Finnegan Posted 2 June 2014 Posted 2 June 2014 Deny it all you want, telling ya, peak beard. The ebb and flow of men's beard fashions may be guided by Darwinian selection, according to a new study. The more beards there are, the less attractive they become - giving clean-shaven men a competitive advantage, say scientists in Sydney, Australia. Both beards and clean-shaven faces became more appealing when they were rare. The pattern mirrors an evolutionary phenomenon - "negative frequency-dependent sexual selection", or to put it more simply "an advantage to rare traits". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-27023992 Kaboom. That and the fact you look like a massive ****ing hipster and the fact you made a thread for beard-pride sort of supports the notion. Oh and people like Large Al think beards are cool. Seriously. Large Al. I'll fetch you a razor.

David Guiza Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Don't understand all this hatred for beards. Andrea Pirlo's beard, for example, arguablly kick started his comeback along with joining Juve. People can take it a little too far, but beards can be classy in my opinion.
kingcarr21 Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 so we have gone from having threads talking about razors to a thread about beards. We really are getting bored. The sooner the World cup starts the better.
MooseBreath Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I do appreciate a good beard but these hipster beards are a fvcking shambles.
Ric Flair Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 You seen them beards that have been sculptured in to animals? Absolutely vulgar. It was on The Metro website last week.
Kitchandro Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 The problem with beards is too many people seem incapable of having them the same colour as their hair. Case and point: All these footballers that have these massive ones just look like a bunch of tramps. Also I've noticed that having sideburns or hair above your ear is no longer acceptable. What's with that? I think I was watching one of the play-off games, there was one player who had a huge trampy looking beard, a huge head of hair to go with it, yet he absolutely had to have a gap between both. He looked like a right twat. Case and point:
bovril Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 I instagrammed a selfie of my beard at my Uni ball cos I'm wicked cool.
Guest MattP Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Just a hobby i suppose everyone has to have one, but even if times change. Ive learned to love it and i will keep it. And don't look like a American chav whilst getting yourself the arms of a Premiership footballer.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Also I've noticed that having sideburns or hair above your ear is no longer acceptable. What's with that? I've had my sideburns for about 22 years now. If I had to shave them off I don't think I could leave the house. They're not even particularly good sideburns
Jordan Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playoff_beard The New York Rangers have won three series and are playing in the Stanley Cup Final that starts Wednesday, and until the Final is over, my position on beards is similar to the Taliban's. I've had mine going since the regular season ended in early April. I've had to shape it up and trim it because we have a dress code at work, though.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 like the red sox last year . blood sweat and beards And to a man, they look like bellends.
Beliall Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 this is the beard appreciation thread. more appreciation please
Unabomber Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 this is the beard appreciation thread. more appreciation please For an appreciation thread this is really lacking appreciation.
Soar Fox Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Richard Stearman isn't the best looking anyway, but why grow a ginger beard and make yourself look even worse.
The Doctor Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Richard Stearman isn't the best looking anyway, but why grow a ginger beard and make yourself look even worse. Sort of looks like Jack Whitehall there as well.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 The people on here criticising beards are probably just too ugly to pull one off, buy all their clothes from superdry thinking its cool and wear loose fit jeans on a night out. If the man wants to grow a beard, the way god intended him to be, then let him get on with it. Bravo
Langston Posted 3 June 2014 Posted 3 June 2014 Richard Stearman looks like he should be holed up in a log cabin somewhere recording that "difficult second album."
