Hugo Sanchez Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 What's he ever achieve really ? Nothing in a England shirt and one flukey Champions league. I wouldn't consider him a great of modern times. I think Frank Lampard will be better remembered because of what he's achieved in his career.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Thank you, Everyone bar Liverpool fan's or them wannabe liverpool fans. Always agree about Lampard being a better player then Gerrard.
Bryn Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 I don't think Lampard is twice the player Gerrard is at all, hard to argue he's not had a far more successful career though.
Captain... Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Wayne Rooney was the player people wanted dropping at the World Cup and now there will be a campaign for him to be captain, only in English football. Calls to drop Rooney were mainly based on the fact he didn't look fit and hadn't played much leading up to the tournament, not that he was shit.
Webbo Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Good decision for him not so great for England. A brilliant player who at his peak would have got a game for any team on the planet.
Buzzell Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Superb player. Right decision to retire. Time for the likes of Barkley, Wilshere and Co to step up.
RonnieTodger Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Wayne Rooney was the player people wanted dropping at the World Cup and now there will be a campaign for him to be captain, only in English football. I thought he was our best player by a mile against Uruguay. He was a massive scapegoat for the Italy game, and as soon as he scored the blame shifted to Gerrard because Jagielka and Cahill were asleep and not anticipating a backwards header. Thank you, Everyone bar Liverpool fan's or them wannabe liverpool fans. Always agree about Lampard being a better player then Gerrard. What a childish thing to say.
Brainy Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 People never talk about how shite Johnson is etc. Yes they bloody do
Grandad. Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 I'm not getting drawn into an argument with the Arsenal fan in Hugo and the Man United fan in GingerFox about Steven Gerrard's career, everyone bar these two morons know how good a footballer Steven Gerrard was and still is. One little thing I will say is to you pair of morons, if Steven Gerrard was at Chelsea he would still be starting for them, not have his contract run out and then feel the need to go and play in the MLS, bit of perspective for you. Also to people who have said he hasn't achieved anything for England then you may want to look away now and not read this.. There are only 22 players who have achieved more for England than Steven Gerrad, them 22 are the World Cup winning squad of 1966, because nobody else has achieved a single thing, not your favourites like Gazza, Beckham, Shearer, Robson, Butcher, Keegan and co, they won nothing also, they all failed as well, just like Steven Gerrard. Steven Gerrard just stook around a lot longer than most wanting the best for his country, only David Beckham has played more times in an outfield position than Steven Gerrard, 114 times he played for his country and apparently to some of you lot he never wanted to play and never wanted to play friendlies.. (The Year of the Fox, that's aimed to you) Top goalscorer at consecutive World Cups I think he is for England as well, not many of our English over achievers can say that either, maybe on Lineker can boast that fact? Where was the great Frank Lampard at a World Cup for England, where was the great Frank Lampard in the qualification campaign for the last World Cup? Don't come into a thread and slate one of our greatest midfielders off when you haven't got a single clue about football.. Remember Hugo, in a thread about US Soccer/Football, you liked to tell us your 'facts', well everything I have said right there is a fact.

Gerrard - 475 Premier League appearances Lampard - 577 Premier League apperances (I won't mention Champions League games because it's unfair on Stevie) Gerrard - 111 Premier League goals Lampard - 170 Premier League goals. Gerrard - 99 Premier League assists Lampard - 95 Premier League assists Can't be arsed to list what they've both won but lets just say Frank's battered him there. Lampard is the better player but you will never admit that because you are blinded by your love of Scouse.

Or are you comparing a team success? Because that is a different topic. Brown, O'Shea, Fletcher, Carrick, Nani, Anderson, Chadwick and co have won multiple Premier Leagues, does that make them better than Gerrard? No does it hell. Lampard is not better than Gerrard, that isn't me being blinded, that is the truth, you know it deep down but you are a Man United fan, hence me giving you some wank material in listing them players. Good night sweet cheeks, have fun with Louis Van Gaal.

RedHux Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Scholes was better then the pair of them. Retreats to safe distance.
Grandad. Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 If I'm a United fan then you are a Toffee flower. Is that it? Really? Oh. My. God. Go to bed, you have made yourself look silly enough now.
GingerrrFox Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Scholes was better then the pair of them. Retreats to safe distance. You are correct with that one.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Has there ever been a more under achieving so called golden generation in sport than our team of the last ten years? This. If in 50 years time someone mentioned the "Golden Generation", the other person in the conversation would say "you mean the ones that won the World Cup?" "No, stupid. The ones I remember who did absolutely nothing of note but were in OK magazine alot and had publicised affairs more often than the squad that came before them, and more tattoos than the ones that succeeded them. You know, whats-his-face and him with the feet. And the scruffy lad. Them were the days, all that glory."
GingerrrFox Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 Is that it? Really? Oh. My. God. Go to bed, you have made yourself look silly enough now. It was just to highlight how ridiculous it is that you say I'm a United fan just because I don't rate half of the shit that has played for Liverpool in the past decade. You've been an absolute mediocrity for years until last season, yet Liverpool fans go on like you have been one of the best club sides in England since the 70s.

That's because we have been one of the best club sides in England since the 70s. Seriously, like I said before, go to bed.
GingerrrFox Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 That's because we have been one of the best club sides in England since the 70s. Seriously, like I said before, go to bed. You haven't won the league for 24 ****ing years.
Grandad. Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 You haven't won the league for 24 ****ing years. But have you just said since the 70s, yes or no? No other words are needed in your reply but yes or no.
GingerrrFox Posted 21 July 2014 Posted 21 July 2014 But have you just said since the 70s, yes or no? No other words are needed in your reply but yes or no. Haha always living in the past. Last year was your chance and Gerrard slipped on his arse and gave away the title. Top player. Give it another 20 and you might win the ****er.

Give it another 20 and you might win the ****er. You brought the past up for me? I was happy talking about Steven Gerrard, the actual point of this thread, you were the one who brought Liverpool FC into this, like a typical Man United fan would do. He slipped on his front, not his arse. Keep trying to be funny though, you are looking really cool in trying. I don't get why a Man United fan would go on so much about a player slipping over in a game Liverpool v Chelsea, which lead to their City rivals winning the League, strange that one, but then again you are Ginger and you are a Man United fan, your life has pretty much been a disaster all along.

If I was a United fan I would have to disagree in that over the past 24 years it's more likely to have been a disaster to be a Liverpool fan. Having to put up with shite like the spice boys haha. However seeing as I'm a Leicester City fan and post regularly on a Leicester City forum funnily enough about Leicester City, I would say on the whole it doesn't bother me. Except when I see a Scouse fan boy go on and on about how good the mediocrity has been. Also along with Lampard, Scholes is a much better player than Gerrard. I know you can't stand that one either.
