Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Tried and trusted in what? Mid table? I thought this summer was going to see Liverpool make that final push to try and get them over the line and it looks like they are going backwards. Chelsea have gone and got Fabregas and Costa and they have got Lallana and Lambert. It doesn't take a genius to see that Chelsea will probably be finishing above them next year. Rodgers is a good manager but this doesn't look sensible from a neutral point of view.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 still laughable Why is it ? Ask your Liverpool lovers like Stevie and Carragher what means more ... Leicester >>>>>> Arsenal >>>>>> England.
kingcarr21 Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Ramsey got injured last season but was having a amazing season before that and came back got motm and scored the winner in a cup final ??? Arsenal were top for the most day's last season, so technically were the best team that season. are you POTM in disguise

ScouseFox Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Why is it ? Ask your Liverpool lovers like Stevie and Carragher what means more ... Grandad. Posted 7 July 2014 Author Posted 7 July 2014 When we sold Torres people said the same thing. Sturridge has the ability to be our main striker, he scored 21 League goals last season, second top goal scorer. It isn't all doom and gloom, we have Raheem Sterling! I think we will keep top four, will be a struggle but we'll be there again. Liverpool have always had a top class striker, bar 2005-2007, where we still managed to win the Champions League and FA Cup.

Rodgers is a good manager but this doesn't look sensible from a neutral point of view. In the sense that Rodgers knows exactly how they play, and they were brought in to play alongside Suarez. He has also brought/bringing in 3 young promising talents with an eye to the future. Lallana, Lambert, Lovren are sensible acquisitions as they aren't risks. Suarez's bite and now probable sale to Barcelona changes things, and it will depend on who they bring in to replace Suarez, but it isn't comparable to Spurs last season, yet. Fabregas and Costa are bigger risks, although with potentially bigger rewards, Fabregas hasn't been at his best for Barca, although he may feel he has a point to prove and it will fire him up. Costa looked poor at the World Cup, and he wouldn't be the first big money foreign signing to flop in the Prem, very similar scoring record to Soldado in Spain and he flopped for Spurs. It may be because I hate Chelsea and his awful dive against Holland that I would love him to be another expensive Chelsea failure. Is anyone else reading about the Southampton players leaving and thinking better for us* next season. *In case of confusion us in this context means Leicester.
Guest MattP Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I'd say the bigger risk is being taken by Rodgers, we know they are capable of playing well for a mid table premier league side. We know Fabregas and Costa are capable of playing for teams who can win a major league. A sensible acquisition is one at small cost, fo say Lallana is sensible at 25 million is mad. He can't even force his way into the England team ahead of some poor players and he might not even be a regular.

Any other manager other than Roy Hodgson would have started Adam Lallana over Wayne Rooney or Danny Welbeck though mate.

C-man Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Bolton away over winning the World Cup Fvcking hell I assume he meant the celebrations at Bolton away rather than just a random trip to Bolton away which I wouldn't wish on anyone.

The money is mad, but that is probably going rate in the Prem, any English player is massively over valued, Lallana and Shaw particularly so. Considering Liverpool would have earned about 100million last season in prize money and TV money and stand to earn a lot more now they have qualified for the CL, then they can afford it (assuming the rest of their finances are in order). If Lallana and Lambert were identified by Rodgers as the right players with the right mentality to supplement their squad then the money is largely irrelevant. Likewise if Pearson identified the right player to strengthen the squad I would have no problem with us forking out £10m for that player, because that is within our budget.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Somebody prefers Club football to International football? well I never

ScouseFox Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Club > Country. Always been that way for me. yes but the second division or the world cup? it's not like we're comparing england winning a friendly to leicester beating forest, we're saying as a fan, player, manager, whatever, would you rather WIN THE WORLD CUP or be promoted from the championship? They'll ruin Costa if you ask me. they've got previous tbf. be interesting to see how many times he gets sent off or gets others sent off. he's going to be hated by fans, other teams, managers and pundits all year.

The Blur Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 I thought we already have a Premier League thread in Leicester City section??
AKCJ Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 yes but the second division or the world cup? it's not like we're comparing england winning a friendly to leicester beating forest, we're saying as a fan, player, manager, whatever, would you rather WIN THE WORLD CUP or be promoted from the championship? they've got previous tbf. be interesting to see how many times he gets sent off or gets others sent off. he's going to be hated by fans, other teams, managers and pundits all year. I'd prefer to win the league. If there was a straight up, one or the other question. For me, it's like asking would I rather Leicester won the league or Southampton win it (soft spot for them, my Dad's team).
Hugo Sanchez Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Honestly Leicester all day for me. Last season was brilliant and I don't care for England just like Liverpool or Man Utd fans don't. I'm sitting here in a Algeria top with Mahrez on the back. That's all I cared about at the world cup.
Tom17LCFC Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 yeah Leicester every time for me. don't feel the same way for England that I do about Leicester. Much rather see us in the prem than see England win a WC.
