Unabomber Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 Can't put a price on Pearson and the boys, it's gonna be world class pal.
Dan Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 So much for "get over what Chelsea charge, it's the Premier League, you've got to expect £50 tickets" brigade eh. I still think they're over-priced but a lot of them are less than I expected, to be fair. Annoying that two of the most expensive (West Ham & Liverpool) are right near Christmas.
Stevosevic Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 Chelsea is 50quid, but if it was 30 would you go? I don't see what difference 20quid makes. Its an expensive day whatever, trains and ticket, no doubt many people have a few drinks. What difference does 20quid or so make? Can't see how it influences people's decision to go.
Dan Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 So if it was £70, you'd go? After all, it's 'only' £20. Where do you draw the line?

Good point, you are going to get shafted one way or the other, be it ticket price, train, accommodation, taxi's, beer prices, strip clubs whatever chill out.

Some people only have a certain budget though don't they and different circumstances. It's great if you've got the money to spare or have a disposable income.
Stevosevic Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 Some people only have a certain budget though don't they and different circumstances. It's great if you've got the money to spare or have a disposable income. I understand if people can't afford to go at all, but some people will be prepared to spend 130quid on a day out in London for the football, but if it's 150quid, suddenly it's a rip off. Yes, it is expensive for a game, but an additional 20quid on what will always be an expensive day out - I fail to see how it impacts a decision to go or not.
Stevosevic Posted 27 June 2014 Posted 27 June 2014 Good point, you are going to get shafted one way or the other, be it ticket price, train, accommodation, taxi's, beer prices, strip clubs whatever chill out. Usually taxis in London, they are not cheap. Even the tube is 8quid for the day.

Personally speaking it wouldn't affect me because I don't drink so away days aren't that bad for me in that sense. After ticket and travel I'm looking at £20 extra at the very most for a bite to eat etc.
Dan Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Stevosevic makes a pretty fair point as I, and the people I go with, all have a tendency to blow money on the day itself. It's just extra cost really and it's the principle of it too. Chelsea don't need to charge that at all. They're one of the richest clubs in the world. Their prices are appalling.
promised land Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Usually taxis in London, they are not cheap. Even the tube is 8quid for the day. The tube fares can be cheaper, if you get an Oyster card. If you make lots of journeys they cap off at the day travel rate, but if you're only going from train station to ground and reverse you pay less than the day rate. Plus the credit you have on the start never expires after a certain date so if you topped up with a tenner but didn't use it, the tenner is still on it next month, year, decade you goto the smoke. Anyone can get one but lots outside London don't seem to bother for some reason.
Vicki Vixen Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 We have pulled together some information from fellow Trust's which you may find useful as a guide when planning your budget for away games for 2014/15 http://foxestrust.co.uk/3114/looking-forward-to-your-away-days-in-the-premier-league#more-3114 Thanks for the summary. I don't agree with the statement in the article that London is a difficult place to get to - it's an hour on the train from Leicester and cheap advance purchase rail tickets are readily available.
Fox92 Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Who are we most likely to be like? Swansea's category or Palace?
Bert Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Who are we most likely to be like? Swansea's category or Palace?I would say Swansea. Palaces ticket prices were higher for the London games.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Surely we are most like Swansea, as Palace are a 'london club' so likely to be charged more. I would say our most comparable club in terms of stature, location etc is West Brom myself.
Flourescent Adolescent Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 I would imagine a few of those prices going up this season too. It's a pricey game being a football fan at times.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Thanks for the summary. Much what I expected really. I agree with Vicki Vixen, London is possibly one of the easiest places for us to get to.
JmorsonLCFC Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 fvck chelsea wait til fa cup go for a tenner and take 5000

I don't agree with the statement in the article that London is a difficult place to get to - it's an hour on the train from Leicester and cheap advance purchase rail tickets are readily available. Its an hour to st pancras....after that its a complete bastard to get around
Bayfox Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Really don't get this london is a bugger. How is the underground hard work. Try getting across Leicestershire. Other than in a car. It must be a massive ball ache. For us. Chelsea away. Palace away and west ham will be a must. Just due to when they fall. also hoping to do arsenal. Tuesday may curtail that a little. Then newcastle, villa falls on my bday. Utd away and everton away Past that any others will be a bonus if funds alllow.
Stevosevic Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 London is a doddle for getting around. Look at tube map and jump on...
VLC86 Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Looks like my costs might be going up spectacularly... Bit of a commute from Milan!
