of the club, our owners have:

1. Changed our shirt sponsors to their company

2. Re-named our ground after their company (albeit from another commercial deal)

3. Plastered the name of their company everywhere both inside and outside the ground

4. Started flying the Thai flag outside the ground, like we are the spoils of some imperial conquest

Let's face it, the owners are only really interested in us as a vehicle to promote their business interests in Thailand, using the strong brand power of the Premier League. They don't have the same kind of relationship with the club as we do, and never will. Nothing wrong with that per se, but it should be borne in mind.
