Cat Burger Posted 16 September 2006 Posted 16 September 2006 Maybe Peep Show is funnier because Mitchell and Webb don't write it? Do they write this new thing, I assume they do, haven't seen it yet.

Louise describes it best, That Mitchell And Webb Look is a bit hit and miss. They wrote for Big Train, which made me chuckle. Never heard That Mitchell And Webb Sound though, which was on Radio 4.
Knighton Matt Posted 16 September 2006 Posted 16 September 2006 Yarrrrrrrrrrrgh! Would you like me and KM to do a sexy pirate dance for you me heartie!? Yarrrrrrrgh! Looks like we are in demand me heartie! There might be tension in the famous pirate dancing duo though as I suspect I am just your wingman, all the ladies are all after you!
Louise Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 Thoughts on last night's Extras? Definitely not as good as last series. Only bit that really had me laughing was the Barry/Agent exchanges about him getting his comission for Barry doing some bloke's guttering.

Only bit that really had me laughing was the Barry/Agent exchanges about him getting his comission for Barry doing some bloke's guttering. Last night's wasn't very good. I don't hold out a lot of hope for the Harry Potter one either. Having said that, some have been hilarious and the concept is great. I thought the Mitchell and Webb thing was hilarious in parts and garbage in others.
Rincewind Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 I thought last nights lacked something. It improved when David bowie appeared. I liked the song.

Only bit that really had me laughing was the Barry/Agent exchanges about him getting his comission for Barry doing some bloke's guttering. I quite like the bit where they were trying to chat the two ladies up. And David Bowie's song. Apart from that, I found it midly amusing, and that's exaggerating somewhat.

Lester LXXIV Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 Agreed, entertaining at times, but overall very mediocre!! Yup, after early promise last week this weeks left alot to be desired! <_< Although I love cringe worthy moments like when he was trying to chat the new girl up and his female friend dropped him in it! :pinch:

Twas boring last night in my opinion, there was nothing to do with acting in it. I hope he goes back to being an extra towards the end of the series, because it's not as funny now he's mildly successful. Agreed on M&W too.
Alexikokopops Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 Millman just seemed to be turning into Brent at points, like when he was chatting to the guy in that classy pub about what they were doing and that bald chap started butting in.

We really actually could live together, and we'd only need one tv!
Louise Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 I liked M&W last week, and I thought it was funnier this week. The Sherlock Holmes bit, the assasins sketch ('we stood around for 9 months waiting for him to have an accident!'), the digs at reality TV 'in this program we're going to watch someone buy a house and then live in it', Numberwang, the buscuits etc.
Ric Flair Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 I must have been the only one to have found last night's very funny. I think Extra's has a much more 'embarrassing feel' factor about it's humour, even more so than The Office. Barry and Andy's agent are what make the programme for me, Gervais's humour in his character is less obvious and takes some time to find funny. If you re-watch them again they get funnier, if that makes sense. I thought last night's was funnier than the first episode last week.
The People's Hero Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 NUMBERWANG! WANGERNUMB! Completely ridiculous.

Last nights was a very clever interplay of in your face gags and a slicing through Gervais's characters psyche...the mix of desperation, ambition and fear of rejection. Nice

Nice yeah my colleagues and I talked about this last week, he is going down a new road with the whole moral, ethical, deep seated psyche and insecurities thing. Its much more intraspective than last series.

The People's Hero Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 I loved most of it except for the snooker commentators, that was just shit. Yeah, that WAS shit. I wasn't a big fan of Numberwang.
Ricey Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 Last nights Extras was great, despite not a lot happening it seemed quicker paced and there were a lot more funny moments. M&W was fantastic! Didn't see the first episode but last nights was very impressive, at last an intelligent yet easy to watch sketch show!

Dammit, I chose to watch some Mighty Boosh instead of M&W because last weeks was a bit hit and miss. "I got a mangina"

Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 September 2006 Posted 22 September 2006 I watched Scrubs on E4 rather than Extras. Wasn't as good as the last couple of weeks though.

"I got a mangina" M & W is well worth persevering with for a few weeks I reckon. I dunno why that pair don't write another series of Peep Show
